I don't have that exact same one, but i do have a fair few switched ones just like that and never ever had any issue with the switches, so it may just be that Otaku unit that has switch issues. I certainly have had issues with the SCART sockets being too loose to work correctly, and replacing the SCART sockets fixed that straight away. Tim Worthington sells the SCART sockets in bulk, incredibly cheap. (Got tons left, if you live in QLD and want to bring it round we could try swapping the SCART sockets out, depends on how poxy the quality of those Otaku PCBs was it probably wouldn't take long) Some of mine are the European made 3 in 1 out switched ones, been using those ones for more than 25 years now and never had a switch fail or cause issues, the other one i bought from Ebay not long ago, 6 in 1 out with swtiches, $82 AUD delivered. Perfectly good image from all of those, and i"m using a very high end reference grade CRT projector on a 130" screen, every single imperfection will be easy enough to see. I have a few videos up where that Barco Cine 9 can be seen with various retro games, there is a few videos of my playing light gun games on it. As good as these look, i won't touch an auto switching SCART switcher, it MUST have physical switches to ensure complete disconnect. Eventually that will have issues with the auto-switching one way or another, the switched ones never will. I've heard enough people say there was issues on some of these using some specific consoles if more than one was left on. Incidents like that happen, easy enough when you have a few mates around and you swap to another console forgetting to shut the previous one off. TTL sync is what arcade PCBs and computers generally use. Higher voltage peak to peak, that's all. The term "SCART" isn't a word, it is an acronym. You're probably well aware it does not indicate RGB either, loads of SCART equiped TVs didn't have RGB, some had it only on one input, some had it on all inputs, truckloads of source devices also never put out anything more than composite video via SCART.

Have you had any issues such as audio clipping or distortion? Some people have reported that in the past with consoles such as the N64 which output a high audio voltage, but it's not clear whether this has been fixed in the new versions of Hydra. Also does the switch for choosing between USB or DC barrel jack power effectively act as a power switch? So that could be used to turn off the LEDs when not in use?

What's also nice about this Hydra switch is you can expand it. I have the doubled "W" version that has 16 SCART ports for input.
