Shannon Sharpe sits down with John Salley to reveal the reason two-time NBA Champion Isiah Thomas was left off the 1992 USA Basketball "Dream Team". Salley says: "All of it was a total misunderstanding, everyone loved Isiah Thomas’ game. Isiah was ahead of his time, he would’ve shined."

There are even videos online where Daly is at a podium saying if it was his decision Isiah would be there…not to mention Isiah is the main reason that Chuck Daly had the resume to be the head coach of the Dream Team. Yes but the decision wasn't finalized by them. Isiah even acknowledged it and stated that he knew it was from higher up. Jordan admitted to not liking Isiah but he loved his game. He even said that it wasn't up to him and unfortunately he took the brunt. That's the part of the "Last Dance" documentary people disgard. He would have still played and I bet he, and Pippin, would have liked Isiah afterwards.

@@sergeolouis9283 Well... Bro.... Isiah didn't win more than Stockton. Stockton's teams won 60 games three times. Isiah only had 1 60 win season. Isiah only played on five teams that won 50 games. Stockton's teams won 50 games eleven times. Isiah's teams had a great three year stretch where he wasn't even the best player in any of those years. Laimbeer lead the team two of those years in Win Shares and Dumars lead the team in 90-91. Stockton lead the Jazz 4 times. Not to mention Stockton went the playoffs 19 times. Isiah went 9 times. And as far as stats, Stockton had a higher peak (by a lot) and greater longevity (by a lot more). Isiah Thomas has the biggest cult I have ever seen.

Advanced stats, stats don’t matter when it matters the most and when the legends come and put the teams on their back and win games. I’d take Zeke Finals MVP over anything you said about Stockton. Avg 27 and 7 shooting almost 60% on the floor ring 2 of those games by himself. Stockton could never do things like that. If Stockton is on the Pistons and not Isiah we never win anything. First of Christian Laettner could have been left off the team. Second name on player on the 1992 Dream Team that said wait a minute Isiah Thomas should be on the team. Where was Chuck Daly fighting for his guy Isiah Thomas to be on his Olympic Team? In all the years I've never heard any guy on the Dream Team speak up for Isiah. Not a single man.

That's false on the Celtics snubbing the Pistons first by walking off. They were told by security to head towards the locker room with a few seconds on the clock because unruly fans were fixing to storm the court. The Pistons players even had to be escorted off the floor by police.

Absolutely not. Very few people on that team wanted Isiah on that team. So how are you going to build team chemistry?
@shannonsiscoe4275
@shannonsiscoe4275 Жыл бұрын
Just cause the celtics do an unsportsmanlike act doesn't mean it's ok to do the same thing to a completely different team. Shows less class to do the same thing to another team by the pistons and I was a huge fan of the pistons at that time. others have mentioned the chemistry would have been off and I would agree if multiple players already on the dream team had a dislike for IT at the time. That said his skill and accomplishments on the court definitely justified him having a spot on that team.

In no galaxy should Isiah have been on the dream team over Stockton. First of all Isiah would bring down the entire team with his attitude. Yes he did score a little more but he was nowhere near as efficient as Stockton. The dream team had enough elite scorers they needs a court general that’s going to put the guys in the right position to make those plays, and Stockton does that ALOT better than Thomas.

FACTS: 1. John Stockton IS the most fundamental point guard of the 20th century. 2. Isiah Thomas has more championships than JS. 3. Stockton was part of the most successful 1-2 punch in the NBA 4. Isiah could and DID take over games, necessary to win, whereas that was NOT Stockton’s strength. That said, I would’ve put Isiah on the team, BEFORE Stockton, given he had more accomplished stats when that team was created AND was a more complete player. Stockton has and should continue to get mad props. I would’ve left Laettner and Mullins off of the team and had Isiah and Shaq.
