Ummmmm Michael are you sure that’s a pixie? Because I’m pretty sure Jane thinks she’s a fairy. Okay Disney so which is it? Tinkerbell lives in pixie hollow, but is a part of the Disney Fairies franchise. She is given the title of tinker fairy but sprinkles pixie dust.

Wotso Videos No way that whole thing is just way too obvious. I'm almost positive that the truth has to be she is part of both after they decided to make peace with each other. Either that or the fairies must have just stolen or taken the pixie tree after destroying most if not all of the pixies. It's the only logical explanation!

Sorry, but I have to politely disagree with your theory. The idea of fairies of just being humans with wings only started in the Victorian era, but that isn't true throughout history. (To be fair, I think JM Barrie would've been alive around that time and that influenced him a lot). Faerie/fae is just an umbrella term used to describe all sorts of mythical creatures from around the world. Goblins, gnomes, kelpies, gancanagh, imps, encantado, the yokai of Japan and more are all classified and considered fae. Yes, this can include more human like creatures, but not always. Pixies are a type of fae that are super small creature with a human like appearance, being impish and childlike, which describes Tinkerbelle as well. Tinkerbelle is both, because pixie is just a classification of fae. Kinda how all pitbulls are dogs, but not all dogs are pitbulls, because pitbulls are just a type of dog.

Maleficent is just as much of a faerie as Tinkerbell is, perhaps moreso, since she is the Dark Queen of the Unseelie court.

Fairies with a Pixie Dust Tree. Was it a gift? Did it get taken during one of the pixie v fairy wars? Or is it just a rare magical tree that grows in the region? After all in the Pirate Fairy movie the enemy did sort of create a pixie dust tree of their own. So can it just be made whenever? Anyway very interesting discussion Issac. Of course Tinkerbell is a fairy. Because...fairies.

Tinkerbell in original text is simply a fairy. It was Disney who combined to two creature and made them the same,so in Disney Canon the names are interchangeable. I can remember why but I believe it was Walt who had the name of the dust changed to Pixie dust, and so the movie uses both names to describe her.

Pixies: No fun, boring, business work, and exactly the same. Fairies: Fun, exciting, spontaneous, can be in any shape, size, and color. This is so much easier to identify the distinguish characteristics of them.

Perhaps I ought to remind you to read JM Barrie when you do your research: the reason Tinker Bell has such disregard for Wendy is because she was jealous. Barrie even explains that faeries are too small to feel more than one emotion at a time. And the so-called "pixie dust" was actually called "fairy dust" in the book.

They are commonly mistaken. Mermaids are the ones that are half fish, while Sirens are actually half bird! Very different, but curious as to how it has become so muddled up now... :/

Ah yes, long ago they were confused with Harpies, kind of like different bird types in Greek mythology. Sirens are found perched on the dangerous rocky cliffs and their melodious voices lured sailors to crash to their deaths, while Harpies stayed on land and their voices are terrible. Actually in old scriptures of Greek stories Sirens are said to look like Harpies but some how in recent adaptations they were given a more predator sea serpent like appearance which doesn't make sense because I honestly don't get how they compare a fish to a bird...

there is a third class of mythical beings that Tinkerbell could potentially fit into and that is Sprites. Sprites, fairies, and pixies are often depicted much the same way but with different attributes like how they get their magic, their types of magic and how they use it. Woodland sprites would rule over nature whereas fairies ruled the seasons and sprites ruled over the temperaments of those around them. I think it is easy to see tink as a being that in ancient times were simply called the fey because they had attributes of all 3 of these creatures/beings while being beings of their own that often gifted young children and/or infants with the gifts of the fey. these children would then grow into wise rulers or disappear into the land of the fey whereupon feasting with the various creatures became a true fey themselves only leaving the realm of the fey to pass on their gift to another before dying so that they could be reborn and hope to be gifted or born again into the land of the fey. the fey were interestingly enough one of the only creatures to get along with all the other sprites, spirits, fairies and other mythical woodland creatures with no definite distinction and being able to easily blend in with the others upon their choosing.

Ok but can we talk about why Lady Tremaine looks so similar to the aristocats' owner, Madame Bonfamille , and why Lady Tremaine's Lucifer looks like Berlioz the kitten? The stepsisters and her were banished from the kingdom, maybe they turned their lives around somewhere else??

If you look at it there is a huge time difference between Cinderella and the Aristocats. Cinderella take place in around the 16 or 17 hundreds well the Aristocats looks like it takes place around the 1800s. Maybe the reason they look so similar is the lady from Aristocats is Lady tremaine's descendant from one of her daughters.

Alternative explanation: All pixies are fairies but not all fairies are pixies. Pixie could refer to an immature state of their development. Some grow old and become as powerful as entities like the Fairy Godmothers, Maleficent, or even Blue Fairy (note the relationship between stature and power) but all begin as absolutely diminutive pixies. This addresses the seeming conflict with pixie hollow, by making it a safe refuge for young and vulnerable fairies. In this case, the differentiation between pixie and fairy dust may simply be indicative of the relative potency of the magic innate to the physiology of an individual fairy.

Can you do a video about Triton's trident? Is is actually Poseidon's trident? If so, why doesn't Poseidon have it during the little mermaid movies?

박지호 In greek Mythology, Triton is Poseidons son, the Trident is made by the Cyclops and is a power symbol for Poseidon. It is likely that king Triton us a decendent of the first Triton, and the Trident was passed on from father to son. Whethet the trident is Poseidons is not tracable, but it most likely is a less powerful staff with similar powers, as a god would never give up it's powersymbol for as long as it's alive. And considering that gods are immortal that would be a long time

Actually, king Triton is the son of Poseidon. I read somewhere they were actually intended to be the same person. Don't know if it's actually true, but it would definitely explain why he has the trident. Though they made him too much of a merman then a minor God, as Triton in mythology is considered as a minor God.

By that definition then, Tinker Bell would have to be a fairy. From the very first origins of the Peter Pan story it says that a fairy is born from a baby's first laugh....and in the first Tinker Bell movie, that's exactly how Tink was born. and minus her wings, she possesses a human-like appearance. She also possesses magic. Also throughout the stories we see her display a variety of emotions such as jealousy, pain, sadness, joy etc. And she lives in a world of her own in Neverland and has the ability to fly using magic....it IS established in the Tinker Bell movies that the fairies do need the Pixie Dust to make them fly..

Pixies are a subtype of fairy, along with things like: Leprechauns, Banshees, Elves, and Dryads. This was actually shown pretty well in Disney's Gargoyles.

Fairy folklore varies wildly depending on the source. But most sources agree that a fairy or fae was not a singular species, but rather a category of magical beings that may include everything from ogres, to elfs, to trow, to brownies, to goblins. When you get down to it, Maleficent is a faerie just as much as Tinkerbell is a fairy, probably moreso.

I agree with your conclusion, even in the Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual, Pixies are described with the same childish, mischievous and curious behaviour you mentioned, but it also said about the reproduction part. But in D&D, pixies can also use magic, mostly to play pranks and defend themselves. And they are also winged, but then again, maybe the creator didn't know the difference between Pixies and Faries, because there is no mention of Faries anywhere in the Monster Manual.

Alright so I got a question, do wings matter ? Because the only reason fairy’s can fly is because of pixie dust. If you notice when they run out of pixie dust they can’t fly any more, and its weird how they have wings but it doesn’t help, and idk if you guys remember but wings are just so important to them, because if they tear apart or rip they can’t fly any more just like lord milori, but can’t you just sprinkle some pixie dust on him so he can fly, I mean Peter Pan doesn’t have wings, but he can fly without them perfectly.

Although you put up great evidence, my stubborn mind refuses to accept Tinkerbell as a fairy. I've always believed that Pixies, Fairies, and even Sprites were of the same stock and had minor differences. One of them being size. Pixies to me were always tiny and small, Sprites were the size of babies and small children, and fairies I always pictured as teenage to adult size. But they, along with elves, dryads and naiads (tree and water nymphs respectively), and even dwarves and such, are all considered Fae.

Unfortunately not. Jane's clothes and the age of the items around her in Tarzan's time period puts her in the Victorian era, or there about. I'm not a historian so I may be out by a bit, but it was the 1800's to early 1900's. I'm talking the start of WW1 at the absolute latest as she and her father could have traveled there before the war broke out. But she's definitely before Jane from Peter in Never Land as she's a young girl experiencing WW2 and bombing, which puts her at around 1930's to 1940's. So she could be a descendant of Jane from Tarzan, but not the same person. Sorry.

She's been wondering for the past few years why they call her a fairy, when she grew up knowing Tinker Bell as a pixie. I'll show her this video, so she can finally understand why they changed it :)

Fairy, sprite and pixie are the same mythological being from British Isles in western European mythology. These three can be traced back to the Celtic creature Sìth.

Faerie is an umbrella term that includes pretty much any magical creature, like gnomes, unicorns, etc. just like dragons. All pixies are faeries, but not all faeries are pixies.

I thought the two names meant the same thing, too. Interesting to see that's not the case. And interesting to see that the fairy dust and pixie dust are both correct. I got the book "Fairy Dust And The Quest For The Egg" -- and that came out long before the movies, which I haven't got to see yet. I honestly thought that the people making the movies were getting the lore all wrong ... So, the truth is that the Fairies actually have access to two different kinds of dust ...

The Fae (or "Faeries") is a general catagory that includes sprites, Leprechauns, Pixies, nixies, basically any magical being. There are two basic factions, the Seelie Court ("Good" Faeries like Brownies and so on) and the Unseelie court ("Evil" fae like Redcaps, Banshees, etc.) Also, there are HUGE Fae, like Ogres.

I also find it strange that there are no fairy babies or children in pixie hollow(that I remember). I guess it's because they don't reproduce like humans, but are born from a laugh...

According to the D&D game, pixies are themselves a type of Fey, or fairy. So are grigs, brownies, sprites, nixies, satyrs, nymphs, and many other creatures.

In Irish folk tales fairies or the Faye are a race of people with magical powers and connections to nature and they aren't to be trifled with. Building over their land or mocking them can bring misfortune. They also steal babies and replace them with their own children for humans to raise, similarly to a cuckoo. (those children are called changelings) Depending on the stories the Faire are either totally humanoid or like a miniature person. They never had wings in any story I've heard. (Ireland never used the term leprechaun that's a purely American creation to separate them from the winged fairies of British and American folklore.)

I always got confused with fairies and pixies because of my childhood watching Winx Club. In Winx Club, it is continuous portrayed that fairies are of human sized, just with magical powers and wings. When encountering Tinker Bell, I knew Disney always referred to her as "Disney fairies" but after that I was, and still am convinced that Tink was actually a pixie.

Yes!! Since the last video about tinkle bell I said that tinkle bell and the blue fairy from Pinocchio are the same person or in this case the same fairy Tinkle bell have the same wand (from the opening Disney) blond hair And she can grow big size as the film hook... Tell me if I am wrong... Again?

Pixies and Fairies are both of the "Fae" for oversimplification purposes... Pixies and Fairies in the Philippines resembled Elves having pointed ears for the Dwarven Pixies. Meanwhile Fairies are more Ethereal Spirits of Nature and Magic that can change their appearances being the size of Humans or even larger the size of Elves which can be twice the height of Humans. Dwarves and Elves were two species one of the Earth the Dwarves and Nunos as seen on Trese. Duwende meanwhile are Gnome sized Dwarves or Earth Spirits. (See in various folklore around the world these distinctions and overlaps exist...) Take a look at the Philippines and European versions of the beings, (We've had stories of the Fae pre-colonial period as Ancestral Tribes often paid tribute, heed and worshipped the Diwata or Fairy Spirits of Nature.) While in Europe the Fae are more widely associated with magic in general, so Fairies, Pixies, Brownies, Leprechaun, etc. were all considered types of Fae. In the Philippines, they are all magical but the Fae are distinctly just Fairies while the rest are their own separate species such as Elves, Dwarves, Duwende, included. Sometimes they're just what they are and sometimes they are more than their species being Spiritual beings as well. Hence their descriptions always being synonymous with magic, Fae and Spirit in the Philippines. Whereas, in Europe they are of various origins with varying descriptions. Fascinatingly, despite not having contact with Europe the Pre-Colonial Philippine Tribes all shared the same concept that the magical beings are part of one group which are the Fae and/or Spirits. With European origins being more magical in root than Spiritual (exception being the Nymphs of Greek/Roman Myths etc.)

I wondered if Tinkerbell could be both pixie and a fairy but perhaps the only one of her kind which would make her a rare race. Which may explain why she becomes Peter Pans guardian after his mother abandons Peter as an infant.

Fun fact, the proper term for fairies are fair folk, the Fey, the huddluc folk, the good neighbors, the other crowd, or Deanna sihde, Nd they don't like being called "fairy".

I’ve been researching the difference because I play a fae character and trying to decide if she should be a fairy or pixie. Anyway tink definitely seems to be more pixie like. Pixies have nature powers and wear plant clothing. Pixies are unseelie which can simply mean “doesnt interact with humans”. Either way, I tho m Disney just doesn’t know the difference. I think they think they are the same thing.

Here’s a question: How did Tinkerbell come to produce Pixie Dust herself and no longer uses her Tinker Talent? (Basically the transition from Tinkerbell series into Peter Pan)

Honestly I think she goes back to Pixie Hollow from time to time to stock up on dust and do whatever she needs to do before going back to hang out with Peter and the lost boys.
