Israel would just claim there was a member of Hamas in the building when they blew it up, and that would be the end of it as far as our government would be concerned. This is extremely troublesome.

This was not a secret. At the UNSC meeting where they voted on this deal of the US/Israel... the Israeli rep specifically said they will not continue negotiations with Hamas, and they will continue the war. Which is why Hamas countered the deal with offering only the deceased hostages for the first phase of the plan... the six week ceasefire... which will continue ONLY IF both parties continue to negotiate in good faith. I always read that to mean that after the female hostages were returned, then Israel would go Hannibal, sacrificing their male hostages, and continue with the war immediately the six weeks were up.
