This conversation is a waste of time and just a more nuanced denial about problems and issues about islam. Admittedly most americans are ignorant about islam and those who has been unexposed to the tenets of islam failed to see it for what it actually is. Muslims has to do a lot more to convince the world that islam are more benign than how the world is experiencing from it existentially. I completely disagree with one of the panel speaker who claimed that it is not the responsibility of muslims to convince the world that islamic terrorism has nothing to do with muslims. So is he saying that it is the responsibility of non-muslims to do so? As a resident of a muslim majority country, I can testify to the growing intolerance of muslims against non muslims and the constant pushing against the envelope for the enforcement of islamic laws. The fact of the matter is that islam as it is is not compatible with the world as one would wish it to be.

Mr shadi hamid what do you expect from those whose family were destroyed and devastated by american and european bombing in libya, iraq and syria. Do you want them to love you. That wont happen ever. What is my understanding as a docter that every devastated hopeless person will think for revenge. USA is in a geographically safe location that these devastated people can not reach there to take revenge other wise probably america would have suffered a lot. Therefore my view is that do not torture people that will only create cycle of hate and revenge.
