The most used phrase "It doesnt make any sense", well, its better to say "it doesnt make any sense -at this point-" :) You know only whats allowed for you to know. By this point you should already know that there is something behind pretty much "everything" thats happening. Few episodes ago you were very certain you cannot like Kabuto, only seeing all his slithery and vile actions, but than you saw "what got him to do all those horrible things", that simply the shinobi world was hard on him big time. For the statement "We know why Pain was like he was as his life was hard", just a thought for you, why do you think Obito's life was easier for him than Nagato's? :) Or hey, even worse? :) As for his stated reason, you shouldnt think hard on it in this way. It isnt important "when" she died, but "that" she died. The answers will be given, not really sure how long it will take, but it will be soon :) And to correct one your misconception, Obito isnt mad at Kakashi or the world, not per se. His words and actions are saying that he is nihilist, he simply doesnt give a damn, just like he said in this world. "What would I gain from criticizing this absurd reality. I have no interests in affairs of a world soon to end." The reasons for this will also be revealed in time :)

The fandom works very hard to keep this point a secret from newbies, so it's always satisfying to see someone lose their mind at this. (And it's been about 18-19 years since he "died".)

One thing you should know about Obito is Rin was his whole world. Obito keeps falling and falling into darkness because there is no one left to reach out to him unlike Naruto, he had Jiraiya, Tsunade, Sakura, Shikamaru, Kakashi and the whole village but Obito only had Madara when he first fall into darkness.. thats the biggest difference, not all in this world are lucky.. sometime too much suffering gives birth to hate..

its actually been around 17 years since they were kids and Obito was crushed. They were around 13 then and now around 30 at this time

You're absolutely correct Suzy, it makes no sense why Obito would change so much. Not yet at least. I think it was equally surprising that Jiraiya's pupil ended up becoming Pain, but we now realize what happened.

One of the most important details was finding out Rin died. Obito made Kakashi promise he'd protect her. And then we find out Kakashi failed to keep his promise. If Obito was alive he'd be pissed as hell. And since Madara recognized Obito at the end it obviously means he had some hand in saving him. Its not a plot-hole. Its been set-up since the beginning. All your questions will be answered. Just watch.

It’s should be noted that Obito did not have a good up bringing, if u read the Kakashi manga it says how Obito was an Orphan and was almost entirely harassed by the Uchiha clan for being weak, in a way he is very much like naruto in where his family IS his squad. Let’s also not forget that their squad had participated in the war for a while before Obito supposedly died, and Obito was pretty much forced to fight in this war where he had of course seen horrible things on a normal basis. His final dying wish for kakashi to protect Rin put him at peace, and as seen this promise wasn’t kept. Their is more to come but I hope this clears it up a little.
