I'm just saying don't overthink it.. especially in terms of trying to fit it into any kind of established story frameworks or expectations.. this is NOT that kind of story/work... just free yourself from any of that and let it do its thing.. don't worry, it will get you where it wants you to be... and the question of what happened to the world is a perfect example.. let me ask you this: is it really that important? would it change anything for our protagonists? or is it more interesting how one would cope with that situation?
