Love the old video reminds me of the two holidays i had there in 1971 and 1972

So lovely to see these 1938 stock trains still running. The Isle Of Wight is my second home. I get very sentimental riding on Ryde Rail/Island Line trains.

It would appear the passenger numbers must have dramatically reduced over the years if they are only running 2 car units.

What a pity the Pre '36 Standard Stock didn't last a bit longer. I much preferred these to the later 1938 stock even when they were both running on London Transport. However, we were lucky to have the '38 stock as long as we did. I wonder how long the D78s will last on the Island?
