Күн бұрын

It's Day 3 on the Isle of Man and having ticked off the Steam Railway and Manx Electric Railway, it's time for bonus video visiting two other railways on the island! Oh, and there's a small matter of the impressive Laxey Wheel as well to explore!
This is part of the 'All The Stations - Ireland' Kickstarter, thanks to each and everyone of our backers for their support, and for letting us show you the railways of the Isle of Man.

Nice to see that the IOM has a refreshingly relaxed attitude to health and safety! No Nanny State there..!! ... and I love the way everything is a bit homemade and rickety! The chalk sign about the request stop in the 'garden shed' shelter! ... and the green chair!! Just wonderful......

Yay bonus! Thank you for shedding light on this beautiful underrated island, I have since added it to my bucket list. That's a huge wheel. When I lived in Sleepy Hollow, there's a wheel like that one but much smaller and it's from the time of Dutch/British colonization in the 1600s (the owner was Dutch but it was built when NY was a British colony)

I’ve loved these IoM films as I had an aunt who lived there and was taken twice to stay with her as a very small child, but then she died before I was three and I haven’t been back since. I have very dim memories and a few b/w photos of the steam trains, Laxey Wheel and some very sunny beaches. My parents used to talk about Lacey and Groudle Glen a lot. You’ve brought it all to life for me! Thank you. I WILL visit myself. Maybe next summer.

I always like GGR more then the other I think because of its own class of character & you did get to ride Sea Lion the original Steam Engine that came to the Island for the Opening of the Line. I do remember there was a steam engine called Annie but I don't know where that is. You did forget the Miniature Train at the Curraghs Wildlife Park. And you may have to go back for the Horse Tram when it is running again. All in All a Brilliant 3 days of seeing the most magnificent Trains and Trams in the world. Thank you both Geoff and Vicki.
