A 3.7 v6 is much faster than the 4.0 but to me the 4.0 is still a really good motor and yours is really a head turner.

Yes the 3.7 is a fantastic motor. Plenty of people making 600+whp with boost.

4.0 engine are really good. Comparing with the 3.7 and 4.0. The 4.0 exhaust sounds has more deeper tone. 3.7 has a higher sound. The 4.0 is really fun in my perspective.

The 3.7 has massive potential for performance compared to the 4.0. But I do agree, the 4.0 has a much deeper tone that I find more appealing. The 4.0 for the price is a great entry level performance oriented vehicle.

Your lag problem in your automatic you just need get a transmission tune have your shifting points adjusted that is what i did and i got a sprint booster for throttle body response. Now boost options Nitrous Vortech Prochager Turbo rear mount or front mount even single or twin turbos and xcharger xtreme and modbox are all available for the 4.0 I will post a video soon about how to get rid of the delay between auto shifts on an automatic.

HP is what you brag with but torque is what you feel! The Modbox kit I looked into when I found one for sale locally, honestly don't bother. Looking at maybe 250 at the wheels if lucky. IMO not worth all the money or problems for boost, at that point go ProCharger, but yet again, for the price it is, it's more beneficial just to get a GT. I'd love to do an 8.8 rear end with a posi cuz the one wheeler peelers are kinda whack with a nice set of 4.10s for when I go to the drag. the issue is sourcing the axle, and even price. Who knows what the future will tell!

Have my 06 with 97k miles as my daily . Have a few mods and it's been fun! Easy on insurance lol. I average about 5k miles a year so I hope to keep it around as long as possible with preventative maintenance

Nice! Low mileage given it’s an 06. The 4.0 is very reliable so I’m sure it’ll be around a very long time

I have a procharged 4.0. Im still using the stock 5speed manual haven't had an issue. Upgraded clutch and flywheel. I also am running the original 7.5 rear. I have added a LSD and 3:73 gears. Car has been reliable running 10 psi of boost dynoed 335whp 336ft lbs. Estimated 381 crank.

The nice thing about O/D is you can turn it on and off as needed, and it does get more pep.

2008 4.slow V-6 with manual T-5 hanging off it. Yes, stock it is fast. and it WILL do 60mph in 6 second, and that is out of 2nd gear(no red lining even tho it can, very unhealthy to any engine), at shift 3rd, it will just keep going. Being a long GM owner(71 Buick w/Chevy 350 I installed/same on 76 Buick Lesabre), I have to say, I enjoy the S197. Have no issues with the being a so-called "crowd eater", so I don't get that. This includes storms, and Snow. 0 problems, and I never use traction control, doesn't work anyway. Had it now for 4 years. The only thing that concerns me is the timing chain set up, thats it. And I have considered Modbox after looking into it. Still looking into a few things about it.

I guess everyone has their own definition of “fast”, and I certainly wouldn’t consider a 4.0 in near stock form anywhere near that. But it is certainly fun as a daily driver and has enough torque to be enjoyable. The modbox would be sweet!

@@SVTEvan lol, I am just going by the warning sticker in the door jam, looks like a Ford sticker, says 0 to 60 in 6sec. I have a 2008, And it will do it. It's a stick, if you don't watch it, you can red line it. That is the way it came when I got it. What I been looking into on that Modbox, is how other people set their up. Apparently the intake comes out right to air filter, not left to air filter. And I been looking at different ways people had mounted it. Some go from intake right, bend in front of engine, to left air box. Some right to mount in right fender, or next to right side engine. Mounting is going to be important. The throttle body is at the rear of the unit. And I also been looking at vids of problems with using it on our engines. Cause I too use it as a daily driver, rain snow, in all weathers. It's all I got. And If I go this route, I want to know what problems I may have. Like the engine, like I said before, I am not a fan of the timing chain layout. But I can honestly say, it's a very reliable everyday vehicle. The only issue I found so far with the modbox is the belt. I hear after awhile it loosens up. There is a vid up here that a guy ran into it, and made a mount for a extra pulley, and he claims that solved it. I am thinking maybe the use of a larger pully. Oh, you can find a place on the internet that does remanufacture superchargers, Some of these places will even have it for sale. I was looking at two of them before. Like one place on ebay, and another(forgot the name) on the web. Lately I been looking how it gets installed. I need to see how it gets fitted on the intake side of the head. For gasket reasons.

What's crazy is I never had a Mustang so when I finally found out that the TCS on the - panels stood for traction control I immediately turned it off and the motor and the tranny kicked in good but at 1st I was wondering why I couldn't even do a burn out or wwhy my car kept stuttering in which I got a 2007 Ford Mustang Premium but when I turned off the traction control It launched a lot better and it actually drives a lot faster.

I found a nitrous kit but I’m not sure how long the 4.0 would last. I’m trying to build my car into something faster.

I’ve heard mostly positive things about nitrous. Granted, you’d want it professionally installed and to have several precautionary measures in place so you don’t blow the motor.

Supposedly, a 100 shot is safe for a bone stock engine. If you’re wanting a fast 4.0, you can do gears and maybe a Paxton? Not sure if you want to get into heavy race modification but you can squeeze 500hp pump gas na if you try hard enough

@@Diamondsintherubble I’ve got a gt that I’m building for race application. I want my 4.0 V6 to be faster, but I’m not really wanting to put a lot of money into a supercharger that I’d rather put into my GT. That’s why I’m considering Nitrous. It’s cheaper than turbo or supercharging, while still giving a significant boost in power.

​@@Diamondsintherubble I have 100 shot nitrous and bolt ons on my 4.0 and my friend has 175 shot on his 4.0 and bolt ons and cams so far I think he dynoed at 475 or 485 HP.

TCS is an option you could add to any trim level. The premium trim level refers more to your interior options. If you have a Pony Pack you got the fog lights in the grille. There was optional performance, handling pack, appearance pack available for these cars. These packs didn't sell well because they weren't advertised well so hardly anyone bought these high end options. Performance pack included: Dual exhaust Cold air intake Short throw shifter Custom tune Handling pack Included: Full suspension Better anti roll bars Better control arms Strut tower brace Appearance pack included: Billet front grille Front chin spoiler Chrome 18" wheels Hood scoop Rear deck blackout Stripes Side door scoops.

I agree. To me, the 4.0 is a great daily driver. I wouldn’t invest money into performance, but that’s just me. Many people do.

Actually with boost it will make similar power to a FBO GT and I do mean that GT needs every bolt on you can buy to make the same power as a boosted 4.0. I've raced plenty of 2.3 Ecoboost, 3.7's and 4.6's. Haven't been beaten by any yet. The 4.6 GT's get walked pretty easy if they're not modded. If they do manage to keep up they're always pretty well modded. And it's been a door to door race with the modded GT's. No I haven't raced any 5.0's yet.

8.8 rear end is what comes in the GT’s. It has a LSD that allows for both wheels to spin simultaneously. Our cars in stock form have a 7.5 rear end which all the power only goes to the rear passenger wheel.

Some people can’t afford a v8. Personally, I wouldn’t do any performance mods to a 4.0. But the 3.7 is a great v6 that makes very solid power. My 5.0 and 03 cobra is where I’ll spend money on performance.

@@SVTEvanalso no point in it because you’ll gain maybe 20hp max by spending thousands the 4.0 doesn’t respond well to bolt ons. I love mine but a cold air and exhaust are fine make a little more noise and suck more air in. Get a tune and be done.
