Love the look. The tipping centre screen is an excellent idea. It would also help when the sun (available in other countries) is at the position the screen is totally washed out with reflection. Pop the screen to the other position and continue navigating. I hope Ford does the software. I think this could be a real plus for VW. They could buy Ford design and software to improve their ID platform and perhaps sell some cars. Given their current board, this may be a very long shot.

@@903lew yeah the born is nice too but they are all so pricey still. And all are still a little big for my parking space. Quality Jack action. This car looks bizarrely good. My only slight question marks are; what’s under that bonnet? And those “heating element” graphics on the rear 3/4 thingy.

Seems very appropriate that we're finally getting an electric Ford Explorer on the 30th anniversary of Jurassic Park. Should really have a factory option for the camouflage wrap, built-in CD-ROM and a bonus set of night vision goggles.

I wonder if Ford will sell this in America as the Explorer 'Sport' like they do the Bronco Sport (smaller version of the big Bronco), or if this Europe only. The Explorer in the U.S. is a much bigger 3 row.

No stats, just a “looksy” around the exterior is enough to proclaim this EV as the “best one from Ford” and speculations as to possible battery sized. Fully charged producers, this is a let down from your usual excellent reports.

Great presentation, Jack. As a very right handed person I don’t like the touchscreen - it’s quite challenging to hit an icon in the S and I think Ford are 13:08 going down the wrong path button-wise. OK for US right handers though.

5:50 I wonder if they have any plans to sell it in the USA as a Sub Compact. A shame we couldn't see in the boot. I had a look at a Renault Megane EV this week and it was the first time I was impressed by the size. Most EVs seem to have a high up load floor glued over the battery or other mechanicals.

I see a lot of objection toward "large" SUVs (American styled) but as a double (contra)bass player, I need a vehicle that can fit a nearly 2 meter x 100 cm instrument in the back. Also, clearance for occasionally driving over 8" of snow is essential living here in Wabanaki territory.

Great review and I'm very much in line with your findings. I generally like what I see inside and out and it's fairly no-nonsense which is right up my alley. The only hairs in the soup are the foolishly big wheels and a bit of shiny black plastic and some blue lighting in the cabin which are items on my personal list of aversions (if changing the colour of the interior lighting will be possible we can forget that one though). Other than that Ford seems to be doing a lot right with this model.
