I play this game 1 time every year since like 2011 maybe that's when I chose it for my yearly, im 27 and yeah I cried as well Idc it's not just nostalgia talking with me the game is just that good in the end, regardless it needed to be ported but we got this instead like this is just a total treat and it made me so happy.

Literally it's hard to describe how big this is. Paper Mario fans have had the rug pulled so many times. We thought we were getting a traditional game with Sticker star, we got surprised with That. We thought it'd just be a one off weird DS thing we got surprised with Color Splash We found out color splash started development before SS even released so we thought they'd finally listen especially after it sold poorly. Then we got ToK And then finally we began to accept that for WHATEVER reasons....the old paper mario just cant come back anymore. Then this happens.

The fact that this got announced and everyone immediately thought of you speaks volumes. You were even trending earlier! And the fact that you can even title a video like this and have everyone immediately know what you're talking about is... pretty surreal, to say the least! I'm sure your campaign to have this game remade had SOME sort of influence on the Nintendo developers. Either way, today is a W for Nintendo and their fanbase, and I'm just happy that everyone else is happy right now!

This game was great because it's funny . The dialogue is the best part about it IMO. But also it has its scary parts . The post game is excellent too. It seems like they added a few things as well. (One of the characters in the trailer wasn't in the original)

It's certainly a great surprise! I'd have loved to see this for Paper Mario 64 as well, since I feel it's weird that they have one as a subscription & this one as a standalone remake. This was my favourite Paper Mario so I'm not going to complain, but I'd like the option of a remade 64 variant since it's now on the table. Hope we get Super Paper Mario next as I really enjoyed that one as well! :)

@@CouchSpud91 I could make the counter-argument that we've never convinced ourselves that we _wouldn't get_ Metroid Dread, or Pikmin 4. They seemed unlikely, but if hope existed, it wasn't discouraged. That's different for PM:TTYD. With every new PM since the third (SPM; a personal favorite), we've been silently discouraged from thinking we'd get "The old formula" for battles. Even the first PM is available on Switch Online, but... it's just a port. Arlo's like many other reactors to this announcement; they had no reason to ever expect them to _return_ to this. And somehow... well... see the above reaction.

If it gets the Switch Effect like so many other series, it's not unreasonable to think this will become the top selling game in the franchise. The install base difference between GameCube back then and Switch now alone should be able to manage that.

Be warned! Paper Mario is one of THOSE rpg's. By that, I mean it's a LONG game to play. That game can't be finished in one sitting unless you're a speed runner. And a good one at that. It used to take me a solid week just for one full playthrough as a kid. And that was when I was a kid & I had the time, too. I think my fastest playthrough was over the course of 4 days minimum when I was a little older. Play Thousand-Year Door for sure, but be prepared & set aside some time to do it, is all.

@@cocolocostudios6736 Prime 4 is almost certainly a launch title for Switch 2 at this point, if we're being honest, so we probably won't be seeing it at all until the official reveal of the console. It would explain why Retro was hiring for a position involving a really advanced fluid dynamics program that Switch wouldn't be able to run a while back. Super realistic gas and water physics would seem out of place in something like Donkey Kong, but I could see them using it for Prime to really show off what the new hardware can do.

This is even crazier than Pikmin 4 tbh. Pikmin 4 was a long wait and the reveal was exciting but we were pretty sure it would come eventually. For them to resurrect a 20 year old game that in many ways feels like a game they'd rather leave behind than celebrate... it's just completely unexpected.

Similarly, I was so excited although meanwhile still skeptical about the direction Nintendo is taking things, but I also had a rush of a feeling of victory. I felt like Paper Mario fans have reached a goal post at the end of a long platformer level. I can at least let that feeling sink in.

As soon as I saw this my first thought was "Arlo's reaction is gonna be one for the books." For real, my first thought was of that petition that was started and that many of us signed a few years ago. I think they heard. The level of care they've clearly put into it demonstrates that Ninty understands how much we care, and I can only imagine that it's because they've seen how much we care. Arlo, my guy, you're a HUGE, MASSIVE, INTEGRAL part of that, and I for one, sincerely think we have YOU to thank for this.

I legit just had tears come out. This is my undisputed favorite game of all time. It holds an extreme emotional attachment, and is probably the most influential part of my whole childhood. I'm just so happy to see that this exists right now. I legitimately can't believe Nintendo shown and gave me Pikmin 2, and Paper Mario TTYD, my personal top two favorite games of all time, a port and remake on Switch this year.
