Perfect timing posting this today as they did a great new update to the game. It's also extra fortunate since I am starting a narrative with some friends tomorrow. Very much looking foward to new WC and KT batreps.

Speaking of kids: I have a 10 year old and a 17 year old and they both play Warcry with me and we have a ton of fun. I love Kill Team, but if I had to choose one I'd go with Warcry because it's just so much easier to play.

My daughter is about to be 7 and she absolutely loved Warcry and has been asking to play more. It is a great to have a game system that you can get pretty deep in, but also simple enough that virutally anyone can play. She always goes on about rolling all 6s on her first round of the game which scored the only kill of round 1 that basically won her the game in the end.

Huge, you guys are my fave Warcry channel, and frankly set the standard for Warcry videos imo. I would love to see you guys do like a 5 encounter narrative campaign at some point.

I played my first game today in 2 hours. The first half an hour was spent going over the rules, and the rest was playing. I had a blast and I played the store's Rotmire Creed vs. Untamed Beasts. The guy who I played against was really nice and knowledgable, and I won(though he probably let me.). I picked up a box of Gorgers right away.

And kitbashing your warband in WarCry i soooo fun. Especially with that open and friendly community. I can really go to official tournament with my own WarCraft-style orcs as proxy Ironjawz and if every model is transparent enough they would let me play that warband. That's true story.

All your points were great, but the best I think is the random victory condition point you made. On top of being anti-sweat, it really encourages you to play for the experience and the flavour, rather than boiling down every unit and game type to a numbers game. The rules are so intuitive and simple, the initiative rolls where more singles gives you initiative but then you have less doubles/triples/quads. Like you said, it's elegant.

I mean, I do agree that it has some very good options, specially for construction. On a competitive stand point, I would fight you any day, but other than that, I couldn’t agree more that it has some solid basis that just need refining.

Warcry is my favorite and most played GW game. I play with ny gf, and her only miniature game. It is also the game i spend the most money on between cool interestingly themed warbands and boxed sets

I am old: While Warcry did win the 2020 origin award for best minis game, GW did earn a similar accolade decades ago with another boardgame, which shouldnt shock anyone when they find out what it is: In 1989, they won the Origins award for best sci-fi/fantasy boardgame. And to really illustrate how good spacehulk was/is, the net year its expansion also won the same award. GW repeated this again in 2009, when they re-released space hulk. Though I find that s2009 award questionable since it is basically double dipping. But I love space hulk, so I wont complain too strongly about how dumb rewarding GW with such accolades twice for the same thing.

Where would you rank Warcry against other skirmish games you've played? Do you like it more than kill team?

Vic here! Hopefully this doesn't seem like a cop out...but I like them all for different reasons. I find it to be a more immersive and narratively satisfying experience than Kill Team, but Kill Team offers a more complex, tactical and competitive game. This is all just my opinion, and your mileage may vary with both!

As time goes on, I have only grown to love warcry more and more. Kill Team has begun to feel very bloated and powercrept with every release. Meanwhile Warcry remains just a great time every single time I play it regardless of teams. The compendium teams SLAP, the missions and twists are fun, and it’s so, so easy to get into.

warcrier has the rules pretty well explained ^^ the basics are pretty easy to learn and for the rest just look the rules up in warcrier they also have a list builder and a validation check for match play ^^ otherwise i think there are some yt vids out there but most seem to be warcry 1

I do agree that Warcry is still a good game, but it’s not competitive it’s a narrative game. Which is why what I would love for you guys to suppprt Warcry with more videos…it’s been months (more than a year)

Instead of buying a 13th Killteam, you could get a Warcry warband. You can always go and play another system.

I'm gonna be "that guy" and say that warcry got pretty stale for me rather early. Imo the game lacks ranged combat. Sure, there are ranged profiles in the game, but are they really accomplishing anyhing compared to other skirmish games? Also the team building is so vast, that factions start to lose identity. Wanna play slow tanky army? There's nurgle, dwarves, bonereapers, ardboyz. Want to play something fast? Elves, goblins, vampires, slaanesh. Everybody can do anything and i find it lame. Anyway, what i'm trying to say. You guys should get into Necromunda!

You can always take the game system and reskin it. You can use Leagues of Votan as proxies for Kharadron Overlords, Beast Snagga Boyz for Kruleboyz, Space Marines for Stormcast Eternals and so on.

@@geometry_quiz If you want to play in the Old world it's even more simple. Just take the rules and play them with the backgrounds and minis you love. Use the rules for Seraphon as Lizardmen, Soulblight Gravelords are Vampire Counts, Iron Jaws are Black Orcs, Gloomspite Gitz are Goblins, the old Cities of Sigmar rules can be played with Old World Imperium, dwarves and elven minis. Skaven are Skaven, demons are demons and mortal followers of Chaos come in all colors and flavours. If you already have minis for Warhammer Fantasy/the Old World you can download the rules for free, try them out and if you don't like them you lost a couple of hours. Which - at least for me - wouldn't even make it to the top 10 of hobby mistakes measured in spent time and money. 😉
