Is This the First Red Hulk TV Appearance?

In this video I look at a red hulk like monster shown on the Saturday morning TV show Bigfoot and Wildboy and ask is this like the first appearance of the Red Hulk on television? The monster appears to resemble a Hulk as it might have appeared on the Bill Bixby show even though it's clearly not officially called a Hulk, it appears to at least be a Hulk TV clone.
The episode from Bigfoot and Wildboy refers to the creature as the Titan. Interestingly enough, the creature is played by Carel Struycken who went on to play the character Lurch on the Addams Family movies just as Ted Cassidy, who did the voice of the Lou Ferrigno Hulk, had played the original Lurch on that TV series. This episode is like watching Bigfoot vs the Red Hulk in a fight that's very cool, but doesn't last very long.
Also, find out the official first appearance of the Red Hulk in the comics and on television.

Fun fact. Grey was Hulks original color. They changed it to green because they couldn’t keep the shade of grey consistent.

Stan Goldberg is the one that suggested the green color. This has literally been common knowledge for DECADES. Newbie comic fans who discovered comics via the movies feel like if they learn something, no one else knew it previously. SMH....

Oh man, if that had been how The Hulk looked, the show would've never lasted past maybe the pilot episode, if that had aired at all! That creature looks pathetic and just laughable compared to how frightening Lou Ferrigno's Hulk looked. The flashing effect as he changed back to normal was worse than any glowing green light ever was! Remember, Richard Kiel was originally cast as the Jade Giant and he didn't have the musculature that Lou had. Judging by this, Richard Kiel painted red and wearing a frightwig would've been an absolute disaster.

It's rarely brought up, but Red Hulk was also mentioned in Marvel Year In Review, in either 1992 or 1993, as an EXTREME! version of Hulk. It was a joke, poking fun at the 90s trend of creating comic characters who were just EXTREME! versions of existing characters.

Wow, great video. I tried to catch every epiosode of Wild Boy and Bigfoot (we just called it "Bigfoot") each week. In fact until seeing tjis I thought I had seen them all. I know I'd remember a pseudo-Hulk battle with bigfoot. Especially one where the "Hulk" actor looks kimda like the Jaws (James Bond)/"To Serve Man" actor. That neon red wig is so bright it almost looks like a glow FX. Was it? I think you're right on the money with this being kinda-sorta the true 1st Red Hulk. Shows how cool one (via 70s TV) would've looked for the Hulk to fight, but at least we got the tall, skinny evil Hulk fight (and a 2-parter). It makes me realize how odd it is that Marvel TV never went for a "Bigfoot" episode. After all, they had him fight Sasquatch the Canadian superhero. What a missed oportunity.

I’m glad that Stan Lee insisted that Ken Johnson keep the Hulk green for the TV show. You can’t change the visual appearance of a popular character into something unrecognizable, especially when how he looks is tied into his mythos and the reason for why he’s feared. Plus, judging by this footage, A bright Red Hulk wouldn’t look good or convincing in live action

I missed that episode when it first aired, and learned about it here on KZfaq. I saw most of the episodes of "Bigfoot and Wildboy". They could only do so much on TV with a super low budget and the Standards and Practices Department keeping them from showing real battles. Sort of neat way to push a Storyline for a First Red Hulk Origin on a Bigfoot and Wildboy Saturday Morning Series TV Show! Carel Struycken aka Second Lurch for 1991 Addam's Family Movie! He did play a Ted Cassidy lookalike and role very well! "The Titan" (Red Hulk) Episode of Bigfoot and Wildboy was Cool to see with him in it! Just wish that they would of Pushed this 20 Episode Classic onto DVD! Monika Ramirez aka Susie was So Pretty, Cute and Sweet! Wish they would of kept Her and Character for the whole Season's Run! I discovered this on one of my deep dives into Saturday Morning TV shows of the past, as I was too little to appreciate it when it aired. And I am pretty sure I can explain the ending. Saturday Morning Standards and Practices of the day basically said that there was to be no violence at all on Saturday Morning TV as it would make us kids develop into twisted adults. Or something like that. That was probably the best the writers could come up with without having the two characters throwing punches. The business of getting around the prohibition of violence was never funnier than in the first episode of the series, where aliens land and foment quite possibly the lamest takeover of the earth ever. Not going to get into specifics here, but they are foiled when Bigfoot distracts them by throwing boulders while Wildboy frees their companions. Yes you read that right. There are shots of Bigfoot throwing boulders, said boulders sailing through the air, and landing in some field nowhere near the aliens, all while the aliens just stare at this happening. Of course giving Wildboy said opportunity to free his companions and get control of the doohickey enslaving the humans. If you could do a video on that episode I"m sure it would be hilarious.

The "Red Hulk" [and every other monster] vs. Bigfoot was sunk by more than cheap production values. I lived through that whole sad era that began in 1969 as the first major movement against violence on television rose and smashed Saturday Morning TV like Hulk. Overnight, it felt like, things like SPACE GHOST, JONNY QUEST, the Filmation SUPERMAN, BATMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE, THE MIGHTY MIGHTOR, THE HERCULOIDS and other shows vanished -- replaced by things like THE GET-ALONG GANG and KISSYFUR. Oh -- and there had to be a moral lesson taught that the hero would carefully explain to the stupid kids at home in a segment at the end. The super-hero and action shows that did appear were ultra-limited on what they could show. If you ever come across the one-shot magazine, The Jonny Quest Files, JQ creator Doug Wildey goes on for pages about how insane the anti-violence campaign got at one point. ("You can't show a gun on a kid's cartoon!!" "But the bad guys are soldiers! Maybe we could draw rifles slung over their shoulders that they never remove, just to show they're soldiers?" "No!" "Well, anyway, this episode is called 'Highway of Death.'" "YOU CAN'T USE THE WORD DEATH ON A KID'S CARTOON!!" ". . . and in this part they run through a sewer and see rats --" "YOU CAN'T SHOW A RAT ON A CARTOON! YOU'LL SCAR ALL THE CHILDREN OF AMERICA FOR LIFE!!!") [TMNT wouldn't have stood a chance.] This went on into the time of BIGFOOT AND WILDBOY. Fist-fights with monsters or supervillains were right out. Even property damage was questionable beyond the occasional door and wooden crate. At least Bigfoot was allowed to hurl honkin' big boulders across the landscape . . .
@tvcrazyman

Yeah, I always hated the whole "cartoon violence is bad thing". I didn't mind a moral lesson, but the violence thing was just silly. I know they cut into Looney Tunes cartoons pretty bad I think trying to make them free of cartoon violence. They always seemed choppy to me, at least, like stuff was taken out.

The last good hulk character and the real hulk is red hulk Bruce banner becomes a serial killer/spacecraft but general ross died fighting that monster proving that Bruce banner is not able to keep people safe from the hulk. Red hulk also shot abomination in the face for killing his daughter but Bruce let abomination live. Red hulk wanted to protect Betty when Bruce ignored her being beat by she hulk. Bruce banner is a bad character immortal hulk completely ruined a classic hero making a big pointless monster that can never be redeemed. By Bruce you were so cool now you're just a jerk😭
