A colonial settler state is exactly what the Arabs want to make of this place. The Jewish people come from Judea, aka "the land of Israel" that was called "Palestine" after the Jews were expelled to Europe and other places. As a native American you should be much more exited about Israel becoming a reality again.

Yet Hamas does not care about the destruction of Gaza because it uses most of Gaza for combatant purposes. Tunnels enter many buildings or next to schools/ hospitals. Hamas could release the hostages but they choose not to.Israel is choosing to find them. The split in Israel over the ceasefire is misrepresented here. It is predominantly based on getting the hostages back which was not mentioned in this superficial piece of reporting.

so much for morality... At least anyone not very in tune to issues that took place in my youth wit PM Rabine can get good long view of what has gone terribly wrong in that region. Things were always bad but there was some hope. Now emboldened and enabled by constant western weapons and political cover most people not polarized who were shocked on 10/7 have only got sicker with time. Much different dynamic to arms supply of the earlier wars in region at the time when France and England were main global suppliers. The irony of supporting a neighbor nation resisting occupation, land grabs, and slaughter in Ukraine while enabling another country to do the very same is the worst foreign policy of my lifetime. Imagine yugoslav war taking place while Serbia had a licensed lobbying arm in the us govt and milosavic was invited to speak at congress. Giving tours of sarajevo or take your pic its so shameful and we lose face every day we are complicit and not truly actively influencing its ceasefire. Handing one side bombs and munitions while we half heartedly try to feed the other is embarrassing again. Instead we actively participated in prosecution and accountability for Mladic for genocide in Srebrenicia using same tactics of bulldozing graves etc something which was widely admired by most humans with a touch of grace and humanity.

Hamas is recruiting in Gaza again- guess they need replacements. Hezbollah a way bigger issue locally & regionally. They don’t seem keen on backing off. It seems like they want Israel to make a large escalation in Southern Lebanon. What do they know that isn’t common knowledge? IDF will make S. Lebanon like Gaza so I’m not clear on the strategy.
