Is The PaxPower Jackal A Chevy Silverado That Can Finally Take On The Ford F-150 Raptor?

( www.TFLtruck.com ) The Ford F-150 Raptor is currently the gold standard of full-size off-road trucks, but that may be about to change thanks to companies like PaxPower with the Chevy Silverado-based Jackal. GM hasn't officially built a direct competitor to the Raptor (yet), so this stage 3 kit could be the best solution - if you can afford it.

Joseph Rodecker the Tremor is more of a slow speed off roader, while the raptor is more of a high speed Baja truck. I’m partial to the tremor due to the fact that I like the look of the super duty over the F-150 body styles.

@@mcgee9777 I gotcha. But what gets me is one is good at hard work, the other... Not so much. I guess what I REALLY want is a 6.2L V8 Raptor with a longer bed and more payload\towing capability

After buying a Gen2 Raptor after my Gen1 was totaled; how do you blind a woman? put a windshield in front of her, and spending $25k aftermarket on the suspension, I should have just bought a base model F150 w/Coyote motor and whipple and I would be much happier. I miss the V8. Not taking away from the psssssshhhh from the aftermarket BOV and the fact the Gen2 outperforms the Gen1 in every-way off the show room floor but...nothing can replace the rumble of a V8. Also, a whippled coyote is faster :-D

Joseph Rodecker Well you’ll be in luck because you can get a heavy duty raptor with the 7.3 gas job or the 6.7 powerstroke or the good old fashioned 6.2 V8, though the 6.2 in the super duty only makes 385 hp, the 7.3 makes 430. Which is more than the old 6.2 made

In my opinion, it's not a matter of GM failing as it is they probably just don't see a significant enough market for them to bother coming up with a answer to the Raptor. I think if there was money to be made GM and Ram would be right there with Ford with their hands out for their share.

@buckhorncortez
@buckhorncortez 4 жыл бұрын
Economy of scale + automated manufacturing vs one-off build. The more you can produce, the less it costs as you get costs down on volume purchases and manufacturing. This is a one-off vehicle so you're paying the highest prices for materials and labor. Basically, it shows you what a deal a Raptor is in comparison to a custom vehicle of the same type.

What impresses me the most is the pricing! So often these custom trucks built to match the Raptor are way more money than the Raptor. Having the pricing similar to the Raptor is awesome! The fact you can pick and choose models is a huge bonus. I would think even the diesel is an interesting option for many people out there........ get a TrailBoss diesel and take it from there! Regardless, I’m impressed! I almost skipped this video because I’m tired of the ridiculous overkill Raptor fighters that are $100,000 or more. Instead I was pleasantly surprised. Well done! Thanks Andre and gang for bringing this company to our attention. Nice interview as well!

Chevrolet is on the same list as John Deere. Both of these companies believe and have stated that the purchaser of their vehicles do not own it. That's why it is so hard to do any tuning or repairs without taking it to the dealer. John Deere had the farmers in a world of hurt when their tractors broke down and the farmers couldn't do a thing to fix it, except call in a JD specialist to come out and fix it or the farmer figure out a way to get it to the dealer. Caused them all kinds of problems. lol. Chevrolet says this because of the patents on the electronics, the same as JD did. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNB5ZMaDy9_RZWg.html

I drove a 2019 LTZ with the more aggressive gearing. 6.2L and 10 speed. Wasnt impressed. Was expecting more acceleration from a truck having 420 hp and 460 torque. So this truck...with much more weight, heavier wheels and tires for the engine to turn...and only 22 more hp... Will most likely get waxed by the raptor in acceleration. As far as off roading goes...would have to see a more detailed off road comparison but as what's explained in this video of what this truck has vs the raptor...seems like the raptor would still prevail.

Cool truck, but its not a raptor fighter, when chevy builds something thats covered under warranty, epa tested, and crash tested, then they'll have a raptor fighter. Being aftermarket, its not even in the same class. Anyone can throw aftermarket parts at a vehicle and claim its better than something like a raptor, its easy to do because they dont have the same restrictions and requirements to meet. Regency, black widow, mallet, shelby, and roush (among others) all make vehicles that are "raptor killers" but they really are just aftermarket parts bins.

Can't talk crash tests around a GM truck & if they could pass they still fold like a cheap suit (just seen one get rear ended by a Toyota Tacoma and completely destroyed a brand new Silverado) there was nothing left of the box &cab because the frame bent so bad maybe the owner knows better now!

The dynamics of wrecks are fascinating, ive seen too many vehicles that should be destroyed come out of a wreck virtually untouched. You never know how it will result till it does. Ultimately it doesnt matter how the vehicle survives, just how the occupants do.

Jack Sandoz sorry but those PreRunners are not nearly as powerful as the Raptor. The Raptor is the only production truck to run the Baja 1000 with the frame unscathed (it did blow out both rear leaf springs, which was quickly replaced). Other manufacturers do have PreRunners but their frame and body is not as rigid as the Raptor.

With enough money, you can make a Camry into a Raptor killer. Doesn’t make it a true a raptor killer though. Until there is another manufacturer that has factory components and power that beats a Raptor, it’ll just be a heavily modified vehicle. I wish people would stop saying that phrase 😂
@hdz12ez
@hdz12ez 4 жыл бұрын
Although I like the look of this truck and the modifications that they did, personally, I cannot lend credence to it being a Raptor fighter only because the Raptor is a factory built unit and this is wholly aftermarket. Great job though! I'll definitely give you that. On the other hand, when the TRX comes out from RAM, that will be a true Raptor fighter(by the sounds of it anyway) due to it being a factory unit.
@terrarecon
@terrarecon Жыл бұрын
Lots of aftermarket builds go after factory vehicles. For example, a whole lot of people started tuning Japanese cars to compete with stock Porches, BMWs, For Mustangs, Corvettes etc. I have no problem lending credence to this build. Chevrolet won't offer an equivalent package to the Raptor or TRX, so companies like this are all too happy to help customers with that gap.

The key take away I kept hearing was "compare my aftermarket truck to a stock truck, and that in a nutshell is what you are looking at. I imagine there are a lot of people who take regular 4x4 and FX4 f-150's that have kits that will do as well as this aftermarket truck, and since they are using a lower starting point will probably come in cheaper then the Raptor and this Jackal. If you want to say "Hey, we have a kick ass truck" Cool, say you have a kick ass truck, but when you start trying to compare your hand built truck to a truck a 100 people can buy from Ford dealers around the country, then you know they are just trying to ride the swell of another brand because you are scared you can't walk on your own merits.
