I have to tell you that I had the biggest shock when we moved to Tennessee in 2019 and bought a home in Clinton to realize how close we are to all the Bates families!!! Still haven't had the luck of seeing any of them but hopefully someday😊

We wanted a 5 acre spot too but the LORD ended up giving us a one acre for now and we are finding out how much that truly is! A blessing! You will have NO question when you see the right place! We were desperate too but more so wanted God's will to be done! To God be the glory! His live endures forever! God bless y'all! You're doing a great job with life! Praise God!

We looked at SO many houses and put in tons of offers and lost all of them. And not by a small amount- the houses sold for 40-60k above asking with several all cash offers... CRAZY!!!! So, we decided to build. We never thought in years we could ever afford to build but with prices right now, it cost us the same as if we were to buy and it was our only option. WE are so glad we did this but its taking forever!!!

Evan and Carlin, I just want to encourage you with some wise words my Mom told me 30 years ago when I thought I would never find the man I would eventually marry...'Honey, you only need ONE'. Hang in there, the right house that the Lord wants you to raise your family in is out there and He will lead you to it!💗

I agree. My 2 year old grandson has put his garbage in the trash bin, picks up his toys and takes his dishes to the counter in the kitchen. Teach them young to do chores. They love being a part of something and it does teach them responsibility.

Stew Fam...take it from me...our first home when first got married all the rooms were upstairs 😱😱😱so at least get the master down stairs ...if not 2 rooms down stairs ...But our 2nd home we got a all 1 story home with the option of a bonus room upstairs ...Remember ...you can always buy but you cannot always sell...so make sure you don’t get a home near a busy street or where there is a lot of road noise ...don’t buy a home with foundation damage even if it’s been repaired and don’t buy a home that needs a lot of work unless you KNOW you have the time and the funds to fix it and mostly ...make sure you get a home where you are able afford the house payment and taxes AND enough funds to replace the air conditionerS, hot water heaters, heaters, carpet, flooring etc...as all of those things add up!! We bout a 3500 sq ft. Home but it has 2 of everything. So when things needed to be replaced it was 2 air conditioners 😱😱do you know how much those cost ?? $10 grand a piece bevause the ones the builders put in are builders grade which are the lowest grade there are...no matter how much a home costs they still put builders grade appliances and air conditioners etc! So like I said we had 2 of everything...also make sure you don’t max out your budget when buying a home ...they will tell you that you can qualify for way more than you can actually afford ...lastly try to get a 15 yr mortgage .. my husband refinanced after we moved on due to the low interest rates and buy the time we were 50 our home was paid off and just in time for our kids to start going into college which helped A LOT!! Good luck!!

Yes the little things do turn into the big things. I see it with my nieces not having to pick up their toys and leaving their house a mess. I’m nervous that when they get in older school grades they are going to have issues staying organized with school work. Breaks my teacher’s heart.

Oh y’all! I feel your pain over house hunting! We started looking in January and we put a total of 9 bids on house. The first 7 weren’t accepted because the competition was INSANE! People were buying houses sight unseen! Then #8 failed inspection so we pulled our offer and NOW… #9 is everything! God is so good! We’re supposed to be closing on August 27th! Praise the Lord! Just praying that the rest of the process goes smoothly for y’all too! ♥️♥️♥️

We understand completely. We sold our home that we had reno to our hearts desires. Didn't close on the new place because of misrepresented things ...have been living in a camper since March 2021 and just closed on a farm with a home that isn't live able. So now we are still trying to figure out what we are going to live in. At least we now have land.

The housing market is crazy everywhere right now. I was talking to a realtor from my church and she said houses were going for like 25-50k over asking price. That’s insane. They’re also going under contract before they officially go on market most of the time.

Love when the kiddos learn to be helpful!! Just be warned, their perception of helping isn’t fine tuned yet and can turn out to not be helpful!! As in you find lots of items in the trash that shouldn’t be in the trash, or toilet, or dishwasher, or washing machine!!! 🤣 Praying God leads you to the exact location to buy or build a home!!🙏🏻💕

This is a difficult time to buy with the prices up. We bought in 2004 during the boom and our house lost a third of its value by 2012. We gained it back and eventually sold for a decent profit, but it took a lot more time and a lot of patience. You’re young and even with another baby on the way just keep praying everyday and God will lead you to the right home for you!

Layla is just too cute for words! I haven’t been blessed with children of my own, but I have two nephews and a niece-all now in college. I miss the days when they were her age. It’s amazing to see the world through the eyes of a child-to watch them grow, learn, and emulate what they see you do. (Also can be a tad scary when they notice your bad habits and repeat them 😂) Layla looks just like her daddy so I’m thinking you need at least one more kiddo so you can have a mini Carlin too. Your whole family has amazing genes so I’m sure every child you have will be gorgeous! Such a family of cutie pies! Hope you find your dream home. We bought our house in 2019 and we set up 30 showings and only got to look at 5 because they kept selling before we could look. Keep your head up it is frustrating but it is worth the wait!

Our first home, back in 1990, was crazy market, too. We even had a house bought out from under us and, while riding the employee bus into work, I was discussing my disappointment with a coworker, only to learn that the house had been purchased by another coworker friend. Outbid from WITHIN the camp. 😤 We did eventually find a home and y’all willing, too. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💕

Yep, it's DEFINITELY a seller's market right now. My house in Michigan was only on the market for nine days when I got an offer for full asking price. On the other hand, I'm looking to buy in Arizona, and the one house I really wanted was gone before I could put my offer in!

It’s so true God will lead you in the direction you need to be in. We were so disappointed a couple times and Then- we were left disappointed because he knew where we needed to be and we now live in our “forever” home that we never would have found by getting one of the previous lost ones. We feel so blessed and so thankful.

My husband and I looked for eight years before finding our home four years ago. We had a contract on one and it fell through and we continued renting and looking. We finally found the house that checked off all of our boxes and we knew this is where God wanted us to be. We have wonderful neighbors and live in a good area. Keep praying and trusting. The house that you are meant to have will come along.

I was so glad to hear Evan say that you don’t want to overpay for a house that you won’t get your money back when you sell it. Too many people are buying houses right now that are not worth the asking price. I worry about those people! Praying that the right house finds you soon!

I am also house hunting for me and my two younger daughters and have had other offers chosen instead of mine or the seller's not wanting to deal with the loan I qualify for. When I get discouraged, I remember that God's timing isn't my timing and that He is faithful. He desires to bless His children and He will come through for you,Evan,and Layla and for my family too. I feel ya. We put our house on the market and the first day we had 12 showings it went into escrow the following week so we had to find a house quick and we had the same problem. We finally found the right house and we couldn’t be happier.

The housing market is definitely crazy right now! In less than 36 hours we had 19 people look at our house, 11 offers (5 of which were all cash offers) and a contract on it! All but one offer was above asking price. I do wonder if it’s because materials are so high so less people are building.

Yes, God knows the perfect place and in his timing it will happen. I was looking for a home in 2020 and looked for 6 months almost every week night and God provided the perfect home for me. Trust him !! It will happen!

If you find an area that you really like maybe have your realtor send out letters (we called it farming lol) to all homeowners in that area and let them know that they have a buyer interested in buying in their neighborhood. It’s used for realtors to get listings but also works really well when market is competitive. Continued blessings in your house hunting and with your lovely fam❤️

Find house leads that will be coming on the market yourself instead of waiting for them to show up. Join a bunch of local Facebook Buy/Sell/Garage Sale groups and post ""ISO" (in search of) posts. Ask people if they or someone they know will or may be putting their house up for sale in the next 0-3 months. Keep in mind when listing in multiple suburbs that you may not want to live in that exact suburb but someone in that group may know someone (family, friend, co-worker) who is, in an area you do want to live. Note basic requirements but keep your post reasonably brief. You'll be amazed how many leads and contacts you'll get. It also can save seller and potential buyer a large realtor fee, and that's huge for a lot of sellers! I've found a bunch of my friends houses in this crazy market by doing this!

It is a sellers market right now. We have the same house as our neighbors do and they are selling it for $400,000. When we bought these houses back in 1985 we bought them for $60,000. So Wow so much money now! Hope you find something you want for a good price!

Thanks for your comments on house hunting. We have been going through the same type of thing and just reiterating that God has His hand on you finding the right thing is so true. There is a reason behind everything.

I was under contract for a house, just 10 days from closing, and my financing fell through. Had the money, but couldn't show a monthly distribution from an annuity. So keep the faith, even if it's under contract, there's still a chance.

We're going thru the exact same issues looking for a home to purchase. Every single home we inquire about already has several offers, above asking. One was right in our price range and perfect for us. It sold in two days for $45k more than asking. It really is hard looking for a home these days.

Get pre approved for your mortgage, that way you have all your ducks in a row when the right house comes along. Also do not finance as much as the lender says you can afford, they do not include emergencies and loss work time into their equation. (Such as pregnancy, sick children, medical bills)

It is a big decision and the market is over inflated…When the right one comes around, it will happen

We just closed on our house last Friday. It was the 3rd one we were actually under contract on and probably the 6th or 7th one we bid on. As stressful and crazy as it has been, I can say for sure, God closes doors for a reason. If any of those had gone through, we wouldn’t have gotten this one, and I see now why all the others didn’t work out. It’s hard to see when you’re going through it, and it can be a punch in the gut, but at the end, it all makes sense. He will find y’all the perfect home and if you don’t get one, it’s not the one for you. Patience is hard in this market, but so worth it in the end! 💙💙💙

People in Los Angeles are paying full cash for houses. We’ve been looking for 3 years and every time we find a house we like there’s been a full cash offer or offered over $200k on asking price

We just moved into our forever home a month ago. It’s a nice 81 year old house and has a lot of character and not much wrong with it.

I remember telling you several years ago when you showed the land, buy now but now I’m saying take your time, God will have the right house and land especially for you. Don’t settle just to be buying. It took us several years to find our land. right now land and houses are too high and they will come down, please know that. Don’t get discouraged, your house with land is out there. Just watch how God works.

My neighbors house was on the market 8 days and sold for above asking. I couldn’t believe it. The buyer also wanted to close within 30 days. They where (my old neighbors) moving out yesterday and the new family is moving in today.

Finding a house is so hard sometimes. It was bad enough when we bought our house 2 years ago. Everytime we went to look there was at least a dozen other people putting offers on it too. It started to feel impossible. And it was a bit scary because we had to be out of our townhouse by a certain date. We started praying God would hide a house for us and in a manner of speaking He did just that. Most houses went on the market Wednesday through Friday. Our house went on the market on a Monday and no one was really looking. There was one other offer but we won the bid because we wrote a letter to the sellers. Our realtor said the letter is what blew our offer out of the water. God will help you find just the right house when the time is right!
