there is some data that was missing but you'll have to dig really really deep online, Some sources say; That even Giovanni didn't know that the baby mews were killed in getting Mewtwo. When Giovanni learned of this a couple of years after Mewtwo left Giovanni. He was sickened and saddened but couldn't shed a tear another source stated he wept and made a grave stone for the baby mews and vowed never to do any experiments like that again. both sources has the vow being made at a Gravestone implying that the grave might of been for the baby mews.

Oh. This is actually canon lore to the Pokemon store. I thought this lore was only for Mew and Mewtwo. I might have to look into that. Thanks for letting me know.
