At a time when the TV picture was still practically square and HD was best understood as heavy duty, the Group 5 had its heyday. Between 1968 and 1982, this motorsport series featured the sharpest and fastest touring cars, sports cars or special production cars from all renowned brands from Alfa Romeo to BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Mercedes and Porsche to Nissan and Toyota. Especially the cars of the last generation with their mutated turbos and a power-to-weight ratio of almost 1:1 offered an incredible spectacle and demanded everything from material and drivers.
But how does it look from the driver's point of view to beat the Moby Dick aka Porsche 935 over a historic track? Driver's Eye, POV and Mixed Reality are the magic words. It's August 28, 1980 and I'm competing against 31 turbo monsters on the historic Hockenheim circuit including the ultra-fast Nordkurve in a 6-lap race ... enjoy!
Here I am using the mod package of ‪@didouc‬. Please see the links further below on where to get them. They are for free and significantly extend and enrich AMS 2's car list.

Great video! Just one comment, what you call the Nordkurve (North corner) is actually the Ostkurve (East corner). The Nordkurve is the first turn, and the Südkurve (South corner) the last turn. It makes sense when you look at it on a map. The chicanes are called Bremskurve 1 and Bremskurve 2 (Brake corner). Later, a third chicane was added before the Ostkurve, which was then called the Bremskurve 2, and the last chicane renamed Bremskurve 3. Gotta love the way Germans structure things. Later still, the first and last chicanes were renamed Clark kurve and Senna kurve, but when the track was modernized, they again called them for what they were: Einfahrt Parabolika (Entry to the Parabolika), Parabolika and Spitzkehre (literally: pointy turn).

Hey Timo, mega-geil dieses Video zu schauen. Wirklich toll gemacht. Hatte ebenfalls die Idee den Capri auf Hockenheim 1977 zu fahren und ein Video von zu machen, aber dann hatte ich keinen Bock ein Video aufzunehmen. Egal, mach ich bestimmt noch und du mach weiter so. Danke für dein Video...🙏

Glad to see some mods appearing for AMS2. I loved group 5 in AC. A bit strange to see the 935 struggling to pass others on straights though. Probably had 150-200 hp more than those Capris and even more than the BMWs. But the 935 had probably about 150 kg more so was not as nimble as the Capri.

That version of the Capri is massively underrated for its abilities in the days. Watched more Classic Race Car events during past decade with the Group5 Zakspeed Ford Capri Turbo as guest and massively explosive....for the ears too, excellent!

Can you do a "How to install" video for these mods? Even the website is a bit confusing. I've installed a few VRC mods in AMS2 but I don't know if these install the same. I don't even see the download files for these cars on his site.

At 3:15 it's of course the Datsun 280ZX I am drag-racing with, and at 12:17 it's the Nissan Skyline I am approaching. And, yeah, what I stubbornly call "Nordkurve" is in fact the "Ostkurve" 🙃

I have Stayed away from the Mods Because im Not Confident they will feel Good to Drive. What us Your Opinion on Physics and FFB of these Mod Cars?

Afaik they are a conversion from PC2. FFB is decent in my opinion. Not as detailed as the Gr. 5 in RaceRoom but not bad at all. I feel connected and am in control of the car. The physics do not have the quirky slidey behavior as many PC2 cars had.
