I understand your comments about the octopus book but I suspect there are few aspects of most food production that would not impact our conscience. As a matter of interest you may enjoy a book by Shelby van Pelt called Remarkably bright creatures. I found it to be interesting, amusing, emotional and extremely informative. Sorry you have been dealing with Covid; and glad you and G are doing better. I am still masking here and FIL just got released from hospital with having RSV....now being isolated at his asst. living facility. It isn't fun out there. Your story of picking strawberries made me want to share the story of my Memere becoming a widow with 10 children and Mom said they had to be put on a bus every day to pick beans to help out. I am sure they didn't make much for money; but Memere would pack them each a lunch and off they would go during the summer days. Mom is now 88, so that was a long time ago. I have been watching birds for decades now, and have learned to recognize many by their song; which makes it so much fun in the spring. I always get excited when I hear a new arrival calling out...never outgrow it and here I am now 69 lol. You have been pretty busy while sick, good for you to get things done. I am currently reading Mad Honey. Be well, you will be back to family activities soon. HUGS

Can't believe how much you are getting accomplished while being sick. I got the fabric prepped for a new quilt this week. Now to get it going. Also making "Dungeons and Dragons" themed quilt for one of the boys. It feels good to be getting things done. Octopus are very intelligent beings. I saw a documentary about them. So very interesting. Just amazing creatures. Hope you and G get better quickly. (hey, I've set the smoke alarm off with steam! No smoke involved) My hubby used to tease me that you could tell when supper was ready as the smoke alarm would go off. Thanks for the info about the new flexifuse. I noticed there was only one package of SF101 on the rack, so I grabbed it 'just in case'. Your stawberry pin cushion is so cute. It would also.look good in a tart tin. I belog to "Woolley Fiber Friends". We just started a new mystery quilt along. 12 shops, 12 weeks a new woolapplique pattern each Monday. Tulips are the theme. Pattern is free for one week then you pay for it. Also kits are available. So much fun. Congrats on your win. Happy quilting!

I’m still grieving the closure of Fabric Depot for its huge selection of quilting fabrics. It was a destination shop for me back when I was only a visitor to the area; now I’m retired, live here 6 months of the year and sew constantly. Can you recommend places to go to fill that void? I’ve been to Center Diamond in Cannon Beach but that’s a hike from Portland/Vancouver. Thanks.

Yes, pigs are quite smart. My husband raised pigs when he was a young boy and said that pigs are so much smarter than sheep for instance. Stop feeling so guilty about eating octopus or pigs in the past. What’s done is done. And people do have to eat after all. As much as we love animals, the lives of people are more valuable. And people were made to eat meat. We are carnivores. It’s just a fact of life.
