I’ve never been much of an outdoorsman. Don’t get me wrong, I see and respect the beauty of nature, but I was just brought up a city boy and camping was one of those things I rarely got the chance to enjoy. Things are about to change, of course. I hit the road on Monday, living out of my 93 Ford Aerostar. It’s not a thing of beauty, and it certainly isn’t roomy, so there’s no way I’m living IN it. I definitely see myself living OUT of it. Weirdness will ensue!

As I am someone who grew up camping I can say I think you will love it. Just figure out if you will be following the best weather you are comfortable with. If it is warmer weather then decide how you will battle the mosquitos ahead of time then you will be ready for the world!

I have to watch this again. I had myself convinced that I knew what I would be interested in. Not that I could afford some of the things that I liked but a girl can dream and keep a wish list!! This is probably one of my favorite videos...its cool how they teach a person to drive off road and not screw up their ride .. and the dogs are cute...and that patio .... and I want to see in all of those vans ...and the tent on the truck ....damn

Chrome you made an excellent point. So many vanlifers build for spending their time living inside in the van. That's needed when there is nasty weather but living outside the van is where it's at.

I got the opportunity to ride along for extreme mudding and it was a blast. Over boulders and places you never thot a vehicle could go. This event looks like so much fun!!!

watching this makes me realise just how good the guys here in South Africa can drive their vehicles through our bushveld (or as you call it back country) what makes South African bushveld riding even more of a challenge are the thorns, snakes and wild animals mostly all out to do as much damage to your vehicle as possible. I enjoyed this video.

I must admit I did have a laugh at the 'overland trail' after just watching an Australian channel 'fire to fork' take a Mitsubishi Delica to the northern tip of Cape York. Wanna see some really crazy overlanding ? 😆 Its amazing what these vehicles are able to do , mind you they did use their winches to pull them selves out of quite a few spots. I moved into an AWD to deal with off road and rough terrain but I dont have the budget to risk going through the real rough stuff. Maybe one day I'll afford a proper 4x4 rig. What a lovely community of people brought together there ❤️

That's my back yard...love it...glad itnwas a little swampy for ya the creek can get deep we've lost the bed of a truck going through it...water spilling into the cab...glad you had some fun back there...its a snowmobile trail in the winter.

That's something I'm surprised not to see more of with the van crowd: Outdoor space expansion. Meaning utilizing an enclosed tent structure off the side door or back doors. Just for a living room/cooking space. Maybe something that could cross over from the overland scene. :)

Thing with these rout adventures or courses is I wish they would show one how to use your equipment on rout also. . . .I dont mind hozing everything down afterwards especially if I get to use some equipment. . . . Imagine someone showed you how to put on your snow chains 4 years ago while doing something like this. . . That's golden. . .

Yeah buddy Chrome, nice Little obstacle. I love this stuff, this is sort of how it is with our remote control RC trucks 1/10 scale we’re standing outside Driving them And we use the term driver or passenger for turning left or right. Sure appreciate you sharing love it

Yeah, after finding myself on the edge of a scary, snowed covered cliffs in some CO mtns in my old Jeep one time and having to back down the trail, I now pretty much stay to more traveled roads. Plenty tp see and do without getting into a pile of hurt and expensive repairs.

Looks fun and I personally love those vanlifers meetings. Making an experience with a off-road trip is for sure helpful and exiting, cause would not do this alone, too risky to remain stuck in the middle of nowhere 😅.
