Basics of Sikhi

11 жыл бұрын

Talk given at Bradford Gurdwara in May 2013. Followed by an amazing Hukamnama by Guru Granth Sahib ji that just says it all and more! What are the differences between Sikhi and Islam? Why did Guru Nanak not choose Islam? Why do Sikhs choose to follow Sikhi rather than Islam? Although Sikhs respect all people, there are still key differences between faiths and its important to understand and appreciate these.

Plus.. I am self baptised Christian (cuz they didn't have all the good stuff - fruits of the spirit... close but then the doctrine was wonky... never got 100% right.. so I gave up religion but Not Jehovah and Jesus our Lord. Puts you in fiery hell. Hmm. Not the GOD I Learned about and loved. All those biblical heroes... YEAH! Sikhi has them too! YEAH! And... when I "lit up" I got this: 2 Rules - Love God, Love Your Neighbor - Romans 10:11 Romans Chapter 10 and 11 as well. GOOD BAD EVIL - Pick TWO and OWN IT. Honest Atheists are as Valuable as an Honest Christian. The Heart is Noble. Honest Gays are as valuable as an Honest Muslim Before I Go On... The Question is Why? Aren't they the same? Yes. They all tend to do GOOD. The EVIL causes Death, Death is Jehovah's (The One, ick, Yah-Weh) Enemy. If we, the herd, and Jesus our Lord all want "GOOD" Hearted people, then the goats will either play ball and play nice in the herd or be cast away and not let back in. Eventually the EVIL will fade. Become SHEEP-LIKE or get lost. THAT Sounds like the GOD I KNOW :) Phew... Now we can all do something BETTER than Yesterday! If We are not part of the Solution, we are part of the Problem! Praise God - And HONEST GOOD People Everywhere! That's YOUR Family! It is Written: For the Meek will inherit the Earth! WOO HOO.... Anti-depressants? Long Gone! Woo Hoo

Islam is the only real threat to western colonial degeneracy. Sikhs submit to liberal western ideology, fornicate in secret, watch Bollywood with naked women, drink alcohol, offer no resistance to the current degenerate world order. Thus Islam is hated, & Sikhs are not even known for the most part.

I'm American, not born Sikh, but everything I'm learning is very familiar. It parallels what I've always thought and felt to be true about life... things I've experienced. I feel dasam duar, feel my heart expand as I chant Waheguru....this is true, make no doubt about it. I'm very grateful to have this English resource. I've been going to gurdwara but miss half of what's going on cause of language barrier. I think language may be THE barrier, the net of Maya. Ego lives in language. It's the story mind tells us about the world and ourselves, but we do naam simran and the story stops, ego disappears, and what's left is True...Guru Ji's unspoken language Satnam Waheguru 🙏

Not true, just google and see Muslims talking about Sikhi on youtube. THe thing you may not be aware of is that our Gurus actually wrote commentaries on Islam, it was a dominant force in India when Sikhi started. Of course the Sikhs helped put an end to the Mughal Empire. Anyway, one last thing is that Sikhs are meant to set up a compassionate kingdom over the whole world, so we need to understand Islam as 1 billion people follow it.

I appreciate your cool and calm manner. You are so balanced. I got a good idea of Sikhi in such a short period of time. Good Job. I particularly liked your "Muslim Questions a Sikh" video. I really appreciated your patience. I would have started laughing at his logic of "40 rhetorical instruments"; I would have laughed because of how closed he was to his logic that he thought you could not see while it was clear that he was blinded. And, in this video you so clearly bring out the subtle differences without offending, while most of my Muslim colleagues end up crossing that boundary because they are obligated to convert you. I see that you experience freedom when you are not under such pressure to convert, when you respect others for what they believe in and let them. Please keep up the good work - I have learnt to appreciate Sikhi more than ever before. Wahe Guru!

*Circular argument at **19:12* Muslims don’t even believe that Guru Nanak had any contact with God. So it still makes perfect sense from our paradigm to say that Muhammad (saw) is the Final Prophet. They try through argument and lies to extinguish the guidance and religion of truth that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sent with. Their example is the example of he who wants to extinguish the light of the sun or the moon by blowing at them! Indeed, such a person will never accomplish what he sought. Likewise, the light of what the Messenger ﷺ was sent with will certainly shine and spread. Allah replied to the idolators' desire and hope, وَيَأْبَى اللَّهُ إِلَّا أَن يُتِمَّ نُورَهُ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُونَ (but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the disbelievers (Kafirun) hate (it)) [9:32]. [Linguistincally] a Kafir is the person who covers something. For instance, night is called Kafiran [covering] because it covers things [with darkness]. The farmer is called Kafiran, because he covers seeds in the ground. Allah said in an Ayah, أَعْجَبَ الْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهُ (thereof the growth is pleasing to the [Kuffar] tillers) [57:20]. Islam is the Religion That will dominate over all Other Religions Allah said next, هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ (It is He Who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth.) Guidance' refers to the true narrations, beneficial faith and true religion that the Messenger ﷺ came with. 'religion of truth' refers to the righteous, legal deeds that bring about benefit in this life and the Hereafter. لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ (to make it (Islam) superior over all religions) It is recorded in the Sahih that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, إِنَّ اللهَ زَوَى لِي الْأَرْضَ مَشَارِقَهَا وَمَغَارِبَهَا، وَسَيَبْلُغُ مُلْكُ أُمَّتِي مَا زُوِيَ لِي مِنْهَا (Allah made the eastern and western parts of the earth draw near for me [to see], and the rule of my Ummah will extend as far as I saw.) Imam Ahmad recorded from Tamim Ad-Dari that he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, لَيَبْلُغَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرُ مَا بَلَغَ اللَّيْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ، وَلَا يَتْرُكُ اللهُ بَيْتَ مَدَرٍ وَلَا وَبَرٍ إِلَّا أَدْخَلَهُ هَذَا الدِّينَ، يُعِزُّ عَزِيزًا وَيُذِلُّ ذَلِيلًا، عِزًّا يُعِزُّ اللهُ بِهِ الْإِسْلَامَ وَذُلًّا يُذِلُّ اللهُ بِهِ الْكُفْرَ (This matter (Islam) will keep spreading as far as the night and day reach, until Allah will not leave a house made of mud or hair, but will make this religion enter it, while bringing might to a mighty person (a Muslim) and humiliation to a disgraced person (who rejects Islam). Might with which Allah elevates Islam (and its people) and disgrace with which Allah humiliates disbelief (and its people).) Tamim Ad-Dari [who was a Christian before Islam] used to say, "I have come to know the meaning of this Hadith in my own people. Those who became Muslims among them acquired goodness, honor and might. Disgrace, humiliation and Jizyah befell those who remained disbelievers." Load More... 2020 WordofAllah.com

+Basics of Sikhi Hindu sages caught that the universe is in a perpetual state of appearing and disappearing through expansion and contraction. So Hindu cosmology speaks of what are known as kappas which are cycles of time, one kappa represents one lifecycle of the universe, One expansion and contraction. This kappa is divided up into smaller units of time known as Yugoslavia. Watch hugs represents an era of human time, I will get into these in the following message because I seem to be limited on the mobile version of KZfaq.

+Basics of Sikhi So these yugas are named after throws in the Hindu game dice, Satya yga is the perfect throw, in this era of time in the world is perfect, all of humanity is fully enlightened and apparently there spiritual and scientific knowledge that is beyond our wildest dreams. The Treta yuga is the less than perfect throw, in this era a little bit of darkness and ignorance arises in the world. The Dvapara yuga The even throw, in this era the forces of light and darkness are evenly balanced. Finally there is the Kali yuga which is the worst throw, this is the era where humanity degenerates into complete barbarism, where darkness and ignorance reigns supreme and the majority of humanity is unenlightened. Following this cycle the universe is destroyed only to be created again and the show begins anew.

About 5 mins. into the video: Another issue. "....Guru Gobind Singh Ji went hunting with Aurangzeb..." Wrong! Guru Ji never met Aurangzeb. It was his son, Bhadur Shah (after Guru Ji helped him), that he invited Guru Guru Ji to meet him. Aurangzeb died sometime after reading the Zafarnama. So the meeting with Guru Ji never took place.

brother I've only recently been turned onto Sikhism, I like it. where can I learn lessons in short digestible videos for a beginner on its practical rules and lessons ( I say this respectfully -without 30 minutes of of history and tradition, as it’s a lot to take in for a beginner) I need it told to me like a kindergartner :) 🙏 thank you. I'm much more interested in the practical application. Please and thank you

@Sani Malik I stand by what I have said. You seem to be suger coating and using less violent sections , the hadiths and quran have many worrying sections . I'm not being mean you or Islam . I am just stating somthing that is true. Either u have not read the quran and hadiths or u have and u are trying to cover up things. But the truth is the truth, we are talking about sexual slavery, murder, beheading , hand choping , child sexual contact , jaziya religious tax used to subdue other faiths , forced or pressed conversion, beating of women ,breast feeding of grown man. That's is just a few things , there are many others . Surly u know about this stuff . The light is clean and true theses activities , are not. I'm sure you will bend over backwards to justify theses activities, but as I said there were prophets who did none of theses activities and preached peace fro all beings on the earth. I'm not saying one is better than the other , all I'm saying let's not act as if it does not exist .

Correction.... Judaism does teach the transmigration of souls, which in Hebrew is called, "gilgul neshamot" (lit. "the cycle of souls"). Each human being has a "neshamah" (divine soul) that is a portion of our Heavenly Father from above (chelek Elokim mi'maal) and each human being has an "nefesh habehamit" (animal soul); ergo, we are at once a celestial being and a terrestrial being. Our purpose in this life is to accomplish "tikkun nefesh," which means "the restoration or repair of the soul." We do this by using our "Good Imagination" (Yetzer Ha-Tov) to tame and turn our "Evil Imagination" (Yetzer Ha-Ra) into a servant of our Creator, the Infinite Oneness. Our Evil Inclination is not "evil" in and of itself, because without it we would not engage in business, build a home, marry, or have children. It is simply our Survival Instinct and Sex Drive, which only becomes "evil" when our selfish urges are allowed to run amok. By making the necessary "soul correction" (tikkun nefesh) in this life, we become a "Co-Working Partner" with the Divine in "repairing this world" (tikkun olam), which has been brought into a state of chaos and/or disrepair by the selfish urges of our animal soul (nefesh habehamit). If we fail to accomplish our necessary "soul correction" in this life, then we will undergo "gilgul neshamot" (the transmigration of the soul) until we have become a transcendent being. When the Apostle Paul tried to teach this to the non-Jews, he opted to use the Greek words "sarx" (flesh) and "pnuema" (spirit) to represent the proto-rabbinic concept of the Evil Inclination (Yetzer Ha-Ra) and the Good Impulse (Yetzer Ha-Tov). In like manner, Sigmund Freud opted to use the words "Id" and "Super-Ego" to describe this dichotomy in the human psyche (soul). Our universe exists within the Multiverse (Sefirot; Emanations), which resides within the Womb of the Infinite Oneness. Rebbe Menachem M. Schneerson says like this, "Peace is not homogeneity. Peace does not mean that everyone thinks the same way. Peace is when there is plurality that finds a higher Oneness." May we all strive to connect to that higher Oneness!

I think Sikhism has a lot in common with Hasidic Judaism. You spoke at length about the teaching of Heaven and Hell in Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, but Judaism doesn't buy into the Occidental notion of the Elysian Fields and Hades as an afterlife destination for the righteous and the wick. In fact, during the Second Temple Period, the Jewish Sages worked very hard to purge Judaism of these foreign Hellenistic notions, that had been adopted by the common folk. Instead, the Jewish Sages focused their teachings on repairing this world (tikkun olam) and restoring one's soul (tikkun nefesh). They taught that this was all part of the Path of the Deity (Derech Ha-Shem; lit. the Way of The Name). Emphasis is given to charity (tzedakah) and acts of loving-kindness (gemilut chasidim), as well as the Sixty-Six Commandments that are obligatory for all of mankind to follow (cf. the Noahide Laws). However, if one's life is threatened, then one need only abstain from committing idolatry, sexual immorality, and murder. One must accept martyrdom, rather than engage in these Three Cardinal Sins. The Orthodox Jews of today flatly reject the notion that the righteous will spend an eternity in some heavenly Paradise (Gan Eden), whilst the wicked will spend an eternity in Gehinnom. Even the most wicked person only spends one year in Gehinnom, where their soul is cleansed from the blemishes brought about by their conduct while on Earth. It is taught that each person's neshamah (Divine Soul) is like a clean garment that is given to us on loan. Therefore, it's important to keep that garment clean and serviceable, so we can return it to the Deity in the same condition that it was given to us. If one's garment is dirty or tattered by one's conduct during their life, then one will have to undergo another transmigration of the soul (gilgul neshamah), until one becomes a selfless transcendent being. We are all us literally the Offspring of our Heavenly Father; we need only behave like our Heavenly Father, Who causes it to rain upon the just and the unjust. This is what it means to actualize the Path of the Deity (Derech Ha-Shem). Further, it is taught that the Deity will one day turn us all into immortal beings, who will have no need for a Survival Instinct and Sex Drive, which simply means that the Deity will remove the Evil Impulse (Yetzer Ha-Ra) from the human equation, and humanity will then enter into the World to Come (Olam Ha-Ba), that is to say, a utopian world - on this planet - unlike anything that mankind is presently willing to work toward.

Just one more small correction.... Unlike Christianity and Islam, Judaism does not seek converts. There's no need for anyone to convert to Judaism, because we all have the Spirit of the Living Deity inside of us. We need only actualize it. I think Sikhism and Judaism share this same notion. Rebbe Menachem M. Schneerson says like this, "There is no truth about the Deity. Truth is the Deity. There is no one who learns Truth. You become Truth. There is no need to search for Truth. You have inherited it and it is within you. You need only learn quietness [in order] to listen to that inheritance."

Amazing parchar Basics of Sikhi! Though as mentioned (by Basics of Sikhi) Sikhs we believe everyone is equal and all can reach the same destination (God), there are some differences in religions, with the utmost respect. - Sikhs do not believe in a 'Satan'/Devil, as Waheguru/God is unrivalled. No-one is a rival to God. We are responsible for our own actions. - Sikhs do not believe in performing alterations to the body, for example circumcision. - Sikhs do not believe in fasting, as Sikhs believe in sharing and fighting hunger, for example, langar (Sikh community kitchen) in Gurdwaras are like on a 24/7 basis, which provide free food to our fellow beings and everyone is welcome (regardless of religion/colour/race/gender). - All beings are equal, no human or animal is superior or inferior as we are part of Gods. creation. Eg. believe the Muslim brothers/sisters are forbidden the swine/pig. A Sikhs aim is to connect, experience God through love via meditation on Gods name and reciting or singing of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Hence with respect we do not believe is 72 virgins as our aim is to become 'One' with the 'Creator'. This is our 'Heaven'. However there are differences, but similarities, regardless of religion/beliefs, good actions and deeds with remembrance on God is the Truth.

I am Muslim having great respect for your religion but i feel there are some misunderstandings i want to share to help someone... 1. Mansoor was killed for the wrong reason Muslim believe. But you can also think basic definition of God who is always present and Who can do anything He want. How person can become God as he/she is not perfect and his all decisions does not change into reality but we muslims believe Man reaches to Allah by following his methods and Allah can turn his wishes true each time but its not necessary. 2. Islam believe that inside grave you will start facing what you did in your life. Good people reach good place while others....., We believe that its necessary that Message of GOD should reached non believers for their decision to reach final destination after death, If people dont know so they are free its not their mistake, that's why no concept of multiple lives. 3. Islam believe Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) was last prophet and his orders are final one but God can guide anyone directly but he can not tell this way to others as this would not be Universal way of living. Teaching of Islam are implementable for everyone around the globe. 4. Quran Says "And indeed We have created man, and We know whatever thoughts his inner self develops, and We are closer to him than (his) jugular vein" So we believe God is all where. not only above. 5. Muslims believe 7 heavens but we believe that this universe is too big and having number of planets nd...... +Hasan Habib I am a born Muslim but now I feel myself somewhat deist , I have some questions 1. we Muslim believe God is closer to us but he is closer or connected to us through his angels A.. Prophet Muhammad went to heaven to meet God on his night journey and spoke to god there up in heaven behind a veil (means God has some physical body and Quran also speaks about body parts of God like hand and ankles ) B... There are Angels on the both shoulders of every human being who makes the record C... Even God needs a angel Jibrael to communicate His message to the Prophets on Earth According to Islam there is a God up in heaven on his throne and throne is on Water and he created number of Angels and those angles serve him and do work according to his command (a concept may be coined seeing the Earthly Kings) 2. I have read Quran almost hundreds of times but there is no mention of any planet in it ... This is what I found A... God sends rains from Sky B... During Noha Flood God opened the doors of Heaven to gush out water on Earth and then earth swallowed the Water (there is no enough water on Earth to create a situation like Noha flood) C.... Quran only speaks about Seven Heavens (skys) and among seven heavens God created a Moon (but science tells us there are millions of moons in this universe) D... God created Moon and Sun to serve humanity and they are running in sky to serve humanity and they cannot overtake each others (as most naive people see form naked eye) E.... God created Stars for decoration (Sun is also a star but Quran differentiate between sun and stars as most naive people do ) F..... God can throw stars on earth to punish people (no need to throw stars on earth a single star is enough to destroy earth even before touching earth) G..... Shooting Stars are God missiles to kill Satans who steal information form heavenly court

Quite a few flaws in this video, I'll just point out these ones: 35:10 : He tries to imply says that Jewish people, Christians and Muslims believe that the universe was created 5000 or some years ago. This is only believed by a minority of Christian literalists. Muslims reject this idea completely. 36:43 : The big crunch is one hypothesis of many, and is becoming the least favored explanation of the end of the universe due to the lack of evidence for it. Also, the supporting verse could easily be interpreted in a single universe understanding. He also brings up the big bang a lot and references it back to how Sikhi also believes in this explanation. The support provided for this claim is very weak, it's super vauge and just looks like a misinterpretation. However, in Islam, the claim of the big bang is explicit: Quran 21:30 "Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and then We separated them and made from water every living thing? As a Shia Ismaili Muslim whose ancestors originated in the Indian sub-continent, I actually relate to and agree with almost every single if not all the ideas, concepts and philosophy of Sikhism that were mentioned in this talk... With this in mind I would like to share below a few verses from one of the devotional songs which is rooted within the Indian-subcontinent tradition of my faith. These devotional songs called "GINANS" (from the Sanskrit 'JNANA' meaning divine / meditative / contemplative knowledge) were composed by individual ISMAILI SAINTS known as PIRS who were sent from Iran to the communities of India by the ISMAILI IMAMS in order to show them the "SATPANTH" or "True Path" according to which the Ismaili Imam was the SATGUR (True Guide) whose teachings lead the murid (disciple) to "DARSHAN" or "spiritual enlightenment" in the Ismaili Tariqah (spiritual path) of Islam - The verses here are from a Ginan composed by one of the earliest Pirs known as PIR SHAMS (13th century) and is called BRAHM PRAKASH (Divine Light) Take note of verses 47 and 121 :) Satshabd hay guru hamaaraa, Taa(n)ko lakhe nayo sa(n)saaraa………………. ..1 The True Word (Isme Azam) is my Guide. The world at large does not have much regard for it/recognise it Naam letaa bhayaa prem prakaashaa, Tab upajyaa man-vishvaas..............................................5 By taking the name, light of “love” starts shining in one’s mind and deep faith or contentment arises Kaho prem laksha kesaare bhaai, Gupt bhed kahu(n) pragatta bataai.......................................................6 Brother, you may ask, what is this Light of Love? Let me tell you openly the secret. Pothi pataraa vaa(n)chi sunaave, Vaa(n) sukh ki gati-ve nahi paave.............................................12 No amount of reading of books can give you the experience of this happiness; also no sermons can describe the experience of this bliss. Aur naanak-shaah ne paayaa, Ek naam nishva karine dhyaayaa.........................................47And Nanak Shah attained peace; he practiced the word with conviction. Shabd Niri(n)jan Niraakaari, Jis-ne fir a(n)jan nahi dhaari...............................................93 The word (ajampia jamp) is indescribable and is formless, and it does not assume any form anymore Agam nigam puraann kuraanaa, Saaheb mahimaa bhaa(n)khat naanaa....................121 Ancient sacred vedas, the Quran and the teachings of NANAK have all discussed the Divine mysteries. That is why I am very disappointed that such generalisations were made about "Islam" - I think that a more sophisicated and nuanced understanding of the complexity of religion is required here from the individual goving this talk. Such simplistic and reductionist understandings of Islam and "religion" as a whole is extremely damaging. I'm always wary of long-held and widely accepted assumptions about what “x” or “y” religions is or says... The diversity of Islam - which is not a monolith - is evident as a historical fact but too many times, religion, and in this case “Islam”, is seen as some immutable and static unchanging entity. Consequently, phrases such as “Islam says…” or “Muslims believe…” are all too prevalent in today’s society. These statements fail to recognise the internal diversity within the Islamic tradition sadly and thus, certain communities within Islam who do not necessarily agree with a majoritarian opinion on certain concepts, ideas and philosophies are somehow seen as "not really Muslim" Not only is this disrespectful to that communities right to understand the Revelation in their own way but implies that majority opinion is somehow "orthodox" or "correct belief" and that all other beliefs within Islam are somehow deviations and thus incorrect. 'Islam' rather, is like a rich tapestry or a patchwork blanket which although 'one' in some sense of the word, is richly diverse; this diversity being a source of its strength and its beauty. Any attempt to present an image of Islam as some immutable and eternal monolithic worldview is not only far from the truth but is also a historical and contemporary fallacy In my own particular context, as a member of Shia Ismaili Muslim community, and as a confessionary R.E. teacher (one who teaches within the faith community context), this is something which I find hugely problematic given my knowledge of the internal diversity that exists within the Islamic tradition. At the broadest level we see this in the diversity of Sunni and Shia Muslims but each have their own internal diversity also. This intra-faith diversity is - I feel - all too often overlooked, usually to the detriment of society and it’s understanding of religion. A myopic view of religion which holds religion to be a static, unchanging, immutable monolith breeds ignorance and undoubtedly is a contributing factor towards “religious illiteracy” . As a teacher I have always encouraged my students to appreciate that Islam does not say or do anything nor does it tell us anything because “Islam” is neither an entity with free-will to act nor does it have any agency. It is an abstract phenomenon, an idea, an ideal even. But it does not say or do anything. I hope that what I have shared here as a member of a Muslim community will be taken on board and we can see just how powerful the similarities can be if they are sought out.

Also the 48th Ismaili Imam (1885-1957) stated in one of his edicts to the Ismaili Jamats in the Indian Subcontinent... "You know that when rain pours on to the earth, it gathers, drop by drop, to form a river, which finally merges into the sea. All rainwater eventually reaches the sea once again. The same is true of the soul. The soul too has its abode and the abode of the soul is infinite. You must aim eventually at fana (annihilation). Whoever has the will and tries hard enough will be able to attain that state. But it is your shortcomings, which have put you in bonds, so that you are imprisoned in this world Those who have only superficial knowledge of the faith have fantastic notions about me. They believe that my job is to heal the sick. This is not my task. My task is to show you the Way to the Truth, so that you may achieve your real destiny, which is the state of fanafillah. Fana stands for “annihilation,” fi meaning “in”, and Allah being “God”. To be fanafillah is to lose oneself in God’s Essence. You must keep on asking yourself: “What is God, and why cannot I become one with Him?” You must have such ambitions and you should meditate over what I am saying. For instance, Jesus became one with God. He was in love with the Haqiqat (i.e. the Truth). As a result, he was able to attain union with God... When you bow down in the worship of God, you must implore Him to help you attain your true home. Like a child separated from the mother, one must yearn for reunion with God." This was one of his most powerful and spiritually inspiring edicts to our community... It would seem therefore that the esoteric teachings of the Shia Ismaili Muslim tariqah (path) have an almost IDENTICAL philosophy and teaching about the purpose of life, the nature of 'God' etc. as the Sikh tradition and teachings of the Gurus... And these things which I have shared are a drop in the ocean of our literature especiially within the GINANS which can highlight the beauty of our shared understandings of 'faith'

Reincarnation and karma philosophy: The cycle of 8.4million and suffer for your own actions. A person born as a human being, spent his life doing bad deeds, died, born again. Let me put two chances out of many to ask you to shed some light on it. 1.Born as deformed person: if he suffers for his "previous life's" actions, shouldn't he remember the bad deeds he had been doing, to avoid repeating them again to be punished again, if he doesn't remember, which in 99.99% cases people do not remember their "previous lives" how can one correct oneself to gain another human form to give it another try. 2. Born as an animal: and if one was too bad in one's human life that he was born as an animal after being died, how one as an animal choose to be good where animals do not have freedom of choice. Because a lion can not choose not to kill a deer or a goat, it's in lion's nature to kill, similarly a snake can not choose not to bite to be moral. Let's say that every bad person had to go through the vicious cycle of 8.4 million, how could you present your god to be just and merciful?

I fully agree with the Sikh philosophy. As he was a guru, I guessing he just connected straight to that essence and pure consciousness that is god. A lot of gurus, swamis and enlightened beings do, so this is also why i am now a yoga practitioner, particularly Kriya yoga. Its funny, what jesus teaches (about being good to others, no killing stealing etc is actually the first 2 limbs of yoga. Then it starts getting into meditation once sins (which are essentially mind pollutions, or anything that distracts us from the goal of union or "yoga") are gone. Would love to learn more about your religion. Where can i get the main texts you guys read? Are they in English too?

Sri Guru Granth sahib is the last and 11th spiritual guru and there is an english translation of it if you google it. However it is written in Punjabi poetry so the translation may be lost a bit. but you should get the feel of it, if you learn punjabi and read the poetry it makes you fall in love with God and everything follows after that. Plus the gurus were not considered standard Gurus they were considered as spiritual masters that were linked to God, ie they were one of a kind and special , sent by god to help the world.

I did not have time to listen to video for more than few minutes. You may have mentioned this: One of the fundamental differences between Sikhism and Islam/Christianity/Judaism is that while they all believe in one God, that God is ONLY for that religion. ie in Islam God's name is Allah and has chosen Islam In Judaism God favors Jews. Is this belief in One God or a believe in a God? There is a difference. Sikhism: ONE God, with Infinite Names (or no name: as we give name according to our language/culture), Infinite paths (with core beliefs), Infinite life forms throughout the cosmos that believe in that One God (yes Aliens exist and universe is flourishing with life), God favors NO religion (but favors human attributes), "colors of religion fade after death" (Guru Nanak),God has NO form, is dimensionless, has NO Son, No Relatives......is beyond description God pervades the entire cosmos and resides within all living beings (Islam believes God is in heaven)...... As one writer put, the concept of God explained by Guru Nanak was revolutionary. Heaven and Hell: Its a state of Mind/state of living. ( for example, Japji: Man Jeet Jag Jeet). There is no physical place that is heaven or hell. Of course if one is living close to an active volcano that may experience hell (state of living) or one living in princely estate can experience hell (state of mind). Heaven and Hell is ALL here, on planet earth. How about other planets? Guru Says, life throughout the cosmos......other life forms have their own issues/religion/culture......

I don't know why you think the Jews say God favors them; their own story is that God tried to take the covenant to several cultures (but they rejected it), before he finally offered it to the Jews. And it gives Jews more responsibilities, not more rights, over other cultures. *I think Judaism is actually closest to Sikhism*, in both theology & history, because: 1. as it's closer to Kanaanite paganism than Xtians or Islam, and yet monotheist, Jews tolerated Pagan temples, e.g. at Tel Motza near Jerusalem), 2. they don't proselytize, 3. the "Shekhina" (feminine form of God...something you'll NEVER find in sexist Islam & Roman-Christianity) is like "Mother Nature" but is strongest in 1 spot, but there are *earth's earliest stonehenges in Israel [[a type of structure that spread to many non-Kanaanite cultures]] (e.g. 15,000 BCE google "Kineret stone circle" or "Atlit Yam" which share with the later henges of UK: cupmarks, religious burial, & astronomy) meaning they inspired both UK pagans & Egyptian (there's a stonehenge at Nabta Playa, 70km west of The Nile, from 5000BCE, "Dynasty ZERO" of Egypt...)* yet Jews were still aligning buildings to the rising sun on Summer Solstice as recently as Qumran (where Dead Sea Scrolls were found) and even have Tel Gezer (Judges period of 'dark age' evolving early-Jews) that shares megalithic features with as far-away sites as Easter Isle in the PACIFIC [[as both Polynesian & Mayan folklore is that pale men with beard on boats that moved themselves [what the "feathers" of Quetzquatl represent: sailing...for which navigation, ASTRONOMY of the henges, is valuable] came & taught them their secrets, and there's a general recognition among scientists & religionists that *Jews came from Kanaanites, Kanann came from Mesopotamia (Genesis says Abraam came from "Ur,"* a city unearthed in Sumeria (near Iraq/Kuwaiti border & genetics further confirms it), and now many *links from Indus Valley Civilization* influencing the Sumero-Kanaanites is now being discovered... 4. God also has no name that Jews will PRONOUNCE, but has many ever-evolving names (usually referring to him simply as "HaShem": "the name"), 5. there is no heaven or hell, just a resurrection (at which time those "attributes" that God favors, as you called them, will be risen, but any people who chose to do bad things apparently don't goto a "hell," they just aren't resurrected/reincarnated), 6. Jews also lived in toleration of & frequent cooperation with Phoenicians (fellow Kanaanites who stayed polytheist; the only wars of Pagan Kanaan against Israel was the Five Kanaanite Kings who attacked Joshua; he merely defending the Gibeonites as he had promised) until Phoenicia was wiped out by Rome, has no 'son'... I think the only missing part is no knowledge of planets, only stars, cuz it was 2,500 years earlier than Sikhi.

Islam isn't a belief in "a God", ALLAH means The (One) God. If Islam were about worshiping a deity, it would be "Ilah" which is "a God". In Islam, Allah is the Lord of all that exists - not just of Muslims. The opening chapter even states this. Furthermore, in Islam, God has many Names - 99 of which can be found in the Quran, which reflect His attributes.
