Is this ALL SEASON TYRE BETTER THAN A WINTER TYRE ? We review our Michelin Agilis Cross Climate All Season Tyres. These tyres have proved to be a fantastic addition to our Volkswagen California Campervan. So much so, I think they could be better than Full Winters....

So Who are Campervan Journey?
We are JT, Harry, Claire, Sam and Ben, oh and Hunny the Dog. We discovered campervanning in 2015 when we bought our first Volkswagen T5 Combo after seeing many at our favourite campsites. We were staying with our tent, and dreaming that one day we would have our own Campervan. After much research, we bought and converted our own T5 Kombi to suit our requirements, check out the video on the channel. We soon discovered that owning a Campervan is a way of life and it is not just about amazing trips round Europe, it’s as much about great days out and family time…
We have been lucky enough to visit some amazing places with our van, many of which we know we wouldn’t have seen if we had not owned it. They instil a sense of adventure and where shall we go into your life.
After 3 years with the T5, we upgraded to a Volkswagen T6 California Beach, our current van, and we continue to enjoy travelling and visiting some amazing places. You can check out our latest videos and adventures here on the channel !

Hi JT, great video! We fitted Michelin Cross Climate 2 to our VW California before our trip to Tignes. It snowed all night the day before we left for home and the performance on the snow was amazing. Excellent traction when pulling away on an incline and able to drive with confidence. Also comfortable on a long journey with minimal road noise.

They certainly are great tyres, its amazing how they perform in the snow. Good all season / winter tyres are more than an equal for AWD in winter conditions. Our Michelin Agilis' are lasting really well, we are now on 45,000 miles on them.

We have Michelin Cross Climates on our Skoda Octavia and will fit them to the California when the original tyres wear down a bit more.

Hi, I currently have 235/55 Crossclimates on 17" rims on my T5 campervan and want to change them to the Agilis Crossclimates in 215/60R17. I was afraid the tyres would look to skinny on the rims, going down from 235 to 215. But I see you have the exact same wheels as I have, although the brand name from mine were different. Are they also 7,5 " wide (as mine are) or are yours 7"? They look absolutely right on your Cali.

Mine are 215/60, which I think makes them 7" but they look fine. They have been great tyres so far, I have done 40,000 miles on them and they still have around 5mm of tread left ! Thanks for watching and taking time to get in touch. Cheers JT

We have Michelin CC2s they’ve done well from Val Thorens to the 40 plus of Tuscany

I’ve had my eye on these for my van... Did you see any MPG decrease from the original tyres?

We had a slight decrease in MPG, but on average we can get 38-40 when cruising. Have now covered 40,000 miles on them and they have been a superb all round tyre. Cheers JT

What size tyres did fit. Also how do you find the ride, being a stronger van constructed tyre, do you notice that the ride is a bit harder.

Hi, we went for 215/60 R17. Just a little narrower which meant we would have the clearance for the snow chains if ever we need to fit. There ride was slightly firmer, only really noticeable when we first changed, now I don't think anything of it. I am confident that their more robust construction has definitely helped their durability. Thanks for watching and getting in touch, cheers JT

Hi would you recommend putting them on 16 inch California wheels ?

I would think they would be fine on the standard 16 inch wheels. We had already changed our wheels to the 17inch hence going for larger size tyre. If you check Michelins website, the tyre is available in a range of sizes. Thanks for getting in touch, JT
