Your horse may develop girth aversion in response to an experience such as having the girth tightened too quickly, getting pinched by the girth, or feeling confined while being tacked up. Other causes include poor saddle fit, chiropractic issues, ulcers, nutritional deficiencies, painful withers, sores, and abnormal sensitivity of the chest behind the elbows.
Equi-Tape® can help!
Proprioception, this will help your horse get over a bad girthing experience, we would also suggest slowing down your girthing process.
Decompression will help with sore withers caused by saddle fit. We would also suggest getting a new saddle or having your current saddle fit for your horse.
Digestive support, once you have your horse evaluated by a vet for ulcers and are following veterinarian advice you can use Equi-Tape® to help ease the belly, increase circulation to the belly so it can heal faster, and help your horse feel much more comfortable.
Using Equi-Tape® can help desensitize the area taped, allowing abnormal sensitivity to reduce. This can help your horse get over his worry and embrace the fun rides ahead.
After a chiropractic adjustment, you can use Equi-Tape® to help the adjustment hold better and longer.
We recommend using these applications until your horse no longer shows signs of girthiness.
