What do you look for in monitors? What is your ABSOLUTE most important feature besides price? With that said, what is the most you are willing to pay for a monitor? Also, thank you for the call out on my inaccurate claim that 1440p OLEDs are new, that's an important piece of information that I got wrong as I have only been keeping tabs on 4K panels, with that said, I'll have to start paying better attention!

Not willing to pay more than $600 for a monitor as new tech comes out too frequently in recent years prompting pretty promising upgrades to quality and responsiveness. I look for pixel response, sharpness, and color accuracy.

This panel tech is a year old at this point there are 360hz oleds out now for a lower price than this. This product seems to have missed the mark massively and it's disappointing that you are promoting it instead of pointing out how bad of a value it is, I was kind of expecting this to be a cheaper option based on your initial enthusiasm but it's actually just a terrible product all around, if it was $400-500 then it would be worth talking about but it's $900 and MSI has a 360hz for $750 msrp, and the LG version of this with the same panel is going for $730.

Jay a lot of your opening talking points and your read on OLED monitor technology is about a year behind. I had to double check if this was an older video or not. 1440p/240hz OLED at 27" was a huge release in 2023 with both WOLED and QD-OLED variants from more than just Corsair and LG. Looking forward for the rest of 2024 and early 2025, 2023's 1440p/240hz OLED spec got a price drop and we're seeing more 360hz/4k options moving forward, along with newer QDOLED/WOLED panels.

I am using 2 24" panels, but also have used 2 27" at the office. The 2 27" setup was ideal for work where I had to rely upon high definition of multiple data sources, and plenty of copying and transfer done manually. I believe this set up would also be great for coding where one monitor is mainly the dev side monitor and the other is testing the app, and maintaining your Git repository

Also, it does have only 1 OLED care feature that is not listed in any documentation...and only confirmed by Viewsonic itself via email ... it is: "As far as OLED saving features, the XG272-2K-OLED does have a pixel maintenance function that activates when the monitor is powered down that runs for 10 minutes, after which it will shut off completely." Viewsonic also confirmed that it also has the following: "The monitor will also have an auto dimming function that activates after detecting a set period of inactivity (5-10 minutes) to preserve the panel. Once activity is detected, the monitor will resume at full brightness. " Hope this helps!

I love OLED for gaming. Though I opted for the G9 OLED for that extra immersion. But once you calibrate the OLED for HDR, it's a game changer. Makes a huge difference (as long as the game's implementation of HDR is good).

Seeing how sharp the UFO image is at 240Hz, I instantly went "I want this!" That's the sharpest moving image I've ever seen on any screen, it's insane. I also like the white casing, and no "red because gamer" bullshit. The bezel is kinda annoying tho, but I imagine you'll get used to it pretty quickly and won't ever notice it again

Edit> Just found out that Blur Busters have actually verified this monitor, it may actually be the first OLED monitor to get that Blur Busters badge (a massive deal and if they have verified it, that means it's good), interesting, it's such a shame then that it uses ABL and is matted, otherwise this may have been the best OLED gaming monitor releases so far, what a shame. Viewsonic could have stood out from the crowd with their OLED gaming monitor and shipped it with their amazing PureXP strobing tech, which is one of the few Blur Busters approved motion clarity methods so far, BFI is great though, but not on par with PureXP, such a missed op as PureXP is what makes Viewsonic displays special, this is just a very sub-par PPI OLED display with software driven BFI (so not even hardware accelerated BFI).

To each their own. Pixle density, color quality, brightness, response, and refresh rates all matter... but depending on the person, their importance may vary. Have you tried a high refresh oled with a high ppi and solid color accuracy? It's real good... real expensive too (especially when you consider the hardware needed to push it). If you have the disposable income, it is very much worth it. If you don't, then it's a rip-off. To each their own.

This is almost perfect for what I'm looking to pick up this year. I want speakers built in for when I'm casually youtubing, as a comfort thing, so that's the main potential downside to me (there's not a lot of nice looking panels, with decent speakers, and high refresh rates).

I have an MSI monitor and I have the same issue with the bezel, the bottom is fine but there is about a 1cm border around the sides and top. Even after having it for about 2 and a half years it still catches my eye every now and again and it still pisses me off. I would have rather they had just made the plastic frame cover the part of the screen that doesn't get used.

7:40 - Oled sheets in factory are designed to be cut at larger sizes for big TVs and have minimum waste , if the factory desire to cut small screen size ( rare case because small oleds are not mainstream atm so they dont produce sheets exclusive for small screens) they waste to much material so smaller sizes oled panels are cost more compare to bigger ones ( inch to cost ratio)

To clarify something: Input lag or latency on a TV is not good unless using certain modes or settings including auto low latency modes. This is not related to pixel response time. Every OLED has a sub 1ms response time which is what is being advertised as a 0.2ms response time while some companies market nanosecond response times for OLEDs. This is not latency. There will still be processing resulting in probably around 8-16 ms click to photon latency. This is the same for all digital displays, while a very low pixel response timer reduces motion blur and improves motion clarity.

I edit video on a 32 inch 1440p monitor and at just over arms length I don't see any lines or individual pixels. Since they are gonna read the comments, I only paid $135 for my LG monitor and it has 165hz refresh and is much better edged to edge and no big bar at the bottom, other than than the same size plastic they have on that one. It has and LED ring on the back just like that one. I have had this monitor for 2 years now, and yes it has HDR, but I think with it on it's to bright.
