Loved this ride despite getting dropped ~ it doesn’t matter, we still enjoyed ourselves! It was advertised as a drop ride so we were expecting it! Always good to push yourself a little, but it’s also okay accept when you’re tried and let yourself fall back without being hard on yourself.
Thank you so much for watching, if you can spare a second to hit subscribe with your pinky that would be awesome.

Miss Amy, Thank you for the post. Both you and Kyle seemed to have had a grand ride. Not in to the cold ride but I am doing it. Looking forward to your future posts. Thanks again.

Always been a hard Month January ! The cold Weather and rides where you get sucked in to going harder than you really want to be going. Seen some spectacular bonks around this period thinking about it :).

I always struggle with hydrating on cold winter rides too. Its very unpredictable compared to a warm ride. Sonetimes I actually feel more thirsty on a cold ride than I would on the same route in the summer, other times its the opposite, maybe because the thought of drinking freezing cold liquid when you are already freezing cold is a bit off-putting!

You can get thermal water bottles that keep your drinks warm in cold weather. Hydration is important even in cold weather.

Amy, likewise, I wasn't drinking enough on winter rides. Solved it by putting some squash and a couple of teaspoons of sugar in my water bottle. Encourages me to drink, knowing there's a sugar boost in the bottle. Stops me using too many gels too!

Hopefully your hydrating & fueling improves along w/ the guidance you're getting from Dan at UK Bike Fit, especially since you need those electrolytes to prevent muscle fatigue.

One trick is for the faster riders to slow down slightly on the climbs, that way they aren't waiting and getting cold. Just a bunch of blokes dreaming. Even they will get dropped. Also get to the front set your pace and let them go around you. Cold weather doesn't encourage drinking. Perhaps some kind of thermos Bidon with warm water.

love your videos, so cheerful! and it's certainly no shame in getting dropped with these tires, you were probably pushing an extra 30W compared to a fast road tire! but no shame in getting dropped even with fast tires...

There’s simply no telling some people, Amy 😂 This is now the third vlog I have counted in which you’ve advised Kyle to wear gloves or shoe covers. In the previous two, Kyle appeared to bitterly regret dismissing your advice as his toes and fingers nearly dropped off. I would have put covers on if only to keep those nice shoes white. Maybe Kyle wanted to show them off… which I can understand 😆 Another great vlog The Hudsons ❤

What does dropped mean ?
@markrushton1516
@markrushton1516 6 ай бұрын
I wouldn't know 😁! It means you fall further back as the faster riders get involved with being the quickest up the hill and it can be every hill. Others hide at the back all day, claiming they are tired then outclimb everyone who have been doing all the work. At its worst the slower riders can be left behind or the fastest riders sit at the top of the hill or mountain getting colder as they have been sweating. Once rode with a smart arse who did this on the Col de Cayolle. He went over the top in wind, rain and 2 deg C and went hypothermic on the descent. Wasn't so smart then
@cathschofield7488
@cathschofield7488 6 ай бұрын
It means being left behind by people you’re cycling with. Usually caused by people showing off at the front to make those at the back feel inadequate. It’s a term I hate, it tends to be men that love it. 😂😂😂

Why are road bikes always so small and have little wheels? You'd be better off on a cross country MTB with 29" wheels, especially with all those climbs.
