We take a look at the only monk subclass that can heal, the way of mercy monk. How does it stack up with the other Dungeons and Dragons monk subclasses available. Can it compete with the way of shadow, astral self or the way of the open hand monk?
"Monks of the Way of Mercy learn to manipulate the life force of others to bring aid to those in need. They are wandering physicians to the poor and hurt. However, to those beyond their help, they bring a swift end as an act of mercy.
Those who follow the Way of Mercy might be members of a religious order, administering to the needy and making grim choices rooted in reality rather than idealism. Some might be gentle-voiced healers, beloved by their communities, while others might be masked bringers of macabre mercies.
The walkers of this way usually don robes with deep cowls, and they often conceal their faces with masks, presenting themselves as the faceless bringers of life and death."

I do love the mercy monk with it's ability who can debuff enemies or kill them while still healing and removing conditions. Regarding the poison ability I think it needs to be said that I believe requires no saving throw. It just happens. I like Wildhunt Shifters for this subclass. +1 Dexterity +2 Wisdom, free training Survival skill, advantage on Wisdom checks if shifting. All around good stuff to me.

I love how the mercy monk's abilities are baked into the class features meaning it's so *efficient* to be the combat medic i.e. no additional Ki cost. Just flurry of blows and replace one with a healing slap!

This is by far my favorite class. That level 11 perk doubles your healing and with hand of harm being MORE ki efficient than flurry of blows, its a really good addition. My mercy monk is a minotaur, and it's very stat heavy. So I've focused on them except taking the healer feat for early healing capabilities. And when i can, gonna try to get the mobility feat so i can get in, pick up an incapacitated party member and get out without attacks of opportunity.
