Is the Nikon Z 30 better than the Sony ZVe10?

I had a lot of fun playing with this camera for 2-3 weeks. Before posting my review on it, I wanted to ensure that I knew every pros and con of this camera. hopefully, you guys find it useful. use the chapters below to navigate into the video parts. I think it's still better than the Zve10 but it's a terrible streaming camera. DO NOT buy it if you are a streamer but for an everyday amateur or a vlogger, this might be the better camera than the Zv10 : )

I gotchu. Quick Summary tho, the Zv e10 is a little bit better than the Z 30 when you pair the Zve10 with different e mount lenses like the Sigma primes or any of the Sigma Zoom lens. That’s when the Nikon Z mount lenses limited stock starts to lose the battle.

Nice review. Where r u from. Please make more video and compare photos with Sony. I m thinking to buy this as my first camera. Please advise if u still recommend?

Hey, For photos, I think Nikon Z 30 takes better photos than the Song Zve10. It depends how much your budget is. I’d say under $1000, the Z 30 for photography is a great hybrid camera. If you want to use it as a streamer then I’d sat stay away from the Z 30 at least for now. Also, it’s way more customizable than the Sony Zve10 for photography.

The 4K 30p on a 24p timeline is 80% handy if you want to try and iron out any bumps in footage. How long does the battery last, Im thinking of getting a twin battery charger, hoping by the time the 3rd battery runs out the first will be charged. (Event location charging) PS - id get the 40mm F2 S lens - nice and small and lightweight 👍

I agree. 4k 30p looks a lot better than 4k 24 when you’re doing pans and in my opinion is more vlog worthy than 4k 24 cause it can be choppy sometimes. But I don’t think you can shoot everything in 30p and then put that footage on a 24p timeline on editing software. Potato Jet did a whole video about how you shouldn’t mix frame rates on a video timeline. So I mostly shoot everything in 4k 30 when I can and downscale to 1080 or 1440 30p if needed. When it comes to battery, I found around 40 mins on full battery but I also found my camera over heating almost twice before it died on me. Definitely get more than 2 batteries at least :) I agree 40mm F2 S Lens is a compact lens and probably the more sane priced one of the bunch because all the other Z mount lenses are extremely high priced :/

@@realXP1200 putting 30p on a 24p time line is fine - its an old wedding videographer trick - mathematically it works out. It will discard frames on a even basis - so don't worry about that. I usually shoot 60p 1080 so Im hoping the battery could get me one hour of hybrid use.

@@markshirley01 I’ve tried putting a 30p on a 24p timeline before and it wasn’t different but I try to stay consistent with what I shoot and bring to editing. Yeah, it doesn’t overheat in 1080 60 around 25 minutes so you should get a better battery life performance out of it. Photos on Z 30 look way nicer and less noisier when you zoom in imo than something like the Zve10 (on their kit lens)

Depends on whether you’re making videos with them or taking pictures. I’d say this shoots just as good pictures and probably better video cause of 4k 30 no crop. So, I’d stick with the Z 30.

Would you recommend when I have an iPhone 14 pro? I shoot real estate and APS-C may not be wide enough?

If you’re starting off then i’d say stick with your 14 pro because it has a pretty good camera. For more professional work, I still think the zve10 might be better than the Nikon when it comes to pictures (for real estate) and videos (for real estate). I think the Sigma trio are great APSC lenses and they should be wide enough. Let me know how it goes!

I think the storage issue is just how long 1 video goes for. It has a 125 min single shot limit. So coincidentally your 128 meg card almost fit the limit on, then it went up to the limit when you put in the bigger card- making it look like it’s only taking a bit more video. I think you can then film another video after the 125 minutes and fill it up, but not 100% sure. It is confusing because at at 4k30fps it only films for about 30 mins anyway! It does 125 mins max at 1080 continuous so it seems Nikon set the display for remaining video to be that continuous limit no matter what! I know the camera recognises the bigger card because have noticed the photos numbers capacity go up commensurate with the size of the card (look bottom right on display) . I tried my 512 gig in it and it doubled the photos compared to the 256g. So it’s recognising the bigger card. I need to do a test. I have tested the camera myself on my channel and also against the Sony ZV1. The camera is pretty phenomenal. I love mine.

try Sigma lenses for Nikon APSC, 16mm f1.4, 30mm f1.4, 56mm f1.4

The viltrox 13mm f1.4 is great and about $400 on eBay

I agree. With limited lens selection, the Viltrox is a really good buy at $400. It’s just I’m very unsure of the Z lens market in the future

@@ShaneDMCshorts Right, I agree. With the RF and Z lenses, that’s the drawback. I wish they’d partner with 3rd party lens makers more for more/better lenses in the future

@@realXP1200 heard a couple of rumors on some third party lenses for the Z mount not sure what the RF is up to

@@ShaneDMCshorts i heard the same but they’re rumors. Last I heard about the RF lenses were when they pulled out of support from other manufacturers making the RF glass
