Yelan is better when: 1. you have another Hydro unit (resonance) 2. you don't need more resistance to interruption 3. you are fighting mobile enemy (thunderbird) 4. you are fighting bow-weak enemy (robot dinosaur) 5. you want slightly less hydro app than XQ 6. you are in the overworld

So my takeaway is that in Canada most measurements that come from a purchasable item (oven, scales, metric belt, kitchen volume recipients...) are in imperial because manufacturers produce for USA; and other measurements are in metric

Since furina appeared, i have barely used him. Except for nilou bloom, he helps keep nahida alive. Other than that, the pairing of furina and yelan is too good he just can't keep up. Its also nice her artifacts are uncontested. Whereas xinqiu wants the same artifacts as alot of other characters.

The thing about measuring long distances in time instead of actual distance is only common in in bigger countries (like Canada or the US) or big cities. I've also experienced it in a couple small towns in Europe tho, but that was quite rare in my experience.

on Rasional i prefer XQ over Yelan, i have been try yelan in those team but her up time is sort and not having dmg reduction is not comfort to play (for me as mid skill player). Back then in abyss 3.6 where first chamber is consecrated beast and next chamber is Aeonblight Drake (so need a bow) i play her in Rasional and on chamber one, i more often got kill by consecrated beast so i decide to play safe and 3 star chamber 2 & 3 first and back to chamber 1 but i change her with XQ easy first try.

The teams I've found that most strongly prefer Yelan over Xingqiu are Eula, Navia, and any overworld team. I think there are more teams that "require" Xingqiu than Yelan, such as Hu Tao single hydro, but beyond that a lot of it is personal preference, skill, and what you're fighting. There's also kind of an interesting bell curve where it's like - if you need no defensive utility at all because you're speedrunning, Yelan is better, if you need a bit more than that than Xingqiu becomes better, but if you take too much damage even with that then you need to run an additional character for it and Yelan might become better again. The presence of Furina and adding more healers back into the meta muddies it even further, which is great, there are a lot of options now.

In reference to canadian units of measure : As a frenchie that spent half of my life as a monolingual, recipes (particularly fir baking) containing units like tsp, tbsp, cups and such were easy ways to clock haphazardly translated stolen recipes. I don't think I've ever seen a french person use one of these rings of spoons for baking thingies. Which makes it so a recipe translated to french containing tsp and tbsp will be followed using just a random cutlery teaspoon or tablespoon. Now that I live in the UK half the time, I'm increasingly aware of the measuring nightmares in the english speaking world ; my fiancé knows his height in feet, weight in kg (bonus for my in laws who know their weight in stones), car speed in mph, distance in km and temperature in celsius. I have learned some imperial to communicate mass and such to some of my British family and to Americans in my online communities. Much like Canadians, Brits would therefore use multiple measuring systems in daily life, such that my fiancé would say he drives his car in mph to get to a location expressed in kilometres away. Anyway, I just think that's really odd, especially as someone who grew up using metric for everything lol

Yes, there is. It's Raiden/Hydro/Furina/Jean. Raiden doesn't need resistance to interruption, she needs damage, and the extra Hydro application from Xingqiu in this team is unnecessary. Furina buffs Yelan more than Xingqiu, while Yelan buffs Raiden. Just make sure to use ATK% goblet on Raiden in this team to take full advantage.

I know one! Solo Yelan lmao. I cleared the second half of the current abyss with just Yelan, Kirara/Xingqiu/Kuki/Nahida for the first half.

I’ve never had to worry about having defensive utility i. Genshin impact and I’m not even good at the game. The Ai is usually way too brain dead to care about a little damage reduction. Also though maybe my Yelen is just insane since she does like 4x the damage if Xingqui with her sig.

I usually do higher damage with Yelan in Hu Tao + Furina, but when I have to consume stamina to dodge (which couldve been 1 CA), get stagereed or just get one shot bcs of ping, I say f*ck it. Back to XQ it is. Comfier and consistent, it balances out.

as a yoimiya main, i run YYYZ (yoimiya yelan yunjin zhongli) very frequently. zhongli is by himself enough defensive utility that yelan (and i have her c1) is better 95+% of the time due to her offensive utility for yoi being favoured then. xingqiu + anemo + flex (e.g. furina jean or bennett kazuha) would have higher dps ceiling than any of yoi's teams with zhongli, but i don't have kazuha, so i just use yelan + zhongli. in most other teams, yelan needs some vertical investment to be objectively considerable as better than xingqiu (ideally c1 elegy or even c2 elegy) and even then she still wouldn't be a full upgrade if the team needs xq's protection (e.g. hu tao without zhongli, especially if hu tao is either c0 or using shimenawa)

The only teams I run XQ over yelan are hyperbloom and single hydro hu tao. XQ is basically benched aside from those teams or if i feel like using him which is rare these days

If you play a team that doesn't require much on reaction, and you don't have skill issues in dodging, then Yelan is just straight up outperforming xingqiu

I have c6r1 Yelan so xingqiu is straight up worse in just about every team. Personally, I think as soon as she has c1 and doesn't need to run fav anymore because she can create a shit ton of energy and is probably running emblem, she's already better. C2 gives her more hydro app and seals the deal. Also shout out to c4 being the only active max hp% buff in the game afaik, and it goes crazy with fontaine units or hu tao

i played rational with furina instead of xingqiu. If i didnt dodge the tulpa i was dead lmao, good thing im actually not braindead and can dodge 2 attacks every 20 seconds

If you have at least c2 Yelan is almost always better, only reason to prefer XQ in some cases is if you REALLY need extra defensive capabilities. Now i have c6 Yelan so XQ in my case is not even remotely close, but even when my Yelan was not c6 i still prefer using her, not only for the higher dmg oputput but also for her superior movement ability that for wtever reason many people pretend like it's not even a thing,lol Said that many times i use them both together since they work very well,lol

IN LAST 3 YEARS i got not a single keqing but some times aggrevate is the way to go. i am very uncomfortable with raiden agreevae with nahida. her marking of enimies is very hard to achieve when my ei wipes all mobs mark by her and i end up doing her 7 sec n2c combo with out any dendro. i find yao yao much better than nahida there as she keepson applying some dendro even after the 1st booba slah wipes the 1st spawn. its so hard to have a flow with c3 raiden. the enimies take too much time to spawn and i m there standing with purple sword in hand

Yup. any quickbloom team that uses zhongli as a 4th slot, xinqiu is straight up worse than yelan. in those cases yelan's hydro is more than enough, and XQ's dmg reduction is just redundant.

Tbh, this chart isn't accurate for everyone. A lot of people cook in fahrenheit but a lot of people use celcius (myself included). I know my height in both and I know my weight in metric.

I've benched Xingqiu. In teams with a NA'er that I need off field Hydro App, I go Yelan. In teams where NAs aren't a thing or Frenchloy I go Furina. And in Nilou teams, I go C6 Paradise Lost Candace. So pretty much every single scenario I have covered. What teams would XQ be quote unquote worse than Yelan? If you look at my teams you'd think All Of Them. 10:23 You lose out on Vapes?
