Bought this tripod about 6 months ago and love it. It fixes every issue I've ever had with this style of tripod. And I prefer the more travel style tripods to the traditional ENG style because I work with mirrorless cams.

Seriously, they did a killer job with this. I've been excited to get my hands on it for a while now :) Glad you're enjoying it too!

Those tripods look awesome. Now I mostly use my camera outside for photos and not videos, and I mostly go on trips with my tripod so one of the main requirements for me is as less weight as possible while being able to hold my camera weight (Canon 70D + Tamron 18-270mm) and being compact as possible... So for now I'll stay with my Manfrotto BeFree carbon which weights 1KG only. I do think of upgrading 1 day but I don't want to get something that heavier sadly...

The BeFree is pretty close to the MeFoto I have used in the past I think- like you said, a killer little lightweight compact tripod especially for photos. If you do get over to the video-on-the-go side of things though, this would be a great place to start :)
@DimusTech5 жыл бұрын
@@ScottDumas I guess, but I wonder if there's something else lightweight... I'd consider going 200 grams more for the PeakDesign one, but I don't see it adding so many options in comparison to the beefree I have now.
@ScottDumas5 жыл бұрын
@@DimusTech For photo I totally get that... I honestly would probably choose the beefree or a similar design over the PeakDesign too. Proper video tripods (if you're planning on having pan/tilt movement at least) would have different appeals though. Straight up non-moving video would be a different story though and the Beefree is once again a great choice :)

I have it. Its very solid. Good features and build quality. But it doesn't pack well. Even if you take the head off, its still 70cm / 28" long Its not good to carry around - its ok for the studio and if you drive in your car some place to do a job. Its Nothing for hikes, unless you bring a mule, after all, you have more stuff than just a tripod to bring.

Thanks for this review. It s look like fantastic for travel . I look for something light but pro to get stable shots. You told someone that the komodo k5 is very similar to the 500 AH. I have a similar head from manfrotto the 502 AH. My question ist about the pan and tilt smoothness....? is it similar because the k5 seems so little....? I work with a video panasonic camera that weighs about 3kg and also lumix GH4. I was thinking to buy the gazelle TC6 with the komodo K5 head. ( or it will be better the komodo k7 with gazelle TC7 ? I think the weigh is not very different... i don’t know if you had the opportunity to try it or see it? Thanks !

Thanks for watching! You might get a little bit smoother movement out of the Manfrotto options just because it's easier to accurately dial in the drag, the controls on the K5 are smaller (especially on the pan axis) so it's trickier to dial in carefully. Otherwise the head is fantastic though. I'm realllly curious how their K7 will compare, I hope to get a chance to try that out. If you're looking for something in the 502AH range though that has even higher performance at a great price, I'd recommend the TERIS TCE (even if it's just for the head). I have a review of it very recently if you're curious.

Hi Scot, I do have a question about this tripod, is it suitable to use with a full Gimbal-head and crop camera with 400mm lens for wildlife photography?
@ScottDumas4 жыл бұрын
Hi! In all honesty I've never used a gimbal head myself, but I assume it should work as long as the weight is not over the limit. Having a gimbal head though I assume things will be well balanced so there's not a lot of weight out far putting torque on the ball head causing it to slip, so you should be ok.

I'm thinking of getting the TC7, and was go6to pair it with the Manfrotto 500AH fluid head. Have you seen this head? If so how does it compare with the Komodo K5?
@ScottDumas4 жыл бұрын
Hi! I have used the 500AH and for me it was honestly too physically large for what it does. The actual functionality isn't much different from the K5, and the K5 is smaller (but still uses manfrotto style plates). I think either could work for sure but I wouldn't expect to get too much more performance from the Manfrotto since it's still a preset counterbalance just like the K5. Hope that helps :)

What's the tripod at 3:41?

That's a video tripod from TERIS ...I forget the model name but they're mostly the same just with different payloads :)

How does this compare to the Benro aero tripods?
@ScottDumas4 жыл бұрын
I've never tried the Benro myself, but they seem fairly similar in some ways. I think you'll get a bit more of a high quality feel from the iFootage but it depends what you're looking for and maybe what's more readily available for you.

I have a few but the one in this video (my favorite) is the Micro 2 from Zeapon :) Here's my review of it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gLpkia-cyZ2chqc.html
