When I spotted a small figure in the mud I had no idea that it could in fact be an extremely rare find! I still don't know if it is, but maybe you can tell me! Join me on the Thames foreshore to search for treasures old and new washed out with the tide. Then come back to my studio to find out more about them. And maybe you can also help with more info.
At the end of this video, my son Angelo Tristan talks about his forthcoming album. If you would like to support him and his band, you can find the link here to pre-order the album he refers to:-
cargorecordsdirect.co.uk/prod...
And if indeed you do preorder it, know that he and I are extremely grateful! Thank you!
If you would like to mudlark on the River Thames, you need a permit from the Port of London Authority. You can find their website here:-
www.pla.co.uk/Environment/Tha...
Thank you for watchng. You can follow me on twitter and instagram @tidelineart
See you soon. Nicola White

Thank you for watching this somewhat looong video. I had so much to talk about. I gave my son Angelo a few moments at the end to tell you about his new album. If enough people preorder it his band "Collateral" could get in the UK charts. If you would like to support them the link is here cargorecordsdirect.co.uk/products/collateral-rewired With sincere thanks to you all ( whether you order it or not). Love Nicola xx

The Button is the Cardigan Millitia (Prince of Wales Own) as used on the 1797 pattern Infantry coatee made of pewter (Other ranks) and silver gilt for officers. The smaller Star Wars figure is an Imperial snow trooper from The Empire Strikes Back (1980) Missing his thermal field skirt. The larger figure is Rea from Episode VII The Force Awakens (2015) as Played by Daisy Riddley, Grandaughter of playwrite Arnold Riddley (Of Dad's Army fame). hopefully this has gone some way to answering your questions😃

I would like to say this: I just returned home from a 10 day visit to London, and with my Foreshore permit, spent many low tide hours mudlarking,in my humble, rookie way. And I thrilled at every millisecond of it,even if my finds were few and far between! Yes,Nicola, inspired this adventure, but so did all of you who post videos, too! I’m saying this here, based on the assumption that EVERYONE is watching Nicola’s videos,so it’s the best place for me to say this to all of you. The mudlarks. I felt the foreshore pass under my feet,as wave upon wave splashed upon my boots. I felt the exhilaration of a find, and the laugh-inducing discovery of a non- find! I thrilled at seeing the mighty river suddenly racing east, chasing the moon. I witnessed old bricks, somehow, impossibly tumble in the wake of the river. I heard that subtle, hypnotic tinkling of the finer bits moving back and forth amongst the waves. And I felt the cool September water upon my hands,as I welcomed so many lovely things into mine. So yeah, thank you,MUDLARKS! You affected my life. ❤️

The chewing gum man was amazing. I walked across that bridge about ten years ago but did not notice the paintings; he may not have been active then. But these are very nice; his paint dabbed clothing were works of art in themselves. It is also difficult to paint lying down except when you are about five years old.....I love to see what you find mudlarking. It is such a historic hobby.

Imperial Snowtrooper. First appeared in "The Empire Strikes Back" in 1980. The figure appears to be of vintage manufacture from the same time period. Not really sure how rare he is, but a cool find. Hopefully he'll look better after a thorough cleaning. :)

You found a Star Wars figure and that's awesome. I had a massive collection of vintage. Great video. It's a Snowtrooper from The Empire Strikes Back, it's missing his skirt. The larger modern Star Wars is the main heroine Rey Skywalker from the last trilogy.

It was an imperial snow trooper, serving on the planet hoth, originally he would have been completely white, but over time the white turned yellow on the legs and arms,he was produced in 1980 after empire strikes back, and would have come with a vinyl white waist cloak and a dark blue long blaster, worth a fair bit if in mint condition.

I'm from Ghent, Belgium. Years ago I was waiting at a bus stop in the center, and thought I saw a homeless person with dirty clothes next to a cafe, laying on the floor. Another cracking video, thank you Nicola. Your son is an absolute credit to you, I wish him and his band all the luck in the world. And thank you for those Yardley ads, I remember those little pots of lip gloss from the 70s and 80s 😂 Annoyingly I was working on the weekend when you were at Waterman's Hall, but I managed to get to the Guildhall today and it was a real thrill to actually be able to touch Roman coins and medieval pottery and see uranium glass up close and to see some of the faces of the people I follow on social media. As I was saying to Mrs Mudlark, I'm so grateful to you and the mudlarking community for finding and saving all these precious pieces of our history. You guys are just the best! xxx Karen (PS I still live in hope that one day I'll bump into you or Si-finds on the foreshore, for me that would be the equivalent of you finding a hammered coin or a complete onion bottle 😉)

Hello from Sweden ! 🇸🇪 I too recognized The Watzin's Keratin bottle at once, as it has a very specific design. I was thinking: when Nicola turns it over it must say Watzin on the bottom. I have a couple of those which I found in old dumps. Apparently a popular product which my mom remembers from the 40's and 50's. When you look it up you find that it's still sold today in bottles of the same design, although sadly made of plastic...

@ 5:45 that's actually a Snowtrooper and not a Stormtrooper from the Empire Strikes Back circa 1980. @30:51 that's Rey from The Last Jedi, one of the recent set of Star Wars movies. The little person who was inside R2-D2 was Kenny Baker. I think you said Kenny Rogers, who was a popular Country Western singer here in America back in the 70's and 80's.

Awesome video, Nicola! Jell-O is made from bone marrow! I eat that green lime flavored kind all the time!😆 I am not a star wars fan but I am nostalgic for the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. Recently I happened across a video on the cooperation between George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg and their agreement to promote each other's films. So, in E.T. you see Elliott playing with Star Wars toys and later E.T., disguised as a ghost, follows a kid in a Yoda costume while saying "Home! Home!". Well later, if you look really closely, you will see a booth full of E.T.s in Star Wars, The Phantom Menace. I think it is in the Senate meeting scene. E.T.'s species is called the Aspergians in the franchise lore 😊👍🇺🇸🇬🇧

Rey! Daisy Ridley played Rey... and won't give away who she is but she had the Force for sure. So sad some poor child lost her. My grand daughter used to love dressing as her, her mother would do her hair and her father got her the costume. Many memories seeing both those Star Wars figures, my son with the Hoth (ice planet), well the grandkid too, we often had to hide in the closet pretending to be on Hoth when she visited. The 'Beano' character was 'Wilfred' who was one of the 'Bash Street Kids' who attended that fine seat of learning, Bash Street School back when I were a young'un, I'm now pushing 73. I've seen enamelled steel signs, probably repros advertising 'Virol' on heritage railways, I always wondered what it was. Keep up the Good Work Nicola!

Arrived back from London and took all the lovely memories (and finds) with me. It was so lovely to meet you on the foreshore Nicola. Here you made again a wonderful video. I loved the artist Chewing Gum Man's work, that's different and your son is marvelous, wishing him good luck to reach the UK charts! Hugs xxx

Hi, what an interesting, eclectic, humorous video Nicola. Its lovely that you clean up some of the plastic on the foreshore as you discover ancient treasures. Interesting interview with Ben the chewing gum man, what a character! Makes you realise we are a 'throw away' society in every aspect. Your videos make me happy, thank you so much for taking us all along with you, lovely to see Angelo's respect and love for his mum. Take care xx

Oh my! You spoke what has been in my heart for ages! I would love to go back in time, not to interact with life there lest I might change something. But to be like a fly on the wall so to speak to witness various events taking place or to be privy to conversations on important subjects that folks can only guesstimate as to what was being said.
