Scope that camshaft position sensor, you should have 5v feed, an earth/ground & a 0v to 5v square wave sign. It was only rising to 2.5v in my cause . Good luck with it 🤞🤞🤞

This is a good example of having correct information and a logical diagnostic process being absolutely necessary in this field. I sometimes reflect on past cases and see if I could have taken a different approach to get to the conclusion faster.

Absolutely correct, the necessity for accurate information & scantool feedback is vital and really can lead you so far astray if incorrect 😤👍👍

I couldn’t figure out why my fuel pressure was so high & the scantool wasn’t seeing engine speed. It all sounds simple when you say it t like that, but unfortunately I didn’t see it at the time. Delighted to get a result though 🙏🙏👍

Cryckies Peter that was a marathon session…4 weeks!! - I know ye weren’t on it all day every day..but I bet in your head ye were. Some serious diagnostics going on between the two videos and wise to have as many heads as possible on it..Sometimes we can get so focused on just that one rabbit hole.. Fair play for the perseverance..certainly not an easy or clear one by any means. For the majority I suspect this wagon could have been signed off to the scrap. Your videos are so insightful and helpful Peter..what you demonstrate can be applied to any car and diagnostics of sensors etc. Keep up the educational work - its very much appreciated 👍🏻 Maybe time for a rebranding…: Kennedys Auto University-Where the learning never stops 😊

Thank you so much for that Damien, I really do appreciate it. But you’ll be giving me a big head 🙂🙂 In hind sight I should have noticed the 200,000kpa fuel pressure being too high at the start, but only for the encounter I probably wouldn’t have known or realised that the injectors not opening would have caused it 😤 Something to learned everyday 🙏🙏

Ohh Peter a man after my own heart just keep going and going i used to work in a hgv workshop and let me tell you the Isuzu lorries are famous for cam sensors doing exactly this if it doesn’t see cam it doesn’t know when to inject fuel hence the injectors not opening and if it doesn’t know the positio of cam it’ll disable crank as they need to be synchronised to allow the ecu to calculate the signal I’ve been down this exact road with a Isuzu n series lorry and much like you it took me a decade to figure out what was happening I was coming in on Sundays to get to the bottom of it pain in the bottom well done though getting to it a pure legend luv it lol

@@kennedysgarage3281 Pretty hefty wedge these days - the "Upside" of being good at rust repair - you get to work on a procession of "Wow" motors as opposed to dull as ditch-water ones. Most days outside is like a "Top-Trumps" moment when walking into the workshop. Even the local "Cool Kids" like the stuff we get to weld on. And not a scan-tool to be seen. :-)

Common fault on this vehicle. Most of the time it will happen when engine is hot. Always fails the same way where it can not pull down the signal to 0v. The crank sensor fails in the same way but the difference is the vehicle will still start but will be in limp. So in short these 4jj1 engines can run with only cam but not with only crank sensor.
