The Redrum Drum Computer has been a staple of a beatmaker's toolkit since its inception in the year 2000. Watch as ‪@365OTG‬ walks you through the Redrum in detail. Even if you've been using Redrum for years, there could be a few handy features you've missed along the way. Let us know what you think in the comments! #reasongang
The Redrum is built into Reason 12 and can used in the standalone Reason DAW or in any other DAW via the Reason Rack Plugin (VST3/AU/AAX). The best way to get Reason is to subscribe to Reason+. Sign up at www.reasonstud...

same here! although I do now link the Redrum to a Kong for more layers, and also now fiddling with Mimic-linked Redrum. I often do 64 steps, even done some with 24 and 48 steps on some 3/4 or 6/8 timing songs. I wouldn't mind having all the rows visible at once though, flipping through them does take extra time and the amplitudes are limited to the 3 variations without automation tweaking, but it's still great at quickly putting a set of drumlines together.

Another great and probably overlooked feature of Redrum is the ability to create random patterns or individual drum parts. I hear features like this requested in hardware forums all the time, yet Redrum's had it for decades. Randomized patterns or parts can give you a good starting point to craft beats around when you're in a creative dry spell! Great video!

Pretty good Job on the tutorial man - One feature of the REDRUM that I personally like is the ability to wire it up to other devices and create custom drum kits that use "ANALOG" synths as sound sources and then make a combinator, or it is also pretty fun to wire up to hardware and use it just as a "little beat sequencer".

I've started using Reason around the time Reason 6 came out and even then I'm still using Redrum despite fancier stuff like Kong being available ever since I started. Windows 10 has a screan capture that captures video and audio. To use it search for screan capture or find it in the start menu. When opened for the first time its does a set up then an icon will be added to your task bar. Click on the icon then click the camera icon, then move the window to the preferred position then hit the pin icon, which is necessary or it wont work correctly. Make sure Reasons windows are all together you cant have the mixer or rack in separate windows while recording, click on something in Reason then hit the record button. Note plugins will not be visible in the rendered video. Videos are saved in windows default video folder.

I made a combinator with a 14:2 mixer and individual outs on each channel to be able to process drums independently. You have to pan each pad on Kong either hard right/hard left for mono outputs(ex: pad 1 hard left for channel 2 and pad 2 hard right for channel 3 and so on) you have to send each pad to the individual outs on Kong instead of the main out put with the exception of pad 1&2. The main output doubles and individual out 1&2) This way you’ll have control of processing each pad with access to 4 sends on the 14:2 mixer@@Digital_Mozart

I used to be a Reason user. What your doing, I was doing that same method 12 years ago. This is why I dropper reason. Badly needs a update on these classic vsts. Malstrom was the best thing about it for me. I would by just the Malstrom on its own as a vst. And before you say it, I've got reason 12 as a vst and its not how I want to work with it. Sorry man.

How to pronounce it at the top of the video. I think it's Red Rum like from the Shining. Check out Redrum backwards. Hehe.

I prefer Battery. I also prefer actually using my midi keyboard to play my beats as opposed to clicking them in...

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pqmldJmazazYc5s.html Changing the resolution does not change the tempo. it's still a beat at the original tempo, but the grid is now set to a faster subdivision (32nd notes instead of 16ths).
