We're on the Isle of Man for three days! And on the firsts day we ride the Isle of Man Steam Railway from Douglas down to Port Erin, meeting Ian along the way, seeing the request stop at the airport, oh and Vicki explores a castle, OF COURSE ...
This is part of the 'All The Stations - Ireland' Kickstarter, thanks to each and everyone of our backers for their support, and we hope you enjoy the signs and sounds of the Isle of Man Railways.

As the Bus approaches Fairy Bridge the auto announcer states, 'Say Hello to the Fairys' and as the Bus Crosses it, the announcer says, 'Hello Fairys! ' A nice touch connecting the modern tech on the Buses with Tradition. Also loco Drivers exchange Tokens with each other at Castletown makes for a great photo op as the tokens are old wooden Batons

@@moose_ringo9161 to be fair, once you take into account shipping (which is around 3.5-4 hours on the boat from england!) it's not too bad, however at one point they did have to start flying sugar in as we do have a flour mill, and a number of bakeries, but no sugar farms, and the boat hadn't run for a number of days so tesco almost ran out of bread!

Me and my mate Smiley used to catch a compartment train to work each morning from St Deny's to Woolston in the 1970's. We'd head to the end of the train as no one would be in the last compartment. Sadly Smiley didn't make it to the 21st century.

I love the Isle of Man! There's so much to explore, and those explorer cards are brilliant because you can use them on all the transport on the Island. My favourite place on the Island has to be the Laxey Wheel. It's so beautiful.

Fairy Bridge is great!! I've done several bus trips across the bridge and everytime there was an automated announcement to say hello to the fairies and the whole bus did. A great tradition that everyone seems to follow, back there in August and guess what. I'll be saying hello to the fairies. A fabulous Island.

Many years ago I was in the I.o.M for the TT Races. I had bought some rather nice souvenirs and had them stuffed inside my leather jacket. I remember riding my 7500cc Honda motorcycle across the Fairy Bridge and NOT saying hello to the fairies. After all, who believes in fairies? When I got back to my hotel in Douglas my jacket was still firmly fastened but all the souvenirs had vanished. I made sure after that, and for many years when I visited the Island, that I ALWAYS greeted the fairies. Loved your video as always Geoff.

I have always gone for a holiday every 2-3 years to the Isle of Man and I always do the steam railway first day like you so brilliant choice of travel arrangement. Also the engines you were on: 15 Caledonia was built in 1885 for the Manx Northern Railway from St. John to Ramsey and also 12 Hutchinson was built in 1908. Also in the 1990's when I was a kid it was the only engine to be painted in blue. You should have gone to the House of Mannanin when you were in Peel brilliant history of the early settlers of the Island, The Celts and Vikings but also the building it is in is the old Peel Station when it was in use from 1873-1968. Food for thought. Can't wait for the next trip you do on the Isle of Man. & by the way nice TT Cap Geoff. 😊😄
