The tailpipe issue could of easily been sorted by your exhaust fitters. It just needs either a slight bend on the bar that bolts the two exits together or a couple of well placed washers to bring the shorter one out to match the other one. It had to be done on mine and worked a treat and does not set off people with ocd.

Great videos. I have a Toyosports on my R53 (standard bar the Ram Air Box) I love it. Warm sounding, plenty of pops and bangs etc. Tailpipes are the only issue for me. I have a Mini Challenge manifold that is getting a flexi replacement. I plan to fit it soon but if it ruins the Toyo completely, it's coming straight off again.

I've got a non res miltek cat back and it sounds perfect to me. It's loud when i want it to be and relatively civil when driving normally. No drone at motorway/A road speeds either. It's as loud as i dare go with a small car however a sports cat mani is in the pipeline (pun intended) for me so it will eventually be a lot louder. Highly recommend one. Scorpion exhausts are also excellent, they make the exhausts for the Mini Challenge cup cars so that has to say something. The Toyo and Direnza both sound lovely in person, hard to get an accurate sound on video but both are great options especially for the price. As for the "asbo" exhausts, personally not for me. I know someone who had a Hornet for an afternoon before ordering a Direnza and selling the Hornet on. They're just too much for a small car with a small capacity engine in my opinion. If you like them though, more power to ya. But look after your hearing haha Found your channel through the post on Facebook earlier, gotta say i do enjoy the waffling lol. Keep at it, not enough R53 content on here!

Good info, GTT make in my opinion the best exhaust for the r53, they sound amazing and are built so good, just pricey at about £600

Love this video. I have the same exhaust on my 55 R53, love it around town or on country lanes but does drain me on the motorway!

My tail tips line up I fitted it today my self. Maybe the bracket for the tips need to be swapped around and bolted up that way.

Nice explanation dude. I believe mine came with the direnza cat back , sound bloody awesome. Remapped to 200 hp @ 6000 rpm. Good evening, I have a toyo exhaust, great bit of kit, although my tailpipes weren't aligned either, I was able to sort this by placing washers between the small tabs that bolt together between the tailpipes,

Hmm nobody talks about the alta cat back. Thats what ive got but I bought it used really cheap since someone installed a magnaflow resonator on it and cut out the muffler. It sounds better than any exhaust ive heard for the mini but its too loud for me so im putting a bullet style muffler on it to quiet it down a little and crossing my fingers it doesn’t change the sound too much.

im having mounting issues with mines the muffler pipes are to close and melted my rear valance how did you mount yours?

I am in the process of getting another exhaust, I am very surprised that Powerflow never got a mention? ... I am also very much like you with the OCD part lol .... But I have an idea for you ... Go out and buy 2 of the exhaust chrome covers that fit nice a tightly over it, ... Then you could get them straight, use a spirit level lol ;-)

You should probably rename this as something like a comprehensive guide for Mini exhausts. I don't think I have found a single video going into the sound, cost and quality of each exhaust beside maybe forum post created 5 years ago. Great video!

i bought my JCW with a non res Scorpion full system...it cost £1200 end to end with mani and 200 cell cat.it was utterly vile..worse than a Nur Spec i had on an Impreza. Motorways were sheer torture. My ears would pop when opening the window. A local fabricators put a small resonator in the centre and it transformed it. its still loud with pops and bangs but without the drone or being obnoxious.

I know it's subjective... but if OEM is 0% and a non resonated hornet is 100%, where do you think it would sit on loudness? I bought an R53 recently that essentially has the latter and it's so damn loud in the car, but also won't be able to go to a track. Do you think the Toyosports would?

For some reason the Miltek exhaust for the R53 had really sketchy build quality for the price, its actually alot more dronny than the Scorpion. I like the raspy sound of the scorpion, fits the car better and sounds alot like the JCW exhaust.

Also could he crazy but your y pop or splitter for your car back has a crack on the passenger side bend I think. Not talking shit legit think I saw a black line could be debris

The parts are absolute crap. Evo x manifold bolts don't even line up, garbage welding, different size tubing. Pay a bit more and go for a better brand. These are just trash
