In this video I introduce a K98k that I acquired cheaply. It's in extremely poor condition and I show the problem areas as well as the process to remove the action from the stock.

Just found your channel, I love your content, now I am going to binge watch your stuff :) I am a bit jealous of your tools, I wish I had room for a lathe and a mill because there's so much I'd love to learn and try with them.

Next time you have a stuck rusty bolt, heat it any way that is acceptable for the job and put some wax on it. Gulf canning wax is the best I've found to use and only costs $1.99 a box. The heat draws the wax under the head of the fastener and into the threads. Old School, and it works a lot better than anything else I've found and I've tried it all. Look up a video

Local Jewish militias (being called “Haganah” or “Defense”) started acquiring German captured rifles in 1920s, 30s and 40s.... The main suppliers were Russian territories and Czech BRNO...most in 7.92x57mm... later in early 1950s Israel placed order to FN HESTRAL, Belgium to supply Mauser 1930 that is also in 7.92x57mm. At about the same time, the Israelis purchased an assembly line to produce their own version of the K98 from Switzerland for $2 million. However delays in delivery, prevented the large-scale production of complete K98; instead they shifted to adopt the Belgian FN FAL chambered in 7.62mm NATO as its main battle rifle. The K98 facility was then left to produce spare parts and overhaul all of the various existing K98s in the country. To standardize ammunition supply, the rifles in the first three groups were reworked and re-barreled to use the 7.62mm NATO cartridge. Those guns comprise the fourth group. They have finger-grooved beechwood stocks, new barrels, a large “7.62” hammered into the receiver top and an equally large “7.62” branded into the butt of the stock. Rework and acceptance/proof marks consisted of a Star of David and the Hebrew tsade letter in a circle, usually on the left side of the receiver. In addition, the reworked rifles were fitted with a front sight hood, peculiar to Israel, with two holes and a rivet to secure it in place. The country kept 7.62mm NATO version in service till the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Many were made into sniper rifles, commonly using Nimrod or Kahles telescopic sights.

Hi. Thanks for the video. But first it was necessary to unscrew the dowel and remove the wood, and then remove the cartridge box. Sincerely.
