I have used ACF-50 for a few years which has been okay, but no amazing! After watching a Bennetts KZfaq comparison, I've tried the XCP Rust Blocker Clear Coat on the Tracer 700!
Applied using my Parker Brand Air Compressor!

Great video! Just to be sure to buff off any excess before it dries. That'll remove any drips or where you layed it on a little thick, it won't be as shiny but it will be enough to protect the bike! :)

just about to do the same job on a new tracer 7. If you've got a compressor you can use a mini HVLP gun rather than a full size. Slightly easier to use and more directional. Having said that, if you mange to get a good spray pattern at low pressure with a standard sized gun, it'll be quicker. Thanks for posting this up

Hi Sam, what makes your vlog stand out is the prep at the start, having sprayed all sorts in my past and made such a hash of it by having cheap spray guns and not fine tuning the spray pattern, much more critical with paint than this though. I use acf 50 and i have tried varying nozzles sizes but have found the 1.0 mm nozzle the best for misting. I remove my seat as I like to do the frame and electrics under the seat where condensation lurks and even raise the fuel tank to do the frame. I also use detailing brushes £5 on e bay to do my brake caliper bolts and housings as well as my wheels. When I wipe the excess off the bike with a microfibre cloth i keep the cloth is a plastic bag and use it to wipe the wheels. I dont know wether its meant for it but I do not lube my chain but paint it with acf then wipe. Current chain on 18000. Not tried this but loved the Bennets video. Wish I knew how to make a video. Theres something very therapeutic about seeing a bike this shiny and clean. The other thing i do is in between washes I used gt85 spray on and leave. I know it washes off but replenishes that finish as I only do acf twice a year. Well done on a great video and the look on your face on how the bike looks😎😎. Just bought an nc in the background too😎

Thank you! I've made the mistake of painting things in the past with not enough prep so approaching this made sense to treat it the same! Sounds like you do a better job that I do though! Haha! Appreciate the kind words and congratulations on the NC - its an awesome machine!

Just found your channel for the first time, great video, I have a compressor and bike dryer on my list to 🎅 this year just for this purpose. Both this and the compressor video have hleped me ralise this is the way forward. I was gonna pay allyearbiker to do the bike at £85 per treatment but figure investing in the kit is an investment worth it in the long run. All the kit may cost a little over the cost of 2 applications but once ive done the treatment twice its almost paid for itself. Any long-term gremlins/ issues with that compresssor? You now have a new subscriber, keep up the great work.
@SamVBikes
@SamVBikes 7 ай бұрын
Thank you! That's exactly why I ended up buying it all myself! After a few coatings you're in the green by quite some way. And you get the pleasure of buying new tools which... who doesn't love that?! No gremlins at all with the compressor, fires up with no issues at all. I always drain it after use and just leave it empty unless I plan to do any substantial work. Just redone the bikes this year and it worked first time again. I would probably up the size if I had the space just so it didn't kick in as much but it's got plenty of oomph!

@@SamVBikes Ha! I love it, compared with standard ACF it blows it out the window. The only thing I’ve managed to get thats anywhere close is ACF’s saline/boat version called corrosion block (green, stinks) which is designed for salt+water - also cracking for our shitty salt laden roads over winter. Also in my experience running the engine to burn off the residue helps it bind the metal a little better for some reason Subbed!

Sorry but I have another question regarding your Clarke Pro Spray gun. Why did you choose the 1.8mm nozzle as opposed to the smaller size 1.4mm? The reason I ask is that Machine Mart in their blurb for these spray guns recommend compressors with motors producing 3hp or more for the 1.8mm nozzle hub and 2hp or more with the 1.4mm nozzle gun. I have just bought the same compressor as you but the 50 litres one. I am not sure whether to get the 1.4mm or 1.8 nozzle spray guns? You didn't find any probs using the 1.8mm nozzle spray gun with your compressor? Also what cleaners did you use to prepare the bike before applying the XCF coating? Many thanks.
@SamVBikes
@SamVBikes 2 жыл бұрын
No problem! I have had no issue with the 1.8mm jet. I'd assume you would get a finer spray with the 1.4mm but using it for the XCP doesnt seem to matter. Maybe with paint you might find that more important! This compressor has no issue running this spray gun at all. Cleaning the bike down, I used a mix of cleaners, mucoff, snowfoam, and a vehicle shampoo which doesnt have any waxes or coating properties as I wanted to strip everything off the bike. Thanks
