the release of the new 2020 Shelby GT500 means one thing...depreciation for older mustangs!
now more than ever has it been a better time to dip your toes into the mustang lifestyle than by getting yourself a 2005-2009 s197 V6 Stang!
in this video ill give you some good reasons why you should give this pony another look

Eh. With this generation you're better off getting the GT prices are very close to each other. The only v6 mustang that's worth investing in is the 3.7 cyclone design

Jacob Otero 4.0 is much more reliable. Cheaper than the 3.7 as well.
@AdmiralRustyShackleford
@AdmiralRustyShackleford 4 жыл бұрын
The Cyclone doesn't have reliability issues. And whatever issues it has, doesn't matter when it makes 100 more hp with less displacement. The 4.0 is a slug compared to the Cyclone. It's a good engine for high school and college girls because it's so weak there's less chance they'll wrap it around a tree.
@yanghu3592
@yanghu3592 4 жыл бұрын
@@AdmiralRustyShackleford I love my 3.7, but it is becoming a slow car too. The new mustang is always getting faster in the last two decades. It's awasome! Race as a type of sport, it challenges people, not the car. Any car can be a racing car if you put a racing driver behind the wheel. People should take it easy, and try to keep these beautiful mustangs as one piece, so the future generations still can get chance to enjoy them.

Don't waste your money buying performance bolt ons for a V6. For the same outlay you could buy a stock GT and still be way ahead performance-wise. Even a turbo V6 will only just equal a GT equipped with only a CAI & tune. The only real advantages of the V6 are lower insurance, lower vehicle taxes (Europe), lower price, and less weight. Gas mileage isn't that much better to be a game changer (unless you romp the GT gas pedal to hear that V8 sing), and the GT is equally as reliable. If you're going to buy a V6, get one that's rust free with good paint, and enjoy it for what it is. In the meantime, start looking for a wrecked '11-14 GT to buy from a salvage auction to use as a donor car for a Coyote swap (plus many other parts) project. Then you can rescue two ponies (V6 bodyshell & Coyote GT mechanicals/interior) to build your dream Mustang.

I'm so sick of these stupid comments. The 05 to 2010 V6 mustangs were good reliable cars. I have a 2005 V6 mustangs with the 4.0 engine with the T5 trans with over 240,000 miles. It's fun to drive with 210 HP. If he was talking about a 1994 to 1998 mustang GT you guys wouldn't be complaining but yet that car only had 210 HP as well. Smfh why can't we all just like mustangs period? Besides we all know it's not always about HP. And btw I race my V6 and I never find myself wishing I had a V8 but that's just me. Do better guys. We all want the same thing. Not to mention Shelby built a 08 V6 terlingua Mustang. If he thought it was worth his time, you should too cause it destroyed V8s.

I have bolt on mods and suspension mods, 91 oct tune and 100 shot wet Nitrous system. The 4.0 and 3.7 are good reliable platforms the 4.0 is limited in the aftermarket world in comparison to the 3.7 But the 4.0 is a cast iron block and can handle boost very well. The 4.0 is amazing in the sense that carrol shelby had released a Shelby CS6 4.0 V6

My mustang is a 2010 v6 premium and i just drive it around for the fun. Its a nice car and 210 hp for me is pretty fast. I am not in drag racing or spinning wheels like hell drivers etc. But all your negative comments about the v6 Mustang let other people feel bad about their cars! Some guys brag about their v8 mustang 2009 or 2010 that is better etc. But the 4 Cylinder ECCOBOOST has 305 HP and the V8 2009 315 not a big different, so what is the point of a V8 here if the 4 cylinder has like the same HP?? And i am sure that guys that have a GT-500 or Shelby talk shit about those that have a GT and so on, and the very first model Mustang, the Early 1965 Mustang (or as many refer to it, the 64 ½), was available as a coupe or convertible and featured a base 170-cubic inch six-cylinder engine with a three-speed floor shift transmission. So V8 came later and if it was not for the V6 their were no V8!!! cheers!

@DVJFan ehhh they don't have "insane amounts of torque". They made 320 around 4500 and the eco boosts make 350 at from like 2000-4000rpm. But the eco boosts have really long gears to help with MPG so they are lazy off the line and the turbo is to small so power drops off before redline. They are quick for what they are.

raymond kock awesome comments but there is a reason the 4 cylinder engines at the track are rebuilding after every race and the v8s can run all season long. It’s because to get the same hp out of the smaller engine you will have to build it to it’s max and that just means it will fail faster. A 700hp 6 cylinder would be equal to a 1400hp LS motor but the 4 and 6 cylinder will probably blow after a couple races if not one race....ok built right the LS will last a full season and even let you drive it 3000miles from race to race. There is the weight difference...Think of it as 1 hp for every 5lbs that you loose. And yes the LS is Chevrolet 🤪

@@arrowphillips6902 I ran a 150 thousand mile bone stock D16y8 with a turbo for a whole season and DID drive it to and from the hotel half to save trailer space for tools and tire. before I lost compression the idea that a v8 is more reliable is bonkers, but you are correct about maxing out the motor, I had to bring that thing to the absolute edge to be competitive with that motor. also don't bring LS into a conversation about reliability, anyone who races them knows that is the (possibly only) downside to the motor's pushrods are not reliable at High RPMs they will last a million years on the street but racing they just wear fast, that's why OHC motors are used in performance cars from almost every brand now.

The 2005 to 2009 and 2010 V6 are good if you just want a daily driver car that looks good. I'd rather go for the 2011 to 2014 Mustang 3.7 V6 instead. It's the best of both worlds in performance and economy and worth the extra cash.

lol lol That’s discrediting a lot of work I had to do to the car, I had to weld my own roll cage, install a turbo kit on it, replace the whole rear end with a GT rear end, redo the brakes and suspension with coilovers and power stop brakes as well as a bumpsteer kit and a hydro e brake with duel calipers, the list goes on.

@DVJFan not from a dig, trust me I got a 3V 4.6. With a few bolt ons the 3.7L V6 is way faster maybe is due to it being lighter 🤷🏻‍♂️

@DVJFan stock to stock the 3.7 is faster from a dig while the 4.6 is faster on a roll... but they're Mustangs so mods have to be thought of when choosing a platform... and the 3.7 not only looks newer (which might be to the liking of the buyer) but it has more potential than a 4.6

I mean if you want the 4.0 v6 enjoy having low 200 horsepower stock. I just bought a 2011 (first year of the 3.7 cyclone) v6 for 9 grand with 47500 miles great condition no exterior problems and it runs 305 horses stock. Just wait and get a 3.7 it’s a really fun and reliable car

I think it's funny someone mentioned that the 3.7's are better. While they supposedly are like 95hp difference. My stock 4.0 with only a slp power flo can pull on them. I was impressed enough to keep up with a 2010 gt 5.0. I wish I filmed the couple of times I've raced them.

I agree 200% with you man. 20 years ago their wasn’t much you could do with the v6 cars be it mustang or Camaro. Nowadays cheap turbocharging is readily available and with a little no how you can have something different, hell you can throw a 2j into one of these things or better yet an sr20 and really piss people off. Hot ridding is all about taking your car and making it into something unique and bad ass and screw what other people think.

but still people like me around, so my mind was not changed. I just don't like V6 motors, they produce almost as much power as V8 cars now yeah.. but use almost as much fuel from my experience. making them feel kind of pointless? loved my 3.6 Cadillac, but felt it would have been better with a small V8, and a mustang? I just would not be able to bring myself to get a V6 Mustang. because I just like the whole thing of having eight cylinders.

personally i would still get a 2v gt from 99-04 i have a 2017 gt nd daily drive a 01 gt with my mods and tune its pushing 250 hp to wheel around 300 crank hp which is not back considering the 2v dont make alot na hp but has 270 ft trq to the wheel which is around 320 to crank this v6 models only make 220 hp to crank so thats only like 170 180 to wheel is the 05-09 mustang interior way better then the 99-04 o yes its a better interior but again dont sleep on the 2v from 99-04 u i got mine for 3200 with 140000 miles bone stock bought from a older couple dat only drove it on the wekends ive droppe another 3 thousand on the car with mods and wat not so for under 6500 a 2v gt is good bang for its buck and u cant replace that v8 rumble

There’s nothing reliable about the 4.0, because once that third timing chain gives out the motor is coming out, the 4.6 3 valve is bad as well with the phaser problems but that is owner neglect with the oil changes so it can be prevented. But those 4.0s aren’t the guides and tensioners will give out at one point and then that 2 or 4 grand u spent on buying the car will go up another grand or so if u take it to a shop and swapping the motor isnt easy since the rangers and explorers that had the 4.0 and also had 4x4 have a fourth chain on the vary bottom. It’s better to stay away from the 4.0 save more and get a 4.6 if u want the first gen s197 but understand what ur getting into don’t just jump into it.
