Is this Monster KING SALMON a WORLD RECORD?

Was this over 100 pound king salmon a world record? Angler Gayle Gordon caught the monster while trolling in River's Inlet, British Columbia but we'll never know for sure if it was a record because she practiced catch and release on the fish (good on her!)

Hadn’t heard about that one. My dad has fished Rivers since 1989. We trailered the boat from Seattle every year. A 19’ Glasply. His very first fish was 81#’s. The family and many friends have caught fish over 50. 2-63#ers in one day by my brother. This is the first year he didn’t go. Rivers Inlet, Rob and Nola have fond spots in our hearts. Legendary fishing and tons of memories. Congrats on the fish, I hope it made it to the river.

I was gonna ask if the fish was a hen or a buck, because from first glance it looked like a hen. But once I seen the mount it made sense that’s definitely a big buck. What a story and I’m so glad they realized how rare and amazing a fish like that is. Way to go for the release. Dream come true for sure, I’ve caught a lot of Big Nor Cal Kings, but I couldn’t imagine how my G-Loomis would bury on a Kwikfish take down on that beast. We can only imagine and dream. Its so freaking awesome that they release this big mother. The larger the fish, the more eggs they lay, the eggs from big old mothers are larger and more robust. The large fish are very important for the stock. It is time for a worldwide ban on taking very small and very large fish. That we are only allowed to eat medium sized fish.

@@swedenoble6083 so you commented to show off? You just come off sounding like an elitist. You're saying it's never okay to bring a fish in a boat? Besides even in the photo where his hand is on the gill plate the belly is being supported by two hands. His right hand and the woman's left. You cant judge without more photos or video. Grabbing a trout or salmon by the gill plate, if done with care, isnt a death sentence. In some cases a fish may die but most of us do as mush as possible to prevent damage doing things like wetting my hands before handling a fish but without a video I cannot say whether he handled this fish well or not 🤷‍♂️

May be wrong here, but I believe that for the "record books" the fish has to be weighed on land, on an officially certified scale. @cashotpb 2 жыл бұрын
@@roynichols5212 you understand that’s mostly in an effort to diversify genetics right? If you continue to pass on a hatchery origin fish you could potentially run into interbreeding issues. So they try to pick out the most healthy wild fish in an effort to combat that problem. Has nothing to do with the majority of the population. This is solely a breeding tactic. You obviously are one of those jaded environmentalist types that are convinced hatchery fish are inferior. Well I catch my fair share of both every season and it’s always a toss up what is clipped or unclipped. Obviously you don’t put your hands on enough salmon to understand this fact.

I am an avid outdoors man my self, but don't say it was a selfless act to release this fish, When you could have shot all those animals in the back ground with a camera instead of a gun. i am happy that you chose to do what you did with the fish. But think what you said. I hunt deer with a camera i shoot ducks with my shot gun and eat them. If i want to release i do so. But don't say it's selfless to do so. You chose cpr(catch, photo, release) for the fish but it may have not made it with all the strain you put into it with the battle. So many fish are already exhausted from traveling toward spawning grounds. Either way nice fish and may you catch a bigger one.
