Please help! What SD-hub do you use to import from 6 cards at a time? After a whole day searching I found only 2 models with 6 slots both for thunderbolt... But i need usb.

I appreciate your videos a lot! - I have tried the instapro2 premiere plugin with Premiere 2019 - it crashes when exporting video. With Premiere 2020 we get an error when importing the not stitched footage with the plugin. Wish it worked, could be great...

Same here. Great dream but not practical in real production - I will suggest (like my later tutorial) to avoid it and use Stitcher or Mistika VR output - I only use Mistika for professional jobs.

Hi, don't use the Premiere Plugin for Pro 2. You should stitch in neither Mistika VR or Insta360Stitcher first, and import stitched footage inside Premiere and then follow this tutorial instead: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n6iRaa1_3MmzqXk.html and this one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n9ifg9yVt9yXZ2w.html

Hello Hugh Hou - thank you for all your amazing tutorials! I'd be so grateful for your advice - I am trying to use Pro2 files in Premiere for the first time. I have taken them through the Insta360 stitcher process, but when I then open up the Premiere addon and try to import, the importer doesn't seem to see any files though the files are definitely there... have you come across this or do you know what the problem might be?

Try NOT to use the plugin at this point. They stop the maintance on the plugin and pretty sure is broken in the latest Premiere. Stitching into ProRes in Stitcher and import the ProRES in 8K instead and then follow my other tutorial to edit

Hi Hugh, your 360 tutorials are the absolute best. Any advice on editing 8k Insta 360Pro 2 footage on a M1 Mac mini? Insta360 Stitcher will only support 4, Mistika VR does not work with M1. I thought the perfect solution but I have been trying and every clip I try to import the media I get a message saying wrong file format!

Mistika VR does support M1 - just use openCL - if you see my M2 vs M1 video - it tested OpenCL on M1 and M2 and it works fine. Not as fast as PC with Nvidia RTX but it will works. Just slight slower. We use M1 or M2 for on set DIT - pretty fast still.

@@hughhou that is strange, on my first tests it has crashed every time I try to select “Use Insta360Pro Calibrate” under the Stitch menu. So I wrote Mistika an email and they replied "I have been checking the equipment you have and the crash is most likely due to the fact that you are using a Mac M1. The development team along with the tech is working on creating a version that supports the M1 chips. Besides that we also support up to Monterey for now."

Hey. Thx for the videos. An excellent resource. I was thinking at using this camera to shoot a roundtable discussion. It would allow me to get continual coverage of all the speakers around the table with one camera. But I'd like to be able to generate multiple different shots from the master video file - everything from close-ups to two shots and maybe even a ws with three people in the frame at the same time, depending on the configuration of the table. But my main concern is the cu / single shot. I'm wondering how far in I could zoom in before the image starts to degrade to an unacceptable level. As these will likely air mostly on the Internet, I could theoretically go as low as 720p. Thoughts??

720p is doable - use the new GoPro FX Reframe to reframe the 8K version master file.

So I can't attach an SSD to an insta pro 2!? Thats seems like an awful oversight by Insta - that was a big feature for me on the pro 1. I was about to use the pro 2 on a documentary job and am now considering the pro 1 just for simplicity of DIT workflow (7 SD cards is pretty crazy, no?) What do you think?

Yes. This is one of the features I very disappointed - to make you feel better, my $15K Insta360 Titan (bit.ly/2WXTYRX) has do not have SSD - and that is 9 SD card DIT management nightmare !!!!

the insta360pro importer is not working with my insta360 pro 2 and the latest primiere pro and I have read many comments in forums that other folk have the same issue. Is it still working for you or others?

So it is a common bug. Here is what I will suggest: do NOT use the Importer. Stitch it in Insta360Stitcher standalone in ProRes 422 and then import into Premiere to avoid crashing. I hope this help! Also, we recommend stitch in Mistika for professional result.

Pano is mono (not 3D) and 3D is 3D. So Mono is 8K x 4K and 3D is stereoscopic top and bottom - 8K X 8K and you see 3D in VR headset - which is like this one: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ebt6ftWQycDHkmg.html

Thanks for your very helpful videos. Perhaps you could help me with an Import Issue I am having? I am trying to import my insta360 pro 2 files into Premiere Pro on my iMac. If I copy the files to a file on my hard drive and try, I get the message 'Import completed ! Non-2D videos has been skipped.' but no files import. If I do the same thing direct from my camera, using the camera as a server, sometimes it works and the files come in perfectly, all stitched, other times (with the same files) it does not work. I'm trying to establish a practical workflow and using the camera as a server does not seem practical. What is the difference in taking the files from my hard drive and taking them from the camera? I will transfer all the files into hard drive first instead of using ethernet - as speed is faster and less chance to lost files. With manual transfer - you can add DIT software to make sure all files are transfer successfully and generate report.

It depends. I interchange both. For fine control Mistika VR is the key. But if client does not care about some artifacts - then whoever is the fastest win!

Hi Hugh, do you recommend also taking 3d photos always and than in sticher decide to export as 3d or monoscopic photo as you recommend for video? And how you can tell the difference between 3d and monoscopic photo, because sometimes in sticher the files are all the same even I was shooting 3d and monoscopic and when I was about to stich them I didnt know which is 3d and which monoscopic, are they different in size or something? I saw that you made a lut for gopro max is there any lut for ilog for insta 360 pro 2?

YES. I am making Technical LUTs for Pro 2, Titan, ONE R and ONE X as the Insta360 official LUT is a joke lol... But it is more difficult than I tho as the Log is not true Log from Insta360 - it is a lot easier on GoPro as they give me a log curve. So it will take me a while to do all the stops and figure out. There is no technical doc on Insta camera so I can just read their color matix lol - for photo, I also just shoot 3D - but for a different reason. I only use Pro 2 as 3D photo capturing camera - I don't use mono at all. I use Z1 or just DSLR for mono. I do 3D Photo instead of mono virtual tour like everyone else (you know I am weird and like to offer things & services that are not out there - but why I am so expensive).

That's prob why. The plugin is developed after 2019 release and based on the latest build - as Insta360 working with PR team on that one. So you need to update to 2019 to make the plugin works.

HELP PLEASE.!!!!! I am going to be using the Pro 2 for virtual tours. I am using the AEB to use bracketing.!!!! Since I’ve had this camera I have never once gotten any help from Insta360 but just responses with go to this section on manual..!!! All this money spent and their support sucks. When I load the dng+jpeg to stitcher....and I process it....it saves it as a .jpeg..... I don’t know how to save it as a .dng....what am I doing wrong. I would love a workflow AEB video for virtual tours....please help or do u know someone that could help me....tired of going to Insta360 and they are useless......thanx

Are you sure Stitcher only give your JPG output? It should give you DNG merge as well. If not, do the old school. Individually grade the image, stitch in PTGui. Merge in HDR software and continue with PS.

Only for Insta360 camera series - including the ONE X - it is an exclusive deal between Insta360 and Adobe - GoPro without Kolor - no way they will figure out how to work with Adobe on sharing stitching technology.

Hi Hugh. Thanks for all your great tutorials. They have been a great help getting me going with my Pro 2. I have followed the workflow and everything loads fine but I cannot get the material to play back; it stutters and freezes even at 1/16 resolution. I am using a raid drive via thunderbolt getting over 230 MB/s ... Mac Pro computer has 64megs of ram and D700 firepro graphics. Any suggestions? Do I need an even faster drive?? You are the greatest.

I should add that the proxys are enabled. It doesn't seem to change anything when the proxys are enabled or not. Looks like same performance.

What is your Proxy resolution and are you following the Proxy workflow workflow here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7-BhamQtMWoqps.html - Do not use the no stitch workflow with the adobe plugin right now - there are so many bugs. Use direct render from Stitcher in ProRes and crazy your own proxy is a lot faster.

What is the name of the USB hub you are using? Also, the SD card readers you are plugging into the hub. (It is a USB hub, then USB SD Card Readers, right?)

I work with Pano2VR to make HTML virtual tours based on 360 3D videos for Oculus GO. But Pano2VR only supports left/right 3d videos, and insta only imports top/bottom... Is there a way to convert into a left/right from insta ? I'm also using Premiere 2018, or might purchase a new Software ? Thanks from France ;) Stéphane.

Does this "No-Stitch" workflow no longer work on Adobe? I've tried following along exactly and I get an "Expected: ]" error code and of course Insta360's support can't tell me what that means... which is no real surprise. Have you moved on from this for workflow when using your Pro 2, or have you figured out a work around? I know I can't be the only person experiencing this issue, thanks Hugh!

In CC 2018 on my Mac the Insta360Pro made Premiere run so slowly it was unuseable (constant beachballing). It took me a month to figure out the cause and had to uninstall the plugin. Has that been fixed in CC 2019? -Henry

Hey Henry sorry missed your comment. No it did not. So if you are on Mac - don't use the plugin - follow my Proxy workflow: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7-BhamQtMWoqps.html - but use ProRes 422 or ProRes proxy as codec - Mac is different!!

Which Mac? I'm curious to know how all this performs on the iMac Pro w/ Vega 64 GPU -- no external graphics. Can this configuration handle the Pro2 files? Does it support the HTC Vive Pro ?

Not sure if it helps but a 45sec 5.7k export took 10min 20secs on a Mac with similar core and GPU performance to your PC specs.

I was curious why Insta 360 Pro 1 only recorded to a single SD card... it seemed too good to be true! Is it less safe/reliable for all that info to be written to a single card, and is that why there are multiple SD cards in the Pro 2?

There are lots of issue on the speed of Pro 1 - honestly, I always use the SSD - not the SD card. Look at all the other brand - Kandao, Z Cam all write to mulitple SD cards...

I don't know if you maybe had the same problem, but all of my 3d DNG photos have this ugly black stich line (6 of them) from the moment I stich them in Insta sticher but the same photo in JPG are fine,no stich lines.What could be the the problem? After editing iit's even more visible. It sound like the Insta360 Sticher use a larger stitch circle that need to be - did you calibrate inside the free stitcher to optimize it? You can adjust it inside the stitcher - click preview and you can change everything there. But yes, I use Mistika crop circle to get the crop I want so no black line

Haha, that is just 60fps and new color grading I use - also new lighting setup to bring out the red.
