I think a good additional tip is to disable fast wireless charging especially here in the Philippines. I know it will even be slower but it generates less heat.

Here in the Philippines it does get hot, but humidity is a factor. A few years ago we reached 50°C and I did notice that my phone got a little warm. I placed it in front of a fan then. I live next to a boiler so that complicates things. I don't have A/C but I don't need it, since I sweat a lot. So my phone is OK.

Me who got a wireless charger when I got my wireless combo from factory direct: I use it in my home but I don’t use it outside of home but it can be a useful tool when I get a USB drive for iPhones so I may use it often and my iPhone is iphon XR also the wireless charger is slow but it doesn’t heat up and it’s convenient and easy to use and the wireless earbuds of mine can charge properly.

Very informative! Thank you :) At what percentage do you recommend to start charging your iPhone? I usually plug in my phone around 20-30% with a 30w PD charger and it seems to get really warm after a few minutes, probably because it is actually fast charging up to 50-60% but I’m kinda worried about it damaging battery. I guess a 30w charging brick is overkill? Lately I just use a Joyroom 15w magsafe charger which I think is pretty decent quality.
@MarionSerrano
@MarionSerrano 3 жыл бұрын
How is the temperature with the Joyroom charging it? I charge with a PD charger as well. It gets warm but not hot. No need to worry for that. :) To answer your first question, any percentage! But all throughout the day, i top it off with my wireless chargers. (While in AC)
@alaskanmalamute101
@alaskanmalamute101 2 жыл бұрын
30%, the lower percentage charges faster so causes more heat 30% is like the best compromise for battery longevity and offsetting heat ideally you take it off charge at 80% too depending how big your phone battery is makes this feasible or not if you struggle to get through the day without charging you might be better going to 100% as 0-15% is worse for your phone than what 85-100% is

well according to my education( not mutch) it suppose to be safer for your battery. in physical charging there is voltage and Amper. the amper shorting your battery life every single it touch your battery through the cable... but in wireless charging there is only WATTs and not Ampers...so wireless charging is better.
@sudokuboy400
@sudokuboy400 6 ай бұрын
That's not how it works. In order to have Watts, you need both a Voltage and a current (Amps). One Watt is the rate of electrical energy transfer when a current of one Amp flows across an electrical potential difference of one Volt.

I've been wireless charging my 8+ since 2019 with no issues, and I've never felt it heat up. I try to leave it on the charger (from Costco by someone called Ubiolabs) whenever I'm at home--which is most of the time since I'm retired.
@JoeTaco83
@JoeTaco83 Жыл бұрын
It’s not gonna be super hot but the temperature of 10 degrees difference it will decrease your battery health faster. I also had an 8+ a year ago and I only charged it with the original Apple charger it came with. If you go on the Settings and check “Battery Health” i bet your 8+ is about 85% Health or less. This doesn’t mean it won’t charge to 100%. This is different from “Battery Health “

I wonder if using a lower wattage for a wireless charger is better. I have an Anker Powerpad and an Aukey wall adapter that has QC 3.0 and 5V/2A ports. If higher wattage = more extra heat for wireless charging, does it not makes sense to just use 5V?

- If you charge just for a moment your phone (at a café for example) it won"t get hot enough to damage the battery - If you charge with 10 to 15 watts charging power it will provide less heat to the battery - Turning the AC to 18°C seems to be an irresponsible idea for the environment. Wireless charging is not bad for your phone. The small amount of "inefficient" heat generated won't shorten your battery life. Charging your phone to 100% or draining it to 0% either by wired or wireless charging is far worse. Also the great convenience of Qi charging has sold me on it for all my supported devices.
@MarionSerrano
@MarionSerrano 3 жыл бұрын
The thing is. Using your phone and charging your phone to 100% is inevitable. It’s part of using your phone. The heat generated from wireless charging, many people can do without. The inefficiency and heat generated is also not “small”. It may depend on the wireless charger you are using.
@super_hero2
@super_hero2 3 жыл бұрын
@@MarionSerrano I used to think that wireless charging is bad because of the extra heat just like you said but then, using wireless charging is so convenience, so that my phone battery never fall below 20%, which has significantly worse effect on the battery. You can also charge 20% each time (wireless) rather than 80% at once (wired). So in conclusion, yes using wireless charging is bad for your phone in theory but it is not necessary bad, if not better than wired charging in practice.

People. Please stay away from Wireless Charging. Pay attention to how hot the phone gets. This Kills your battery Health so fast. Go on your iPhone settings and check battery “Health”. It decreases significantly compared to charging with a Typical Wired Connection. I know because I just bought new wireless chargers and my iPhone Mini with a year old battery had still 100% health. People should keep a layer of foil between their phone and the case. Always keep the foil side against your skin while carrying. These things are causing significant cancers and that’s before 5G. The reason I bring this up is cordless chargers won’t work unless the phone is face down. Intelligent people will put up with a little loss of service and a cord in order to significantly reduce their exposure to cancer causing radiation. The same for Bluetooth earbuds/headphones. Fools are physically putting the radiation into their heads.. If the phone doesn’t have a phone jack, it’s only sold to fools. Which is unfortunate because the monopoly over the cellphone industry is heading the same direction. This also applies to the disappearing home button. How many idiots have willfully subjected themselves to China’s technocratic totalitarian facial recognition agenda? Voluntarily!
