back when I was a kid, a collectable store usually meant old toys and knicknacks. used to love walking in there to look for old transformers. nowadays all collectible stores are just funko pops. I mean an entire store of just funko pops. that just blew my mind away. store was perpetually empty. like if it was a variety store of like japanese statues and figures, plushies and other anime/ pop culture memorabilia then I would understand. never knew the market for these “not bobble-head” bobble head toys go for. I dont even get the appeal. like with transformers you can pose them and play with them and all that good stuff. this is like trading cards but with pops.

Collectables really only have value to the person that willing to buy them. With rare exceptions. Some of these things can sit in shops for years, until that one buyer stumbles across it. Also funko pop are the new bennie baby the market is flooded and falling. Just like newer comics don't buy them for resale buy them because you like them.
@RialVestro2 ай бұрын
From what I've read, this really does make a difference and I have no idea why. It's literally only Pop figures that do this. With any other toy line a minor packaging variation would make zero difference if it's the exact same figure but with Pops, having a sticker on the box some how makes it worth more. I still don't understand why anyone would try to sell anything to a store though when you have to take into account they're going to give you less or they can't resell it and make a profit on it. If you put it up for auction on E-bay yourself you will make a lot more money than what a pawn shop will ever pay you. That's where you're going to find people willing to pay top dollar for a sticker.
@unholyabyss2 ай бұрын
As a knife collector, SOMETIMES these small differences actually do make the difference in pricing. A lot of times it doesn't but people still try to upcharge anyways, Benchmade first productions being the one I usually see it with and those listings generally sit while everything else closer to the normal buying/selling rate moves with relative ease and speed. Maybe Funko collecting has it different, but I know in my side of hobbies, it usually doesn't add value nor decreases.

This is what many people dont understand, particular releases etc are a niche not a norm. Look at trading cards, unless something of rarity is eother very cheap or easily attainable a vast majority will simply go with the lower rarity items think limited release card runs compared to later common release's.
