For me this season is way better than season 2. It's a shame about the ranked change, but for me it's always been about the gameplay loop so I'm satisfied with the world tour mode. Apart from that I think the new map is the best yet with features like water, enhanced foliage and a completely new style of architecture. The balance changes also feel good, I now switch between light medium and heavy in a good balance, no one class feeling too much more powerful than the others, bar their natural situationality. That said, when I completely finish the battle pass I won't hesitate to take a break if I feel like it, as the game has long seasons.

As someone who doesn't play ranked and plays power shift the most with a full squad of friends, we always have a blast and laugh to almost everything this silly game has to offer us. Legit what other shooter let you deafeat an oponent with a vase of flowers, or make your own creations with a goo gun, place a teleporter to the end of the map so whoever uses the portal falls for sparta. From a competitive view i have no clue but for a Fun experience, this is the best shooter i've played in a long time.

Yea im also taking a phat break from this game till season 4, hope they turn it around with nice unexpected surprises. i love me surprises.

this just in, man plays game too much and gets bored of it to be real though- as you pointed out, this burn out is not unique to The Finals. this would happen with any game you play excessively. if you WANT to keep playing but find it to be a chore or unfun, you just need to play a bit differently. try mastering something unusual or trying a class you didn't previously. but otherwise, burnout is inevitable. taking a break helps and at a minimum doesn't hurt. i am just struggling to find any other shooters that are as fun/unique as this one at the moment

Been feeling the same but I really feel like it’s because ranked cashout gave us a drive to do better and improve and it was a fun and hella chaotic mode for ranked. Once they bring back ranked cashout tournament we will probably get our drive to play back

This season was a real slap in the face. I've stuck with this game since the closed betas and I have 600+ hours in it (not counting the betas btw). I've given away battle passes every season to get new players interested in the game and for embark to capitulate to idk what audience was an insult. I've gone into details way too many times so I'm gonna keep it short here: 1. Community: They want to be catered to waaaay too much 2. Metas: Embark has this dumb habit of forcing people to play gimmicky metas like melee weapons and throwing knives and spears and whatnot. All stuff that is way too easy to play and way too annoying to go up against. Playing with a "gun" actually puts you at a disadvantage now unless you're actively playing like a sweat. 3. There's nothing there to do: When there's so much meta usage, every match feels the same. Winning? Losing? Doesn't matter, if it's not fun then there's no point in playing. Among other things, I realized that I just don't want to play games that are linked to communities anymore. Maybe it's burnout but this feels different from any other time before. At least before I could log onto a different game and have fun on that. But now, just looking at steam pisses me off.

Its crazy how quick games die nowdays, if this game was released 5-10 years ago, and obviously they kept cashout ranked, it would've been insane.

They could have a king of the hill mode 5v5 and every time you capture a point you get cash and kills can help by getting cash too

I haven't been able to play any games due to the fact that my computer kind of caught fire and with the lack of money I'm pretty much going to have to wait probably till next year, I wanted to play the new season but with what happened to my computer I'm not going to be able to do anything for a very long time.

Whats worse they argued taking away cashout from ranked to make some sigificant changes to cashout that wouldnt be possible if it was ranked. And now its weeks since season 3 started and there are absolutely no changes to cashout, so they basically just killed their own game for nothing, one dev even pointed out they were very sad about the playerbase during season 3 release....

S3 is p bad, but this is a marathon not a sprint. Embark can make something extremely good here as long as they can keep their heads above water in the mean time (that is, so that Nexon doesn’t cancel them). We must believe. The Finals is our only hope as FPS fans. This genre has been dead in the water for almost 10 years, spare very few big titles that actually did something different. (R6 comes to mind)

TA is dawg shit, it is literally the biggest fuck up ever, like they took what the game is and threw it down the gutter :D that's creating basketball, and in the 2nd season you make it football ? like wtf :D cashout is insane I loved it, now I have the ranked TA

The game is not dead playercount-wise, but in terms of new content and balancing it probably is. I expect Embark to shift their focus, energy and money towards their other projects after S3 floped once again despite massive marketing, which means they will release new things and changes at a even slower pace now. Its unfortunate but its just too much work for such a small studio, its crazy how many flaws and missing things this game has at a fundamental level, which become very noticeable once you start playing other games again. My only hope is that maybe another big company like Riot buys the IP or Embark and continues developing, but since the publisher is nexon who rather bury their assets forever instead of selling them (rip lawbreakers), this is highly unlikely.

Cashout just didnt feel like a grind for ranked. Every match felt legitimately different with so many more meaningful plays. Most of TA is death match and its impossible to carry if you get bad team mates. It also takes way longer to play multiple tournaments.

I think for the next BP if they did like a "future new york" and filled it with futuristic items/specializations or went pirate era with a new map being several ships you zipline inbetween around a port with matching items etc I think it'd do a lot for coming back. Pirates and plunder even falls in with the whole cash theme Could even skin the cashout box to be a treasure chest lol

The single best thing for me in S3 is the winch claw. Not for the pulling in players, that needs a serious nerf, but the potential to MOVE cashout stations. I REALLY want to see more of that and hope they don't nerf that side of the winch claw but so much. Being able to change the position of the cashout instead of it just being stuck where it spawned with some janky gas canister garbage opens up so many playstyles to be viable even with horrible map modifiers. Don't like the position the cashout is in? Jump pad winch claw. Easy.

Love this game too, TA being ranked definitely has caused me to play less though. WT is great and super fun though

I was playing terminal attack in platinum rank, I've almost meet hacker in every match, he's just the one without rank while his teammates/friend maybe is a ruby/high rank but not too good... Im assuming that he might be achieving that rank just because of the cheater as his teammates 😅

i agree a break is needed but in my case im taking a break do to the stupid amount of lights i keep running in to in quick cash im more on the casual side of things and the main casual mode being 85% of the time full Light teams just gets boring and annoying :/

Love this game and season three slaps 💪🏾 only thing is TA, but the new weapons is fun, not the best but really fun to use, jus play world tour their dropping emerald soon it sucks I won’t get diamond this season but not the end of the world and not the end of the finals💯 I’m here for the long run 💪🏾

Sweats have been an issue. There are some games where I'd rather just play something else because I'd enjoy it more than the finals. I have 2 friends who still love the game and playing with them I still have a ton of fun with them. Matchmaking balance needs to be done, and maybe allowing you to change classes in the Game. HHM vs MMM vs HML Vs LLM : the lights are not going to enjoy the match and the game will not be fin for them. LLL vs LLL vs LHM vs MHM : in this case the heavies likely aren't going to enjoy this match at all. I think it's less of a class balance issue but more of a number of class issue right now. The map heavily plays into this as well, with some maps I choose heavy, and others such as Kyoto I would choose anything but heavy.

They just focus on skins which is understandable but if you skin making department is being more innovative than the actual game thats sad. like for so long all theyve done is copy and paste existing game modes and repainted them to have skins or a theme. like they had a solo mode for a week and its no longer there. They havent tried to introduce quads or anything new. like just today i thought of a game mode where the floor is lava it you basically are just trying to climb the never ending map while fighting people. if one person can think of a basic mode like that why is a whole development team only able to make a wild west game mode with weapon presets and skins???

I had a burnt out and sametime I'm fkng mad at Devs for making S3 a shitshow. I know it was Nexon who pushed embark to make TA ranked and brought drastic changes for survival but they were wrong. Can't even play a good match without optimization issues and crashing, bad matchmaking, boring TA, stale WT, weapons imbalance, lights infestation..etc etc man so many issues. I took a break played a new story based game, tried a simulator game and an fps .. realised it's not worth to hang on Finals for now for my sanity. I'll be back when things become good but the way im seeing it's definitely gonna dead for sure. They couldn't even push update for Xbox which was never ever happened with any game.

besides the shitty terminal attack ranked mode decision which killed all completive passion for me made go from top 2k to not even finishing placements , but I'm surprised on how much they don't do why tf are there not brand new limited time game modes with light class only or predetermined gun classes , what happen to the free for all game mode they dropped and never brought back , how about a 1v1 game mode , we are 3 season in and I'm not seeing the hunger to get the player base back were going down to 10k players peak

One thing that makes me mad is having to play against pc when im on console. PC has huge advantages over my xbox or people that play on Ps5 I don't understand this change at all, if the pc side which I'm pretty sure was having longer Q times that's a y'all issue. PC and console should never be put up against each other in a competitive, who cares if its just quick play but for ranked? Imagine if ubisoft just forced pc players to play against console siege players. Just doesn't make no mf sense imo.

It was fun, but, I'd say the themes where overused, game is now dry if that makes sense, and i only played it because i couldn't keep up with people in apex, and didn't want to go back to fortnite. This game felt like fresh air, but tended too much to the playerbase- I'm gonna stop writing, holy hell.

Unpopular opinion here but for me, it feels like TA is the better ranked gamemode out of the two. Way less rng involved. Sites have fixed locations, no respawns across the map from the cashout that has 20 seconds left on it, no third parties or revivies. There is a reason why the "bomb" gamemode is so popular in other competitive shooters like CS, R6, Val and so on...

Terminal attack. 2 seasons of extremely mid-bad new whepons/not great balance. This made me play this game less.
