I bought this base with the Thrustmaster Open Wheel add on, and I'm super excited for the base to get here in 2 days. Thanks for the video! Coming from a Thrustmaster TMX that is on it's way to being dead, I hope this will be a decent upgrade. I even have the T-LCM pedals too.

Awesome wheel *, I got mine early covid 2020 , and now 5 rims and two shifters later its still the best , *I did have to return the first base as it was ...um.....grinding, but I heard that now its harder to get replacements as they did replace alot of them , the quality control was a bit iffy , but it is a heavy duty wheel and the best they make , depending on budget I wish the new fanatec DD was out when I got this it might have swayed me , but the price of accessories is what drew me to the thrustmaster , what did you end up with ?

As someone that has been in and out of Sim Racing for a while (my first wheel was a Microsoft Sidewinder in 1998 that I used through all of the Papyrus NASCAR titles), I've owned a handful of wheels, from budget to high end. I took a break from sim racing from about 2005 until 2009 when I picked up Forza 3. That was the first console I built a dedicated rig for, with a Microsoft 360 FFB wheel that didn't entirely suck. Once I started getting serious, I went the Fanatec route with the 911 GT2 wheel and pedal set. Aside from some overheating issues that would sometimes yank the wheel out of my hands and pin itself locked to the left (really fun when it happens on the third lap of a 50 lap league race), I decided it had to go when I upgraded from the XBox 360 to the XBone and Fanatec refused to work out the compatibility issues. From there, I bought the only wheel at the time that was compatible (that wasn't a new Fanatec) - the Thrustmaster TX with T3PA pedals, and that is what I have been using for the last several years. I recently changed positions at work, so I am no longer on the road 2-3 weeks out of every month. Since I now have more time at home to enjoy iRacing, I've started wanting to upgrade my now obsolete equipment. I looked at Fanatec again (conveniently the only bases in stock are well north of $1k). I've looked at Moza (simultaneously available to ship immediately and to pre-order). Since I've already invested in the Thrustmaster ecosystem (TH8A shifter, multiple wheel rims) I figured that's where it makes sense to stay. It looks like the TS-PC is the route I'm going to take (I don't need the console support of the XW) along with a set of T-LCM pedals. While a full Fanatec setup (with the DD5) wouldn't cost much more, Amazon can get the Thrustmaster pieces to me in a matter of days vs a 2-3 month preorder for a direct drive system. And, when (if) Thrustmaster decides to release their DD unit, I'll already have quality components to go along with it.

Hey Marshall, I am thinking about getting a Thrustmaster TX with the T3PA pedals for an Xbox series X. Do you have any advice for that? Btw I am also getting the TH8A shifter and the Fanatec handbrake.
@LMarshall73
@LMarshall73 Жыл бұрын
@@planeboy1318 I really enjoyed that combo on the XbOne. Upgrading from the TX to the TS-PC was a major change, jumping from 1NM to 6, but the higher force allows for a more nuanced feel. If you can swing it I'd recommend the TS-XW over the TX. If not, the TX will serve you just fine.

Thrustmaster T300 Alcantara Edition or TS-XW? Which one would you recommend to buy for a beginner in a sim-racing?) @akwest1390 3 жыл бұрын
Whats the tx like?
@cable440
@cable440 3 жыл бұрын
@@akwest1390 the TX wheelbase is not bad at all. I have had it for a couple of months now and it's pretty nice for entry level sim racing I would say. It is one of the more affordable bases made by Thrustmaster, being on the lower end. It does its job well, but it doesnt have very high force feedback torque ratings. For me is fine because I dont need something super powerful. The base shell is made of all black plastic and does not have any red metal like the one in this video does. On some games the wheelbase feels a little bit more finicky than others. I wanted to try and play Snowrunner with a wheel, and that game has options for a wheel controller, but it is NOT optimized very well. Plus for a game like that I need to move the camera around a lot on xbox and with a wheel that is just not feasible I found. Maybe on PC it would be easier considering you could use a mouse along with the wheel. For now, I play on xbox one x until I can get a PC, and the newest Forza games have been the best games to play with. Forza Motorsport 6, 7, and Horizon 4. I also have played Wreckfest with the wheel and it was a great experience. I tried Asetto Corsa on Xbox one before it went away on Game Pass and that was another great one to play. I imagine mostly all these games would be better on PC because of more adjustable controls and button mapping available on PC with most games than xbox. I have the TX leather edition wheel rim which came with the base, and I love the feel of the rim. I honestly feel like the wheel rim itself has a bit better of a quality feel to it than the TX base. But still over all the base is pretty good. The cool thing is that when I can upgrade to the TS-XW in this video, I can buy just the base and keep using my same leather edition wheel rim. The base is Definitely a little bit cheaper than the TS-XW in the video. But the finish and build quality of the one in the video looks a bit better than my TX which is understandable. I think I read somewhere that the TS-XW has better torque ratings and a nicer cooling system for prolonged use also. The TX wheelbase by itself without a wheel rim I think is $349 and the TS-XW is $599 if I remember correctly. I could be wrong but I know they are in that ball park. I got my TX base as a box set with the leather edition wheel rim and the T3PA pedals for $499 which I thought wasnt bad for all that and I really wanted to have a good wheel rather than a controller because I really wanted to get into sim racing. This is a buy I do not regret because racing with a wheel is a lot of fun. A bit tricky at times because you don't have the same super quick response of going full lock like you would with a controller but still a lot of fun. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the material. How does it perform mounted on a heavy desk?
@AbirMojumder
@AbirMojumder Жыл бұрын
It works fine, mine is on a pretty mediocre desk and the clamp is strong enough to keep it in one place. I will say that the clamp doesn't work it thick height lip desks *the clamp will just hit the edge of the desk before the actual clamp feet touches bottom of the desk. My desk has a lip of thickness 4.3cm (the structural part makes it thick at the front), but the rest of the table has half of that thickness, so I had to shove some cardboard pieces to make the table "uniform height". So its not really an issue if your entire desk is of uniform thickness.

Hi there Norbert - Sorry for the late response, didn't see this comment until now. I didn't mention the clamp simply because I didn't use it, I recognize that I probably should have for the sake of the review. I've used other clamps from Thrustmaster and they tend to be pretty straight forward and solid. They hook up the wheel and tightly cling on into the bottom of a desk. Unless you're absolutely yanking the wheel around, I would not imagine it being a problem. Hopefully this helps and/or removes any doubts you may have had.

Consider getting a wheelstand, they fit in a reasonably small space, and they are not super expensive. I have experience with the thrustmaster t300 clamped to a desk, bolted to a wheelstand, and now bolted to a cockpit. The wheelstand is not as stable as the cockpit, but i think it was way better than clamping it to a desk. Just a friendly tip, if you find the desk clamp a bit problematic, like i did.

@DMort22
@DMort22 Жыл бұрын
Something must be different between the t300 and the TS-XW which I have bc there is 100% no way to play without that screw in. The wheel will literally be completely loose and dismounted within a minute or two on a TS-XW. And it's very clear in the directions, it only goes in about 3/4 of the way. If you screw it in all the way, it will back the way out and you will actually start stripping the wheels quick release. So I wonder if you screwed it in all the way and that's why you're saying it made it more loose? Because I know for a fact if I screw mine in completely, the wheel will wobble because it's again, stripping the quick release. I would definitely try using this girl again and only put it in 3/4 of the turn. You may think it's not coming loose, but you don't know what might be going on that you can't see

Does someone know which motor is used in this wheel base? Couldn't find any info about it online
@antmax
@antmax 3 жыл бұрын
Looking at a couple of teardown videos. The motor seems to be a proprietary patented brushless motor with cooling fan blades built into the back. So it is always cooling itself as long as the motor is running. The small fan in the back is just an exhaust fan like you might get on a PC case. That small fan is pretty generic and some people have replaced it with something more upmarket.

Logitech wheel bases have a "cheap plastic feeling"? Only cheap plastic I can feel on the Logitech is that little thing on shifter knob. What I see here is just Thrustmaster fanaticism, not gonna mention how shitty Thrustmaster was before releasing TS-XW, TMX had issues on the first day of using, T300 was and is the most problematic Thrustmaster wheel, so you shouldn't judge simracing gear just by its looks and "cheap plastic toy feeling" (because hard plastic cogwheels feel like a toy compared to belts that snap and melt like crazy during longer sessions). Edit: It's not a bad product, I just don't understand unnecessary Logitech offense.

I don't know what you're talking about dude. I've had my TSXW with extreme abuse for years and years. With force feedback and everything always cranked. I've literally never had a single issue. I've played for over 12 hours straight (during quarantine) before. I came from a g920 which I actually did love. But the upgrade to the TSXW is night and day difference. The Logitech is awesome for the price point and gets you into sim racing. Don't be mistaken, the Logitech wheel and pedals price is for a reason. One of the biggest reasons being the largest tech stuff is just all plastic cheap Feeling crap. You don't really realize how bad it is until you upgrade. My sparco wheel for example any of the rims I have literally feel like a race car steering wheel. They are exact replicas. Logitech wheel is an abnormally tiny plastic wheel with a plastic base and plastic pedals. It's not about dissing Logitech. I'm pro Logitech. But it's a review video. And if we're comparing the TSXW with the Logitech wheels during this review, then you're going to hear the truth which is the Logitech is like 99% plastic. 🤷 Not something to get mad about bro. You'll upgrade one day as well
