The detents have a little play, and you need learn how work with that variation. I gently nudge to the left after selecting the detent, then gently synch it in place. It is what it is.

Hey there! THANK YOU for this video! In a world of DeWalts, & Makitas it's awesome to see someone post a video using a Ryobi. My saw was square coming out of the box Christmas 2021. But if I need to know how to tune it up I've got you to thank for it. Great info! Great content and not a bunch of unnecessary chatter. If you're ever in the St. Louis area, I'm buying you dinner and drinks. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. - Louis

Holy crap, thanks for making this! I have this same model and I didn't use it for quite a while and when I was last using it regularly, it was just to trim up some stock and nothing that needed to be terribly precise. I got it out about two weeks ago to start a project and was getting terrible cuts in both dimensions so each corner of the 2x4 was a different length. Hard to butt joint with that. Followed all the steps in your video thinking it was in need of a tune up but none of it solved it as it was only slightly off. It wasn't until you mentioned blade warping that I found my issue! Not sure how long I would have assumed it was the tool before thinking of checking that. Getting perfect cuts now, thank you so much!

Hi there! I was wondering if by any chance you would be able to help me with my situation. I’ve got this sliding mitre saw which is aligned in every possible way but one which I really can’t find a logic or a reason. Bevel, fence, blade and table are perfectly square, the blade is new… yet if I slide the saw to the far end while holding the speed square flush, the blade just goes slightly away from the speed square. At first I thought it is something to do with the fence adjustment but I kept fiddling with it with no success. Any idea? I’d really appreciate if you could help. Cheers!

I have a Ryobi 10 Inch Mitre Saw and the bevel cut will not go to 0⁰ i can try and force it from 2⁰-0⁰ but once i start cutting the lock cant hold it, and the pressure pulls it back to 2⁰. From what i can tell without taking it apart. Theirs nothing jammed in the mechanism.

My new dewalt miter saw has two bevel guides (left and right side) if one is zero, the other is 1. Is that to account for blade width?
@Caliber8Tools
@Caliber8Tools Жыл бұрын
It’s called a dual bevel saw. The blade angles can adjust to the left or the right as opposed to a single bevel saw which can only adjust to one side. As far as accounting for blade width, not sure that’s an issue with the bevel but good question. I’ll look it up.
@Caliber8Tools
@Caliber8Tools Жыл бұрын
If you mean blade thickness, yes because the starting point for the other side has to be 1 to account for the thickness which will throw off the degrees on that other side.

Don't forget to make sure your square is square. Cut larger wood for accurate test pieces. Make sure your blade is flat. Try different tests and be creative. there are many more tips I'm sure. When. You think it's all good, horizontal and vertical, build something like a picture frame or a box or a 4 piece square from straight 2x4' and see if it's up to your liking before you think you made the adjustments right. Also mark your test cuts. I like 4x4 posts for vertical blade calibration and large squares of plywood to use the 5 cut method (look up on ytube) for the fence. I've taken 2 days to get get a miter saw dead on. It's no fun. Sometimes your equipment simple cant get accurate because of design and critical part issues. Luke set screws that have a Ruger I. Them that wears down and makes everything all wonkeyjawed. Most squares suck.test them too!

I have a brand new Ryobi compound miter saw that has a problem not mentioned here at all. The slider arm appears not to be squared with the table. the fence is square to the table, but if you lower the blade at the rear, it is pretty well centered in the groove, but if you bring the blade forward on the slide rails it come close to one of the sides of the groove. Any pointers on getting this fixed? it's only about 1/2 a degree off, but if you need something really square it's horrible.

First, was it dropped or did it fall at some point in time?

@@Caliber8Tools not unless it happened during shipping to the store, but the box was in perfect condition. I guess taking the fence out of square may solve the issue, but the OCD in me HATES that solution. Also if I use a blade with a bigger kerf it may actually hit the wall of the groove, when fully extended :/ Unfortunately it's been just over a month since I purchased and only just started using for anything requiring much accuracy.

It’s a reach but, could be the groove itself is not square, but that’s definitively a manufacturing issue. If it’s not a blade issue and assuming it didn’t get banged up in transit then it’s probably the former. May have to replace it.
