'98 is one of the best games ever made, in any genre. This for me was the moment when SNK finally passed Capcom, there was just so much happening in this game compared to Alpha 2.

Nothing is more fun than playing games of the King Of Fighters '98 the Slugfest, especially when you are playing in roulette mode-whether you're playing in a single playthrough, or if you're playing against friends in versus mode in casuals. I love it when the faces changes for every character in every game each day. It's like regular human beings when moods tend to vary every time in real life. What's more is the vast variety of characters and the limitless amount of team combinations that you can create in this game. I've been playing this masterpiece for years and years, and also owned it for the home consoles in two different times in my life. This game is sure to please any gaming crowd.😁

The smileys are actually based on how much they like each other in the story. You have to know the lore for the sake of team building. Just because they're on the same team doesn't mean they get along, either. The Fatal Fury Team all get along, but the '97 Special Team doesn't. Terry and Mary like each other a lot, so you've got nothing to worry about, there. Kyo and Iori? Not a CHANCE. Put one on point and one on anchor if you want to run them. The affinity system was removed entirely for the UM versions.

Kensou is a terrific character in KoF 96, 97 and 98, very useful. Nice to see Justin using him. Hope Justin do a future video about him in CEO (SF3 TS, CVS2) both finals was great. CVS was really sweaty, and SF3 last match...bro, that Justin's parry vs Hugo in Daigo mode was extreme! Also, hope he react to Goenitz new boss challenge in KoF VX.

This game is the reason I bought a NEO GEO and a NEO GEO CD. Love it to death. Never got that good with it, it's not like KOF had any sorts of an active fighting scene here to actually traing against human opponents, but still just playing the arcade mode and trying the different characters was so much fun.

My childhood game 💘❤ one of my fav fighing games ever.. i love everything about it.. the stages, to the little details is just brilliant even after all these years! Also i agree kotobukiya are one of the best figure companies there is! Their figures are sooo good! I was so happy to do more stuff for SNK! They do for Tales of franchise and they always killed it! My favorite KoF of all time. I used to play it in the arcades as a teenager, after school.

Fun fact: those happy/mad faces are determined by how well they get a long with each other. For example Iori almost all of the time have a mad face because it's Iori and hates many of the other characters.

Best fighting games ever, huge roster, huge combos, everything was great about this game.

Honestly I like 98FE more than vanilla because of balance, but way more people play fightcade vanilla 98 Edit: also imo KoF 2002UM is probably the hardest KoF, normals have way less hitstun and its an overall way more fast paced game than 98, plus BNBs are way more difficult and complex than 98's.

I got the KOF Orochi Saga Series ('94-'98) on the Nintendo Wii... Do yall know how hard it is to play a fighting game not named Smash Bros on a Nintendo Wii with the Wii Sticks? With that being said, shout out to all the KOF players worldwide because the obscurity was real. Bring up KOF and people be like WTF is that or refuse to play it. That's why you see the die hard and loyal fans repping hard for the franchise during the tournaments. KOF '96 is my favorite one. KOF '98 The Slugfest... Very fun and yes Omega Rugal '98 would destroy Soft Batch KOF XV Omega Rugal.

Is this the hardest King of Fighters? Oh gosh, not even. I say it's one of the easier ones to get into. Yeah, when you play against people KoF online, you're gonna be playing against some sweaty vets. KOF 98 was my very first one. I played the Dreamcast port and fell ln love immediately. The CD Quality music, the roster, everything. I have 98 UM on PS2, Dreamcast, Xbox and PS4. I also have the Orochi Collection, which also has 98. I think that amounts to 6 different ports.

08:14 this cmd normal from goro SQUASHES FIREBALLS. & supers that are fireballs. it's why i couldnt play him or most of the other old classic characters in kof14: their cmd normals i liked so much were there, but stuck within the autocombos. on 3rd hit. got me so mad to this day.

I think it's not really the hardest kof game learning curve-wise but it's competitive. Sure every fighting game out there has a very op character but this game has interesting balance. Look at Shermie as being one of the poorly rated character in the tier list but she has infinite crouching lp in the corner because there's no push back or knock back. Any player can win with a mid-tier or low-tier character because it's the way the game was designed. Some low tier does super well against the top-tiers like Chang can whiff punish with low kick to special command grab or iron ball mash cancel. Kof 98 is a masterpiece and even if we ask the top players from China, Taiwan, and South Korea, it always on their list of preferred Kof iteration. How popular was this game? Ask the locals from Taiwan and South Korea, drivers and market merchants do love playing this game during their downtime or lunch break. Almost forgot to mention, Orochi Chris is like the only borderline illegal character in the game and the rest are fine even if they are highly damaging. 😁

KOF 98 and KOF 99 Dream match. I swear Evil Rugal on Hardest difficulty was the reason I had to buy two new controllers. Took me a month to figure out I sucked at the game as a high schooler, then another week to unlock all the difficult rewards in the game

Seeing the rigidity of both MK11 and the new MK1. It always baffles me the fluidity of movement in an old 90s like kof. Kof made street fighter feel stiff in comparison.

If I choose between the UM series of KOF'98 and KOF2002, I choose the former. Neverthless, the original KOF'98 is the most balanced not only from its roster alone but the gameplay as well. P.S. 2:25 - Dang Justin! You even show Mai's butt on that figurine!?
