The fact that jakarta is more safety than Kuala Lumpur is impressive. People always go to Overrated Bali and skip other islands that are much more beautiful, this is a big job for the Indonesian government so that tourism is not Bali-centric.

Hati-hati means becareful, take care, watch your step, well something like that. So when you want to step out from train, stair etc we (Indonesian) say "Hati hati dijalan" means be safe or take care, "hati hati melangkah" means watch your step, something like that means to be aware for your self. Mean while Ayo means like Let's go or Vamos in Spanish

That area of Little Tokyo that you guys went to is actually more than just having Japanese influence but it is a Japanese town in Jakarta. If you go there at night you will see lot of Japanese who live in Jakarta are going there and most of the Japanese restaurants and businesses in there are run by Japanese. Nowadays, that place transformed into more than just Japanese town but also cool hangout spot for youngsters. That is why you see a lot of street foods, nice cafes and food shop in there. Glad you guys enjoy your time in Blok M and please do explore more part of Jakarta, have a great time !

Not only to avoid crimes (pickpocket, fraud, etc), but it also to minimize accidents, like slip, stumble, being cold of rain, being exhausted and lost control, etc. It's very populer in Indonesia to suggest carefulness, especially from mother to her children, or from teacher or elder. Or even from friend. As a form of concern or affection.

In this context, hati hati means "take care your self". It's also a hope/ pray so your journey is safe. We say hati2, one package for saying goodbye. The other context of hati2 might be "be careful"

Personally, if you want to just eat with a lot of cuisines & dessert options and chat, do a little shopping and chill, it's good to go to Kota Kasablanka Mall or Lotte Avenue Mall. Also there's this one super market, i can say a super supermarket that has this viral pizza called Grand Lucky in SCBD. You can also chill on SCBD Park, it's an outdoor place for youths and young office workers to chill after office hours. There're a lot of cafe and places to eat. there's this viral(?) noodle called mie tjap 1000? if i'm not mistaken. I have not try it yet tho. Just for a little reference.

That type of drink is what we would count as a "health drink" in Indonesia. Kind of a traditional remedy for several illnesses (fever, sore throat, colds, heartburns). Made out of Gypsum fibrosum, it's not carbonated because we believe that carbonated drinks is not good for your health.

You've mixed up. ASTRA INDONESIA is owner of Toyota, Honda Motorcycle, etc in Indonesia while ASTRO is TV station in Malaysia. You're around my neighborhood also to Barack Obama, Kuningan + Menteng, South Jakarta and Central Jakarta as one. Many foreign embassies are around including Dutch, Australian, etc. Da Vinci apartment tower is very old but very exclusive, very limited units, and the same price as in upper class areas in Europe. If you wanted to get authentic Indonesian street food you've stepped out too early, you should step out at Sarinah Plaza behind the plaza there's SABANG STREET with nice authentic street food. And and about 200 meters further you'd find "kampung turis" tourist village at Jalan Jaksa.

The name of the MRT stations are following the name of the building above, or the nearest biggest or famous building nearby. So the ASTRA station, or the MasterCard Station, is not sponsored by ASTRA or MasterCard, but the station is just located below those buildings.

No, it’s a sponsored advertisement for the company, (Dukuh Atas BNI, Setiabudi Astra, Istora Mandiri, Blok M BCA and Lebak Bulus Grab). MRT offered them naming rights as the deal as an effort to increase revenue. Lebak Bulus GRAB for example, Grab payed 33 billion rupiah for that.

However, it's also right that those companies also secured the name by contributing to allow the MRT station construction and support the funding as well for that specific station.

@@jusufagung They don’t have to use whatever building nearby, and they can’t also because BNI, Astra, etc are different commercial entity either trademarks etc. That’s why MRT as part of the government ‘offer’ them naming rights, but the have to pay and contribution billions of Rupiah to MRT for their name to be as a station name. They have press conferences of that. Grab have to pay Rp 33 milliar just to put their name as a station.
