If you have not heard, Gearbox has purchased the rights to the Risk of Rain 2 franchise. Could this be the end? Or perhaps will things work out alright? If history is anything to go by, this will not end well...

ive got beef with gearbox. borderlands 2 is my favorite game and ive been playing since release (with breaks) and they did great with the game mostly. but they released a sort of free dlc for the events between bl2 and bl3 which is cool on paper. but they added two new over powered levels and eight new levels. capping the level to 80 and overpower level to 10. messing up the already unbalanced mess at op 8 (i enjoy the op levels prior to the extra two). they bugged out two raid bosses health bars to double the normal health, making it extremely extremely extremely complicated killing them solo without abusing some weapon bugs or playing on Salvador. they made an update to all borderlands games to promote their stupid fake fucking NEW tales from the borderlands, and it literally broke all games. a very very very small update. broke three games at the same time. bl1 remastered had horrible fps, as well as bl2, idk what the bugs were for the pre sequel cos that game ass. and it took them a month and a half i think to fucking fix it. it also reset everyones settings. i swore once they had broken my favorite game where it was literally unplayable id never buy another gearbox game. and now gearbox bought the most chill late night vibin game, that i have a very close emotional connection with. gearbox literally hates us gamers lmao

Holy cow! I had idea it was that bad with borderlands! I had heard that the third game wasn't well received, I didn't know they turned it into a buggy mess!

@@YoboPlays yeah bl3 gunplay was sick af, but they killed a beloved character for a whiny brat who had no story arc to admit her faults (a cutscene was cut to kind of redeem the brat, but they didnt put it in). bl3 also just felt like it had the illusion of “going to planets and exploring other vaults” but the vaults were a snoozefest, and pandora felt absolutely nothing like pandora from bl1 and 2. and the planets we go to kind of feel watered down and nowhere near as in depth as bl2 maps. i really hope they dont mess up ror2 with buggy updates, broken scaling/making items just trash scaling. but i know they will, thankfully i play on pc so i will break my stubbornness of not playing mods because they are mostly unbalanced, and mod out any update gearbox puts out LOL

True the modding scene is really good for the game! Though one thing I might suggest is to think about editing in lunar coins now, just incase gearbox decides to start adding "lunar coin packs" for $5.99

so many people act like gearbox acquiring ror franchise is the end of the world.. as stated by developers on the discord, hopoo are finished with the game. all their imagination was wasted on sotv update. *they have NOTHING else to add to the game.* not to mention working almost 5+ worth of development years on one single game can get really boring currently, gearbox has done absolutely nothing yet. crying about them right now is meaningless. just because they've done dirty one franchise it doesn't mean they will ruin another. stop acting like you're the magician predicting future. you wanted more ror, you will still get it, just not from the same group.

I understand the sentiment, but one of the biggest points of contention for me is gearboxes treatment of the console port of ror2. For its entire life so far, it's been buggy, laggy, and different from the vision that hopoo had for the game (for a quick example, aegis didn't work with any healing items. gearbox decided to only make aegis give you shield from damage based healing like leaching seed and scythe). So i think there is justifiable motivation to be wary of gearbox as they already gave a track record in this game of screwing it up. And to your point of hopoo being done and not getting any more ror2 after this, I would have been fine if they stopped development and left it as the modding scene is adding a whole new life to the game. But under gearbox, mods/modding could be done away with very easily in favor of lootboxes (which is already in their flagship series). while I do not know the future, it's not unforeseeable for them to do away with lunar coin editing in favor of lunar coin microtransactions, adding new skins or abilities locked behind lootboxes, etc. So its not people crying in the face of a small change, there are justifiable fears here, and gearbox has had a spotty track record when it comes to things like this

@@ouiouibaguet258 DO YOU HAVE BRAIN DAMAGE, LOOK AT EVERY OTHER FRANCHISE GEARBOX HAS AQUIRED, EACH ON THEYVE FUCKED INTO THEIR GRAVES. THOSE FRANCHISES WILL NEVER GET CONTINUED BECAUSE GEARBOX KILLED THEM.
