Also, wonderful interview! I really appreciate the comment that people discount our experience because it doesn't look like what they expect. I think that is especially the case for girls and women with ADHD, and the masking/editing we've learned through the years makes it even harder for people to accept how much disability we've been managing. Thank you, again!

I want to pass on what I do about noise sensitivity. I use earmuff style ear protectors when washing dishes or vacuuming, when I need to concentrate, any time I feel sensory overload. I don't like how earplugs feel, and the earmuff style feel very comforting. Also, they reduce noise without completely cutting off all sound, so I can still hear people talking if I need to. They have different styles at any hardware store or hardware sections at big box stores. (I was trying to include a picture but couldn't figure out how!)

That was helpful reframing. ~'If a kid struggles with flavors in food, imagine how you would react if someone dumped a box of salt on your plate and then told you to eat it.' Ohhhhh, yeah that would be awful.
