other than the top 3 (MTG, PKM & YGO), Cardfight Vanguard is the "ONLY" game that withstood the test of time, heck it's gotten to the point where I get the same level of nostalgic feelings for CFVG that I get with Yugioh (my first trading card game). The scene when Kai rides Alfred Early and then the "Believe in my Existence by JAM Project" starts playing is so NOSTALGIC for me.

i agree wholeheartedly that they should focus on long term, and they should of made it clear on their plans like you explained, I’m looking forward to overdress and whatever it turns out to be if i have premium and my area does not just jump to another game ill be fine but i wouldn’t be happy knowing that the fear of every 3 years could be another rotation still looming

I just didnt have the time back then cuz financially it's rough, I waited till I graduated high school, now i got to work and buy my first deck ever and bought one for my little brother too. We love this game. And nothing will compare to my nostalgic dream of having my own deck

I dont get why people think overdress is gonna be rotation or another reboot. The last reboot was accompanied with the anime, that was a reboot of the old anime, this seems more like the transition into g format with the g anime, so whatever overdress is, its likely to simply be the new version of stride and a continuation of standard

Honestly I'm scared of them just dropping Premium and just sticking with standard. I think standard has it's place, it defintely helps people get into the game, but Premium is just so much more fun. I want them to keep giving us Premium Collections and expand upon that format with G Guards and other stuff too. Even if we rotate, if they still support Premium I'll be happy with it. I can't lie I am nervous for Vanguard's future but I definitely hope the Overdress era is great because V was such a mixed bag.

This dude here help me to get into vangard I was with yugioh for about 3 years because for me it was easier to play than vangard but as well the information that goes around currently I am playing standard because I want to understand the game first but I am planing to go into premium but even with all of this said I agree with his points having the ability to use card from the very first set is powerful because maybe a really bad deck has the ability to exploit a really old card as well for simplistic sake And dude keep up the good work

I really think that a rotation during covid will kill the game. I wouldn't say vanguard is dying but it's very near the edge and 1 really bad decision from Bushiroad will be the deciding factor.

To be honest, I did quit after VBT04 because I already anticipated a reoot. Things were just so unclear and I was afraid my deck would be trashed by the new cards again, so I though I would quit while I was ahead

The difference in cost between a meta deck vs. a rogue or even tier 3 deck is surprisingly big and honestly one of the biggest problems with standard is the cost. As well as barely any new mechanics. Things like limit break and break rides are what kept the game fresh. Standard just relies on power creep. "Hey here's a fresh new deck that completely wipes the old format." and will cost u a arm and a leg. This is why I just play budget decks like Blademaster "Souen" and Seven Seas and a bunch of others.

I agree with your opinion that standard format should’ve a separate beginner format like speed duel, rather than be a second main format. One thing I’d like to add is that I wish bushi gave more support to old mechanics during the g era. When looking at ygo, all the mechanics (fusion, synchro, etc) are still used. Imagine if bushi made limit break and legion cards that could compete with strides, and make some decks not even need strides

I would say yes vanguard is in a rough patch, but I think I remember them saying that they’re working on a new series with new characters and story? I could be wrong. Anyway with everything going on in the world you can’t really say that it’s dying. If anything they’re taking this time period to see where things will go. Again I don’t know, I would like to see more premium support and the way they could do that is revival collections in booster box style. Like normal booster boxers but for revival collections. Anyway that’s my thoughts.

The Vanguard community where I live is doing what it can to get more members, though the virus really put a spanner in the works for us. Hopefully we can get more members once spring rolls around

If they do want to do rotation, they could try and make it more like other games, where certain cards are reprinted and you can use the previous prints of them. PGs and triggers would be good ones to reprint. Might be tricky to do now though, as we have multiple versions of cards with the same name.

I think they should do more reprints of older stuff. One of the things that always daunt me when thinking about Premium is the hassle, the price and tracking down old cards to make Premium decks. I stopped playing Vanguard before Legion began and only returned to it when the V-Altimile Trial Decks were made and now i'm faced with this uncertainty that I just returned to the game and having all the cards that I recently bought to be moot.

I actually 100% agree. As a player, I always want to have a deck that I can keep improving upon as time passes (Gear Chronicle). If the format rotates, I will not be getting anything for the format because I really don’t want to spend hundreds on something that I would need to toss out later. A friend of mine prefers standard and while I don’t enjoy it, I can still play with it and have some fun. However, if the format rotates, it falls to me to try to convince him to just play premium so that everything he got for his favorite deck (Granblue) wouldn’t go to waste along with the money he put into it.

That Bushi is keeping silent between Eras is nothing new. They did the same between OG and G-Era and also between G-Era and V. Back in 2014 it was even worse when the Movie Booster spoiler was finished and we had no idea what's going on afterwards. Well, this doesn't change the fact that this sucks. Concerning an assumed second reboot, I don't think this is going to happen at least not in the same fashion as back in 2018. Reprinting stuff in Clan Selection and rotating them out the month after would a be dick move. That's obvious. Even G-Eras final set Divas Festa contained cards which were clearly futureproofed for Premium. In my opinion, instead of a new rotation/reboot, Bushi will come up with some novel way to "fix" standard which no one of us could possibly predict.

Honestly, I don't like the complexity of eternal formats, but I do enjoy simpler versions of a game typically. Sometimes it's not about "oh look, new cards!" but rather comfort with the speed of the game. One of the big things I've hatred about the last year minimum in standard has been how much they've created effects to imitate premium and G, and in many cases as you point out, those effects are even better than what we had pre-rotation. I just wanted a simplified version of the game that played more like what I started with in the break ride era and less like four dimensional chess like G ended up becoming.

the day I realized that my vanguard deck never received ¨support¨ but it was always a new deck and my old cards were useless .... My honest opinion is that vanguard is a unique game but bushiroad and its system of Distribution of ¨support¨ in the boxes damages the experience and it is like really a single box brings a single VR card ... meh you or you ask for a clan set or you end up spending the same as in a competitive deck of the big 3 games .... Whoever tells me that the word "support" is correct because of a ridiculousness that Aermo is still being used is just as guilty that the game is dying.

The last time I played vanguard was the short lived legion era. After that I’ve pretty much just done check ins, and depending on how this reboot(again) goes. I might just keep doing check ins.

I’m just waiting for overdress and hoping it interests me. Love Vanguard and am having a blast with VG Zero, but I think the latest stuff in standard is so good and does so much that it isn’t fun. Spectral Duke was looking really interesting to me until I saw it gets a Crit pretty much for free. Anyone else feeling the same way?

Not sure if it’s dying, but I live in Los Angeles, and this game has died out in a few stores already. Some just cutting the new support out, the only places I know that carry it well (as far as I know) are places like Anime Jungle and stores like Hobby Shop Ichiban. I think bushi needs to fix a few things to bring it back to be a widely played game here, like extend demo plays in new stores and chill out with a new rarity every other set.

I would be okay with rotation, but I feel it'd be better if they implement a sort of scaling rotation. As in, Premium will remain the eternal format, Standard is still Standard starting from V-BT01 (whether or not it would still be actually called Standard is neither here nor there) but includes OverDress as well, and then OverDress is also its own, new format. So, instead of outright saying you can't use your cards anymore, they'd be added on to the previous format. I feel like that's maybe the best way to not piss so many people off, whilst also having OverDress be the shiny new thing they want it to be.

[me, seeing the Title of this video and looking at the two trial decks I just got to learn the game] "oh no" I'm very thankful for this channel though, helped me choose a clan and now I'm excited to start playing. It's a lot more complicated than Pokemon, but I'm excited to play when things get better outside. Great Nature before G era : We are crap. Great Nature G era : after box 2, we got shitted on. Great Nature V : We are now RNG based, and we are still crap. I’m disappointed in Bushiroad so much that I didn’t play Vanguard anymore after G Era. I want to have Great Nature V set but yet, Great Nature never get the actual support against the more “beloved” clans for Bushiroad to milk the game out and I always get crapped on by friends, regardless of any clans.

I feel this im also jumping to digimon I've played vanguard since set 05. I can't stand the current power creep/meta right now it been going down hill since the 2nd Bermuda set and dragon vanity and it getting worse every set

My first card game was Yugioh because sure. At that time, I was only into collecting the stuff and maybe table top games on break at school. The idea of a tournament didn't exist in my head yet. Ended up dropping that for Pokemon a little later and I pursued pokemon TCG on the competitive scene. I never did THAT great, but that isn't the point. After a couple years of that, I switched back to Yugioh and also picked up the competitive scene for it this time around. I played Yugioh for several years until our local community had a falling out. Kind of on the side I started playing Vanguard. I was never good at this game because it always felt like I needed to be a card shark to deal with trigger predictions. Soon after was about the time Force of Will rose to the scene. We all jumped ship for that game. We played FoW for about a year and then it died. It died for social drama reasons though. I ended up returning to Vanguard for a while- finally had a local group that was fun and pleasant to be around. The reason I ended up quitting Vanguard now was because I got tired of the hour long drive to locals. Fast forward to present day and I'm a MTG player. This game has stood the test of time, and I feel safe investing into it. I haven't played MTG now since the pandemic hit, so i'm very out of the game now and don't know if I care to return or not now, but we shall see. When I played pokemon, I had no complaints about it other than sometimes fussing over set rotation. There was an older deck that I just really liked and so I was disappointed I couldn't keep using it. With Yugioh, my only complaint was the player base. My local group was so hung up on how much profit they could make from weekly shop tournaments that they drove away the kids who ACTUALLY spent money on the game and supported the shop. Force of Will was actually really fun. In the first year and a half of the game, its issues were apparent though. The color pie it used was not as fleshed out as it is for MTG. But ultimately what happened was social drama. Go figure. Vanguard.... I want to love the game. Its super easy to rag on the game and just call it unskillful because of the trigger checks, and while I half still feel that way, I do recognize there is some skill to play its role. The problem I personally have with Vanguard is the clan support bias. Shadow/Royal/Gold Paladin always got so much support because the main characters used those clans. Kagero got so much support for the same reason. I myself am a loyal Tachikaze player and then Angel Feather player on the side. I understand that from a "meta" perspective, certain decks are always going to be better than others, but it slowly became more and more frustrating to see Shadow Paladins do almost the same things as Tachi do, but for cheaper costs and also better rewards. Tachikaze were always slow to get support, and by the time they got it, they fell from power level fast as other clans got 2 sets more support. I mean heck, that Gear Chronicle stride that can stand itself is just a better Dogma. Would it REALLY kill the game to let other clans be on par? Then in the reboot they got a new mechanic that is even more costly and inconsistent. Their second wave of V support was Angerblader. I had stopped playing by this point so I Never to try out that bad boy, but I guess it was TOO Strong to survive the ban list. So you give a starving clan something too good that it has to get banned, now that clan is back on the bottom again. Its like Bushi was using this clan to test the waters. I'm not asking for Tachikaze to be tier 1. I just want them to matter though. Also, its worth pointing out that I think the value for cards is kinda stupid. Yes yes, MTG has stupid expensive cards, but their value is from age at this point. Vanguard's values are from thirsty weebs. Looking at you SP Bermuda Triangle cards.

Digimon has a huge flaw in its mechanics and is very easy to ''break'' , and right now it's too simple.. Vanguard, that's a great game! and if Bushi would stop trying to give stronger and stronger stuff, and trying to creat new clans and decks that have new mechanics, that would be awesome and IMO it will join the top 3 popularity in a few years.

If i gotta be honest, the first reboot was the ONLY reason why i quit vanguard.. Because i thought it's Ridiculous!!! We're literally ROTATING(as he said). Well, although it's a common thing as said in the video that people say that determined IP is dying for Vanguard it seems quite interesting because it doesn't seems to be sales, doesn't seems to be competion, the threat to the game is it's own damn company, or at least it seems to be, could the question be "Can Vanguard survive Bushiroad's incompetence ?"

I was once a loyal fan of Vanguard to the point where I collect 4 copies of every card from Dimension Police and Link Joker, my favorite clans. (Just the normal version not including special ones) But that first Reboot made me quit. I always thought that Vanguard was going to follow yugioh footsteps but clearly I was wrong.

Totally agreed with you Solemn. It's really, really good video to watch/listen, and needed those whole 20 mins to understand everything. I absolutely agreed about the non-eternal formats. Heck, even the so-claimed Premium that can uses any cards, how many old cards in a deck that they wanna put in? You are right about how STD Luard blows everything out of the water. I used my friend's deck once in PRE tournament and completely blows heavily modified BMT, or anything not a Songster or Helhard Eight. Also frequent schedule reaps tons of money out of people. Personally, they released AF too close to BMT and my wallet got blasted like China got hit by COVID. Bushiroad games has become harder to build multiple decks/clans, not like MTG which you can mix however you want. Weiss is debatable in this matter, but some series (clans) that has frequent release schedule or abusable old tech cards can easily rekt the meta, especially with the mentioned no-communication issues.

The Digimon card game looks fun but only play it if more players play it. Not locally, but countrywide of them.

Time ago I used to play, MTG, YGO and Vanguard at the same time, but in my country the vanguard comunity was destroy by it's own community, and MTG I was just begining at that moment, I had only a Structure deck, so I keep on YGO until now then I needed to sell all my stuff because of the pandemic and I needed money, but actually im giving an oportunity to Digimon and it a very fun game, I think in a future, maybe with the cyber dragon Structure, I can play YGO again, MTG I dont think I can play it animore, and Vanguard, I used to like so much the game, even with the First reboot I did't have any problems with the game, but with an unexistence healthy comunity I can't say is possible at least for me to play it again, at least in my location

What turned me off from vanguard is the insane power creep of mechanics. We went from cross ride, to break ride, to legion, to stride, to LET'S JUST FUCKING GO INSANE WITH STRIDE. It made it suck because even before the rotation, the majority of your deck had to change to have a competitive deck.

Because of pandemic situations I have been playtesting my old G-Era Gallop deck after never touching it since V got announced and by god it is very fun

Personally I don't think the game is dying, but as a player that recently left the game I thought id leave my 2 cents. I left more because I didnt find the enjoyment in the game and I also didn't really enjoy being around a certain group of players at my locals either, on top of that I felt the power creep was really high. As said I don't think the game is dying but there may be a slight decline as some players may look to explore new options.

I completely agree that making a new format rotation out of no where while in the middle/ barely heading to the tail end of pandemic season would kill Vanguard and would be an insanely dumb move. V series should be a 1 and done deal in that its either the form the game takes till its death bed with additional mechanics every 1-3 years OR they reintroduce Premium format back into the main competitive format with OverDress to make VG a single format and retain value of V series cards. Since the objective of V series was to expand the install base of the card game or at least make the game easier to understand for new players, it would make sense to open Over Dress era with combining Standard and Premium as by the time both Clan Selection sets are out, all players that currently exist within just standard should have fully built decks of their favorite clan/archetype. In short; i dont think the dev team are that dumb to start a format rotation but this would be an opportune idea to combine the formats into a full format while maybe having a locals special format of OD only cards to help push product. Or just have OD be Standard-EXTEND... but never Standard2ElectricBoogaloo

Its slowly dying. Im sad tobsee it be like this. They need to think of a long story at least over 120+ episodes like yugioh to make it engaging and ppl invested in the game. And to not put in so much new sytems as so far theres already a lot of new META that makes older cards obsolete while yugioh makes a somewhat equal meta where even older cards can be used to this day. I made a comment on Vanguardians about the 10 year lifespan myself. Its really incredible how long this game has lasted when you know how often card games truly die.

To be honest, Digimon is capable of being 5th top Card Game, but it needs players to support it in the long run. Waifu Digimon will help the series so I am expecting Angewomon and Rosemon as well as Renamon to help the series at first but it will need more players and more interest reaching over from the Pokemon Card Game players to use Digimon as their second trading card game. Releasing a Trading Card Game during this time of Covid is going to be hard to survive in the short term.
